When everyone is on we are basically unguardable. The Cavs design was basically, let a guy who shot 41% from 3 on the year and is a career 35% absolutely wide open. The crazy part is that might actually be the best strategy when everyone is on.

I mean, we sent the 31st pick for OG, so pretty close to a 1st rounder.
Outside of Brunson, the acquisition of OG really changed the course of this team. He hits big shot after big shot, rebounds, and plays defense. He can turn it on and pour in buckets.
Also, people overrate picks too much. A top 5 FRP is drastically different than a 20+ FRP. 2031 might be a good pick but the other ones will all be late 20s. And why would it make sense to prioritize a pick 5 years from now on the basis that we might be bad and there might be an elite prospect. 2 of the 5 picks were already picked last year (Ben Saraf and Nolan Traore).

he could put up 5/2/2 in the regular season and i’d be fine with it. we were a playoff team without him. we got him to get us over the hump. worth every pick.
All our box score watching fans were having a meltdown every time he scored less than 7 points, paying no attention to his defense or his performance in the playoffs last year. After this run, I hope I never have to see a nephew call Mikal soft ever again

Look at how the playoffs have gone for essentially the past 8 years at this point. The healthiest team out of the top 5 or so tends to win the championship. So many good teams have been completely derailed due to injury these past few years, including the Knicks in many cases. Bridges is so valuable in the playoffs because you know he will never be injured and so you don’t have to worry about your title hopes ending from a key injury to him. Knicks are already a top 5 or so team in the league, so adding Bridges to increase the likelihood of being the healthiest team in the top 5 was well worth it.

Reminds me of some NHL players. They would have mediocre regular seasons and then the playoffs start and they become absolute monsters. That’s part of the appeal to me in watching the playoffs… Some guys can just turn it on when the bright lights are on.

I wish he would drive to the basket more often to add another offensive wrinkle for the other teams to think about and get them in foul trouble, but his perimeter defense alone is worth some of those first round picks.
He’s just so consistent and tireless as a defender. He doesn’t make huge or flashy plays, but incredibly reliable.
