Before injuries messed him up he was pretty damn agile/quick at 7’4”. He was running around and getting into his dunks with the fluidity of an athletic SF.

If I had to guess, he was probably closer to 7’2”+ given that him and Kareem look pretty close in actual games. Sampson tends to get lower and hunch over a lot when he’s playing, though. So it’s hard to tell for sure.
He’s listed at 7’4” just about everywhere officially linked to the NBA. Of course, the NBA is often inconsistent when it comes to listing actual heights. So, yeah, he was probably somewhere in between.
Regardless, Sampson’s armspan was listed anywhere around 7’6” to 7’9”. Wemby’s arms are a little longer from what I’ve found (7’7”-8’). And Wemby might legitimately be 7’4”+.
Either way, it seems like once a player is 7’2” or taller with a +5 or greater armspan they’re already in broken-NBA-height territory because so few players are actually that tall to begin with.

There aren’t a ton of truly big centers anymore because of the speed of the game, so it definitely helps him not get bullied as much.
edit: and thinking about it, he kinda is getting bullied. We’ll see next game cause you never want to overreact but he looks like he’s getting physically worn out by Hartenstein, Caruso and JWill and it’s impacting his positioning on the floor, defensive play and rebounding.
It’ll be interesting to see how he deals with the bullying strategy going forward. He weighs 10lbs less than the average center while being over 5” taller. He’d need to gain 25 lbs to get to the same height:weight ratio, and even then he’d probably be thinner due to how long his arms and legs are.

You might want to look up square/cube-law: strength (as in muscle and bone cross-section) only increases by the square while a players volume (and by that weight) triples cubically. So the pressure on joints gets worse in a non-linear fashion.
Leverage on the joints does also increase massively, where “normal” big men get knee problems after some years an 8 ft person will often hardly be able to walk normally w/o playing NBA.
the heart has to pump blood even further and higher. I’d have t look it up but IIRC about 10% increased body weight means roughly 33% more “cardiovascular demand”. Problem is, that at some point the aorta does not grow proportionally with the heart size (which does grow even more when you’re a pro athlete). There’s a good chance that such a player wouldn’t be able to complete or worst case even survive a single game at NBA pace and go out with at best atrial fibrillation or even cardiac arrest.
Oliver Rioux is 7’9 and couldn’t even get on the floor for the Florida Gators this season. A guy Wemby’s size should not be able to move the way he does.
