It’s the Denver problem all over again. OKC has 2 WCF starting caliber centers, and JWill has been a incredibly solid back up both of them. 

But on the other side, it’s Luke Kornet. Not like he’s bad or anything, but compared to JWill? The 3-pt shooting, the screen setting, the lateral quickness, the passing, the shot contesting, literally JWill does everything better than Kornet.

It’s not just a Spurs problem, guarantee if the Nuggets were playing we’d be saying the same thing about Jonas Valenciunas.

Kornet is obviously a valuable backup but just isn’t fit for this particular matchup. It is crazy they have 4 veteran non-Wemby centers on the roster and none of them can play in this series.

no you ninny, the word i’m looking for is ‘strategy’. it’s like they give each of their role players specific objectives to look for when they’re on the court beyond just the objectives of their respective positions. some are ball handlers outside on the perimeter, some are looking to interrupt possessions, some are doing xyz other thing. like i said, it’s just very interesting.

You probably do tbh, he had some big games for sure but also had some stinkers. He’s Jaylen Brown lite to me.

For real. Dude is 25, has literally no holes in his game and is a great playmaker and deadly 3-level isolationist just like Shai. Takes the defense to the next level with his elite deflection rate and is one of the league’s premiere transition demons, while filling a weak spot in the roster’s wing depth. You keep him locked up and hope next season he has better luck with health.

There’s no reason to trade him now. But over the next couple seasons, Hart, Ajay, McCain, Wallace, are going to start getting expensive. And likely a choice will have to be made between depth and Chet/dub.

I’d add someone who can dunk with power personally
