Anyone who follows Edwards through the regular season (and playoffs) knows he’s a dog who gives 100% and doesn’t shy away from competing at the highest level. He’s definitely a player you want in the 4th quarter of a game 7. You can maybe knock Ant for being immature off the court, but on the court there’s never been any doubting his competitive spirit and professionalism.

I guess laughing with the opposing team 8 min before the game ends is better than after the game? Doesn’t make sense, but it’s not that big of a deal. Just admit it was a lapse in judgement and move on instead of trying to justify it. Just wait till the end of the game next time.

I always assumed he was told that they was pulling the starters, so he just went over there to shake hands and say good game instead of waiting till the game is over. Never understood why people seemed confused over it.

People just love hating players. Genuinely the worst part about the social media era of basketball is how quickly people will try to tear down any player for a normal thing, and bring up how teams played the right way before, ignoring nothings really changed.

The people whining about this are the super toxic POS that everyone would hate in the locker room. The type of dudes that think for a team to win everyone should be yelling at each other all the time because they thought being loud meant they were being a leader. To me, the idea that you have to hate your opponent off the court or after the game or even during the game when it’s clear you aren’t going to make a comeback is just fucking stupid. It’s a GAME that these guys are PLAYING. It’s cool for them to be polite and respectful to each other.

Exactly. Do we want this or do we want IT not shaking the bulls hands after a series loss? This dude is getting dragged all the time for being immature - then does the mature thing within his own emotions and disappointment at the time - and gets dragged again. He’s the same dude that yelled in his idol’s (KD’s) face after a big time play, he ain’t giving nobody a hall pass on the court.

Because it looks weird. When he explains it, it makes perfect sense. But until he does so you’re only left with assumptions. People make such a big deal about leaving the court without shaking hands, but no real competitor really wants to stay on the court.

He reportedly left fast too after the clock ran down (or left even slightly earlier?). Good sportsmanship partially, but he’s ironically showing weird ass sportsmanship doing this so early and not dapping people up like everyone else after the game finishes. Like, he couldn’t wait 8 minutes?

Also, you can talk to people more after the game is done. Doing it 8 minutes before the game ends doesn’t let you say enough to the other players because the game is still going on.

It’s disrespectful to his team mates and the fans to see him over there cheering the opponent when the game is still in the balance. It makes some kind of sense that he didnt think he’d want to do it after they lost so had to do it early, but that’s a cop out and shows a huge lack of awareness of social etiquette. If Harden did this I doubt the most upvoted comments would be defending him.

Exactly. There was an entire half-episode in the Bulls documentary about the Pistons didn’t give respect to the Bulls after they finally beat them in series so when Ant goes an shakes hands with the Spurs it shouldn’t be a big deal, especially when the game was over.

Ant gave all he had and played on 2 completely bum knees.

Ant only did this once we cleared the bench. We were no longer trying to win that game. Ant didn’t “give up”, the team did and Ant just got his handshakes out of the way.
