[Highlight] Brunson draws a charge?
Dude, we desperately need reviews of this shit after the game with real consequences.
It’s hard for refs to do it during the game, but you cannot consistently just shrug your shoulders and say “oh well” when dudes are getting away with this shit
They need to do post game techs for a flop. Tech count leads to a suspension.
If they actually assess correctly and not let certain players get away with it, it’ll fix the problem.
Only way you’re going to get the league doing this is if a gambling culture emerges around it.
Will this play be a tech tomorrow? Bet now on Draft Kings!
What do you mean, the league loves gambling. It makes them so much money.
That’s what he’s suggesting.
The league would only care if people were betting on those markets.
They should spank them for flopping.
Their bare butt, balls, and back.
Imagine automatic suspension if even one flop is assessed post game. The impact tho
Could also true it up between quarters or something. Award FTs and assess tech
In between quarter VAR review. Anyone caught flopping will be suspended rest of the game; goes into game 2 if its 4th quarter etc.
Start handing out techs post game
Yep, i’ve been saying this for a while. Two techs and you sit out a game, this shit would stop quick.
They can easily fix this, they just choose not to.
Manfred has proven that in baseball.
Man everyone thought he sucked for a while but he’s made baseball a lot better and that’s probably the toughest sport to change given all the old heads and tradition around it. He’s kind of like Goodell where he’s willing to be the asshole and fall guy but makes the product better.
Silver is just a coward or at least he has been since he was handed the easiest layup ever with the Sterling ban.
He also let a team that cheated their way to a championship keep it too though.
Game 7s would be a flop off
Lol, if it were finals game 7 that shit would look like WWE
SGA would never play again
Just fine them a game check for every flop. Problem solved.
They can already do that methinks
During for shit like this
They’ll never do either. Betting is way too big. Give it another 5 years and the league will be unwatchable
It already is unwatchable. Why would I watch this product over the NHL playoffs?
Just do it at the next stoppage in play after the people handling replays have had a chance to look at it.
I know this will never happen, but I wish they’d just hand out a 1 game suspension post game for flops that are super obvious like this one. It doesn’t even need to be all or even most of them, just the ones that are completely indefensible and there’s no other possible reason this happened besides trying to deceive officials.
I always go back to this JJJ flop when I think of an indefensible flop
https://youtu.be/ExmsZ_BhpaM?si=sVtPhNbvCBZV4Ik1
They need to let teams keep a challenge if they succeed. This as a challenge feels like an obvious flop.
THIS. It is so simple. Flop reviews. Penalties get more extreme the more you offend. The goal of actively trying to manipulate refs is terrible for the sport and ruins the product. Root this shit OUT.
We need fines post game and techs if reviewed. We can’t manage every missed call in the moment but we can look for egregious flops like this post game and issue fines. Players will eventually stop when they are paying.
I sincerely wish they would start suspending people for a game. Just on the ones where there is no contact and the flopping player is clearly embellishing and delaying the game, outside of any modicum of honor for the sport.
Like two or three people getting suspense regardless of star power and that shit stops, and the game is instantly improved.
Why do we think they don’t do this? I get that money rules everything but what is the incentive for the NBA NOT to fix this? It seems like it would just make the product more watcheable.
Need to fine the shit out of em. It’d stop.
Is there a more inconsistent call in the league than this?
It is consistent though
Its just that the call is based on reputation and name value rather than whatever actually happened on the play
True, if this is Jaylen Brown there is no way they call a charge
Jaylen Brown got the reckless shoulder, loose handle reputation before he was a star, thats why he gets charges called a lot
Jayson tatum throws just as many shoulders and chicken wings but he didnt have that pre-star reputation, so he escapes it
Defender rep also supersedes star value on this call, Caruso gets this call on any player in the league, if Dean Wade was defending it would be play on
So consistently inconsistent.
Once you understand what the refs are looking for you already know what calls coming, thats the consistency.
