[Highlight] Tempers flare in San Antonio
Hell yeah, flare them tempers
just blow ‘em off n keep goin
not taking nothing from no one
Give em hell, long as I’m breathing!
Keep kickin’ ass in the morning
And taking names in the evening
Leave ‘em with a taste as sour as vinegar in they mouth
See they’ll trigger me, but they’ll never figure me out
Give em hell long as I’m breathin
Let them beat up each other and come to us hobbled.
You mean…nicked up?
This will be the funniest timeline.
Now they finally hate each other
Wait I can get a “Temper” flair?
You need a flair, so that’s perfect.
Knicks are about to win the title by default. Spurs gonna be a one legged Wemby, Luke Kornet, and 3 2 way guys they have to emergency start.
My flabbers have been ghasted
This is hard playoff basketball and it’s fucking awesome.
My big issue is that they need to stop the play for five minutes as a result.
Time to restock on snacks
They do got some big ol women down there
Beer*
AA Chips**
100%, give the flagrant or don’t, but there wasn’t anything else to look at and both the techs were too soft for the playoffs
Gotta have more piss breaks for the beer drinkers
Sometimes you just get banged by guys down low and all you can do is give it back harder
“when a guys banging you..”
“Them young boys comin..”
Yeah it was nice to see. Glad no one fought further
I feel like im taking crazy pills. These aren’t flagrants. These aren’t dirty.
I mean the first one it’s not but anytime u push someone going up on the back it’s risky
Yeah but even the push didn’t seem so egregious
It wasn’t fully egregious but it was still a push and at that pace and going up it’s definitely risky to do that to airborne players
They’re pretty consistent with that because it’s so risky and u go out flying the potential for injury when you’re going up like that is way higher
Castle also just had a couple of these in a row so he’s already heated.
The first one he got heated for no reason, he got hit in the arm that’s a normal foul
For sure I’m just pointing out it’s a lot of things piling up, even before this game
Yeah but in context of the game it makes more sense. he got bashed in the paint earlier in the game a few times (nothing foul worthy he was just banging with the big boys) and I think he was just tired of getting knocked around when he took that fall from the Caruso foul.
Yeah I don’t think it was a dirty foul but definitely a hard one that was reckless because of the potential for injury.
Imagine if every fast break dunk got contested like this, we would have soooo many injuries. Just doesn’t seem worth it. But alas, playoffs
Never push someone with momentum in the air
Yall have never played basketball before and it shows
He was running full speed without a play on the ball. Thats a flagrant and it’s not even close
He’s making a play on the ball tho and they are both going full speed.
I am not minding the call but I didn’t think it was that bad. It’s not a dirty shove or anything.
Just because one arm is making a play at the ball doesn’t mean the other one can do whatever it wants…
I agree it wasn’t dirty, just reckless
Fair, it was a bit reckless
It was also the second time he’d been fouled in the air and had a rough landing within a short stint. I think this was a “folks need to chill out before someone gets hurt” call.
It doesn’t have to be egregious, a push to the back of a ‘vulnerable’ player when they are going that speed is going to be a flagrant foul
But what if he didn’t actually push him?
First one Castle was definitely just salty. Second one because the push in the back is gonna get called.
Dev just standing up for his guy. But overall Spurs just kinda losing their cool.
It’s clear that the Spur’s inexperience is showing, but a lot of this frustration is coming from the fact that OKC is just a more developed team.
Seems like Spurs have to play their hearts out just to win a game and OKC can rely more on executing their game plans, which really shows over 7 games.
plus the depth of the Thunder is just killer. No let up when they start subbing, whereas when Wemby goes out….
Back angle shows a push in the back to a guy jumping, feel like that’s a flagrant 1 for sure. Disagree on the double techs though
Push in the back mid air is always a flagrant 1 especially if the guy has a ton of momentum and hits the deck hard
Caruso’s foul especially was clean as hell. Castle still thought it was dirty getting in his face after lmao
Right, it’s just a regular playoff foul
Pushes him in the back when he is in air. Thats a flagrant
Castle needs to calm down.
Not flagrant or dirty but they’re hard fouls while players are in the air which can be dangerous when the player loses their balance. Spurs players have the right to be mad. The defender knows they can’t get to the ball so they’re fouling hard.
Same. I’m rooting for the spurs but these were both common stop the fast break layup fouls. People just have a hate boner against the thunder right now (I don’t like them too but it’s not like everything they do is bad)
Because they aren’t. Notice the lack of outrage over a spurs player throwing bows to people’s faces.
Spurs are in their own heads
Spurs want there to be no fouls on them lol. Its the playoffs stop crying.
He pushed him with his right hand while in midair. Dangerous play
They only gave this one a flagrant because it happened after the Caruso foul where Castle also overreacted
Somehow it’s flagrant lol
Agree, think the refs just over called it a flagrant to simmer down both sides tbh
They’re not. Standard fast break fouls to force them to make free throws.
Pushing someone who’s already airborne is very dangerous
Nah they’re not, but the accumulation of those from the last game probably
He fell hard as hell, but it didn’t look like that bad of a foul tbh. Happens once or twice a game
Honestly thought the Caruso one like a minute earlier was worse.
it really wasn’t he was swiping at the ball and hit his arm but this one was a straight push when someone is trying to jump
Castle gotta learn to decelerate, he gonna end up like Oladipo if he’s playing this reckless
I agree for his own health but man is he fun to watch play at 110% constantly
Ong that dunk on hart was insane.
For real, just an absolute freak athlete
Nah Caruso one was fine imo because it was a clear play on the ball although it was dangerous to do it midair
Looked like he just wanted to foul to stop the easy 2. Which I thought was legal so a good foul anyways. I could be wrong though
Yeah, but neither were reckless. I thought this one was slightly worse because of the push on the hip whole he was already off balance. Nothing flagrant on either, though. Castle taking a beating, though.
Literally pushing off of a air born shooter’s is considered excessive contact
Yeah it’s one of the most dangerous plays in basketball. There’s a reason it’s a flagrant lol
These guys haven’t played nor do they understand the rules
Castle runs down to the basket fast as fuck, makes it hard to land safely after any type of foul
Caruso’s was about as clean as it could be at that speed
Caruso one was totally fine, just a hard foul, not even a hard playoff foul. Slap on the hand, no layups. Here there is push to the body while airborne, which to me is far more dangerous. Doesn’t have to be a huge push-off to be very endangering.
Brother, no.
a play earlier actually.
It set the tone that the thunder werent going to allow fast break basketball and it helped contribute to the spurs loss
He got pushed in the back twice on consecutive plays. I think that’s why they were pissed.
First one wasn’t in the back while he was in the air, it was on his arm. Not that I care much, fuck Caruso.
It happened to Castle on the play right before this..
Ya, didnt seem dirty at all to me, and i hate the Thunder while actively looking for more proof of their unethical hoopin!
I think the speed at which he was going and the slight nudge from Ajay is what did it
These teams are going to leave this game fucking hating each other
I don’t give a damn who wins I’m having the time of my life
I laughed when one of the casters said, “They respect each other, but don’t like each other,” or something along those lines. I was like hell no, they do not respect each other lmao
lmao yeah. When he said that I was like
https://media3.giphy.com/media/v1.Y2lkPTc5MGI3NjExZ3JvMHU3bTM1d3hsbzJ5ZndtdnZ6OHVwcW9qMHlvODFnd2dhejN6ZiZlcD12MV9pbnRlcm5hbF9naWZfYnlfaWQmY3Q9Zw/bjB3gtFvREqqr5NAHW/giphy.gif
That guy plays like Tim Duncan and David Robinson. I call him Tim Robinson
Imagine if that was Wemby’s name.
Rest of the league and nba fans already hate the thunder anyway
*r/nba fans
Yeah that’s why several current NBA players have been saying how good the Thunder are and the flopping narrative is overdone.
Yep the hate went up a notch, I didn’t think it was possible.
But I loved the fire I saw from my boy Chet today. If Thunder wants to beat Spurs he needs to be that guy right behind SGA.
Your boy ‘Chet’??? Nah fam we not claimin that gerbert
Didn’t think people used gerbert in real life
Can I get a definition
Soft ass lil boy
I do take a particular fancy to him as a player haha. He’s a bit of an underdog to wemby at this point and I love when he fights back.
Good playoff foul by Caruso. Maybe flagrant by Mitchell
I don’t even think Mitchell’s was a flagrant
It wasn’t they are running at full speed any foul from behind probably gonna look like a push
That’s literally why you can’t shove somewhat in the back in that situation. Hard play on the ball like Caruso’s is fine. Push in the back is not.
It wasn’t. At all
Correct take
i hate caruso man. the clap and the smile that he does after fouling 😭 man gtfoh pls let us have some momentum for once. elite playoff player
This is the kind of hate I can get behind. If he played for San Antonio and was blowing up plays on defense constantly and had a smirk on his face the whole time I’d hate him too lol
Crashing out over normal fouls lol
you cant just shove someone in the back full speed bruh thats how you get injured
Barely a shove
Its happened twice in relatively quick succession and they’re hard falls, lol. How tf is he supposed to feel
Acting like you wouldn’t do the same if you got shoved to the ground on back to back fast breaks .
I would die if someone looked at me the wrong way tbh
He got fouled on back to back fast breaks and was heated after the first.
This isn’t happening in a vacuum. This is after game 2 where IHart was bearhugging Wemby the whole game and pulling on Castle’s hair. This is also the 2nd time back to back where Castle got fouled hard with full momentum
Loving the rivalry between these two
Reggie Miller: THAT IS A GREAT FOUL
Tbf that was a common playoff foul when he played
That is not a flagrant foul smh… if Vassell doesn’t get pissy they don’t upgrade it
That was a weak flagrant call tbh. I had to watch it multiple times after and I just don’t see it
league doesn’t like airborne players being shoved instead of hacked across the arms, this has been a consistent thing like the landing zone flagrants
He wasn’t airborne yet
Thunder are hard fouling to ragebait, and it’s working
The Caruso foul wasn’t bad at all. He hit his arm only
It’s not a dirty foul. It’s a hard foul bc it’s high speed impact that’s gonna sting like hell lol
Weak flagrant but good to see some fire from the Spurs
yep it wasn’t dirty, or worth getting upset over, but they’ve held their composure much longer than i’d expect, so i’m fine with it just as far as showing some life
YEAH FUCK EM UP
Gotta be honest, think the Thunder have us. The “been there before” aspect coming to play.
7 games series are a marathon not a race
they’re in great shape and we’ve now squandered a couple golden opportunities but it’s too much series left and we’ve already seen much crazier things happen in this playoffs. gotta get it back to 0-0 sunday and go from there
Back to back hard fouls on castle
Calling the first one a hard foul is insane
It was a hard foul, it wasn’t dirty or fragrant but it definitely hurt.
Only reason he didn’t hit the ground hard because of that first foul is because he grabbed rim
It was 100% legal and should never be called a technical, but it had to have hurt. That fits the definition of a hard foul.
Back to back to back. Just have Castle drive every time. Every OKC player will fouls out
This feels like the refs trying to chill things out. Idk, maybe I watch too much hockey. Ive seen harder fouls not called but maybe the hand to the back was the determining factor
I’m rooting for SA, but that was a weak flagrant.
Neither of those fouls were egregious.
These are just playoff fouls. Spurs need to focus
There’s nothing there.
Both those fouls on Castle were simple playoff fouls. Not egregious in anyway. Not really that hard either.
Love the physicality both ways
Castle has every right to be mad
Pushed him in the back in mid air 🤷♂️🤷♂️ It’s always a flagrant 1
[removed]
I’d say something good in response but I don’t want to send SGA to the free throw line🤷♂️
This really is the NBA Finals
This is The Rivalry in the west for a few year.
Fuck you reggie for bringing up Horry
The shivers have been timbered
Refs are so inconsistent and when tempers flare then they call the game different. Its the inconsistent way they call the game that breaks flow. Players cant adjust if refs dont have any idea of game type they are calling. The nba product looks like shit. Just my opinion
Everyone wanted their fouls called. Minutes 8-5 in the third were the Lord of the Rings trilogy long with all those free throws and now everyone wants playoff ball. The refs are inconsistent but fans have no idea what they want.
Good to see from Vassell. Gotta stand up for your guy
Don’t think Mitchell’s foul was intentionally aggressive, but also don’t blame Vassell for his reaction. Not going to read into it other than that it was a hard foul.
Spurs needa play Wemby this whole half fuck it
Knew this would be the game where it happens
At least one series will be exciting. The ECF is boring
Spurs as emotional as the thunder haters in this sub
When I play ball, defenders can push hard when I’m in the air without full extension of their arm. It’s obviously hard to tell from the replay, but anytime a player is in the air and gets shoved, refs have to protect that play.
These guys so soft
From NBA rulebook’s website (or archive of of examples)
Flagrant Foul, Penalty 1, defender makes contact to airborne offensive player Flagrant Foul, Penalty 1, defender trips opponent
“This is an example of a Flagrant Foul, Penalty 1. The defensive player, Rodney Hood, winds up and makes hard contact above the shoulders of the offensive player, De’Aaron Fox. There is hard impact to the airborne offensive player, and there is potential for injury as well. A Flagrant Foul, Penalty 1 is defined as contact that is unnecessary. The penalty for a Flagrant 1 is two free throws for the offended player, and his team would also retain possession of the ball. Note also that any called foul that could potentially be ruled flagrant, will be reviewed via Instant Replay, to determine if it is a Flagrant 1, a Flagrant 2, a Technical Foul, or a common foul.”

I knew Vassell was crazy when he took the game deciding shot over Wemby years ago and didn’t give a fuck! Spurs are legit man…
Love it
Tempers are not flaring. No one is going to do anything.
It’s starting to get real good. Castle bout to lose his shit if they keep coming after him lol
Caruso touches the camera man, instantly flops. Fucking idiot
Hell yeah it’s like the 90s
How are these not clear path fouls?
Fuck yeah! The legit stars are getting in there. Give me a 21 game series of this!
Unleash olynyk
Even if you’ve ever played basketball yk you avoid contact with someone moving this fast and going in the air to avoid injury if you ever been in this position the one with ball your just tryna get the ball up without traveling n losing your balance so you don’t tweak your ankle tryna slow down that’s why regardless of how much force you think he used we look at this as a dirty play the rules say this is excessive contact ( he was never gonna be able to make a play for the ball ) so it should be a flagrant
That’s exactly where the Thunder want them.
Spurs played poorly overall. Defensively not too great. They didn’t seem to change much from G2.
Thunder have little fear (if any) for Wemby and they simply refuse to swap on screens with Wemby so he cannot get his mismatches on offense.
This was going down from Q2 onwards.
Thunder bench scored a lot of points too. Some usual poor whistles aside, Thunder deserve this win.
Castle such a bitch bro
composure Spurs. you lost due to this.
Im watching the WWE bros
I hope this Castle flop gets the same amount of hate as SGA
Hard foul, but I understand Castle though back to back, I think everyone would crash out.
The series we all asked for
When did the spurs become such cry babies? Those are valid attempts at trying to protect the basket
Someone please upload that clip of Isaiah Joe faking out his coach 😂
Clean playoff fouls
Chuck a dude into the third row on a shot attempt and act like it’s sweet after, what a corny team
If OKC wins this series, and lot of people are gonna owe them an apology.
spurs are soft af
As someone who enjoys making fun of both the Spurs, Thunder, and their fans, my haterade says San Antonio look like the bitch babies in this one.
That was a playoff foul, nothing more, nothing less.
I hope these teams begin to have real, genuine hate for each other for years to come
It is comical the microscope the thunder is being viewed under…these comments are hilarious….legit arguing about where on his wrist he was being touched….
EGREGIOUS OFFICIATING & DOUBLE STANDARDS (SPURS VS. THUNDER)
The core rule violation for the constant holding, wrapping, and physical restriction of Victor Wembanyama is NBA Rule No. 12B, Section II — Illegal Defensive Tactics (Off-Ball Holding).
The Specific Rule Violations Off-Ball Holding (Rule 12B-II): This rule states that a defender may not grab, pull, or hold an offensive player who does not have the ball to restrict their freedom of movement or alter their path on cuts [1, 2]. The Principle of Verticality (Rule 12B-I): Every player has a right to the space directly above them. Clamping down on Wembanyama’s arms or locking his elbows (arm-hooking) to keep him from jumping is a direct violation of his vertical space [2]. Loose Ball/Box-Out Holding (Rule 12B-I-d): Wrapping both arms around a player’s waist or grabbing their jersey fabric during a rebound attempt to completely pin them is an illegal personal contact foul [1].