Giannis posting up Dort? You already know what the calls gonna be if dort hits the deck, doesnt matter what the state of the contact is
OKC is a different level too. Offensively SGA will hook and act like he’s being fouled and half his shots he just falls down regardless. And defensively they seem to be allowed to play like a hockey team at times. I think 25 percent at least of their practice time is dedicated to flopping. It’s terrible basketball to watch
Flagrant on Boston, the entire team
Tom Brady suspended 4 games
Ref: Foul on Jaylen Brown, attempted murder
JB: Attempted murder?? Not even just charging?
Ref: Fine, throw in a tech too
It happens now too but definitely before the challenge home plate umpires would miss the pitch but call it still based off player reputation.
Might’ve been high? Well that pitcher paints the upper corner of the strike zone, strike one. Might’ve been low? Well that’s a rookie vs a intelligent hitter, ball.
Looking at it from that lens it makes so much sense. Close call? SGA is gonna get that call while Caris Levert isn’t
continuation maybe
Which I’ve always felt was pretty straight forward and well called until these playoffs.
Idk 3 seconds in the paint seems like a myth nowadays
TIL the rule isn’t that one of your players has to spend 3 seconds in the paint.
j/k
Yeah he flopped
The carry just completely went away lmfao. I guess in that sense it’s not inconsistent because it’s never even called.
I was watching last night and I thought SGA double dribbled. I had to rewind it and watch it again, and it was a full on carry. Hand under the ball, paused for like a couple seconds at least, and then kept dribbling. It was crazy.
If you pay attention there are like 15 to 20 a game. It’s a joke.
Doesn’t play anymore but every time Evan Turner dribbled the ball I swear it was a carry
Carries are the petty basketball grievance I’ll never let go.
I’m convinced if they called them, like actually called them, it would fix so much about the game. Offensive players have such an advantage largely because they can carry, making it impossible for defenders to read their dribble and change of direction, and everything else just follows from there.
/steps off soapbox
You’re right, there are very few players in the world that can truly juke a defender the way that carries allow a lot more players to do while following the old dribbling rules. When someone can shift one way and then instantly yank the ball with them the opposite way, all while the ball is on their hand it does make defending it almost impossible
I don’t think that’s fair to the level of flop this is.
I know what you mean. I see Jaylen Brown shove people with his forearm all the time and it goes uncalled.
But there is literally no push at all here. He just feels Strus’s arm and straight up jumps away, simulating a push, a textbook example of flopping.
Strus almost killed him
Yeah I hope he’s able to play the second half. That was brutal
OP cut the video.
Jalen is dead.
Every time you kill a Jalen, 2 more Jaylens take his place
A disgusting act
I watched this as I put my son to sleep. He saw it, started screaming, I had to lie and tell my wife that I accidentally watched some ISIS video. I can’t let her know that my baby saw this video, this is horrific.
I saw a gun
Yet new York fans will say he’s not a flopper
He flops
He’s a flopper. But god dammit, he’s my flopper.
^ please take notes if any OKC fan is reading this
OKC fans, this is how you handle the hate.
This
Look below your comment. Already saying it
LOL he definitely flops! But I will say most of his flops are just like this on defense
He flopped literally the next possession by jumping into his defender and airballing a 3
Was it a flop when Mitchell did it in game 1 but hit his 3?
Like I’m a Cavs fan - this is obviously an egregious flop - but like harden is on my team so who am I to talk
He is a flopper, in fact he is our flopper
But he isn’t even the biggest flopper on the court when Harden is still in this series
He’s not a flopper. The weight of his dome sends the rest of his body into weird motions
didn he get the big head rep from his head snaps 😂
it’s bc the size of his head
Foul baits on offense less than he used to tbf but he’s still prone to some bullshit.
That one 3 he took last night trying to jump into Harden was ROUGH.
You’re about to get so many replies focusing on FTAs
Playoffs last year bro literally smacked himself in the face with someone else’s arm. How anyone can deny it, I have no clue.
I know a 76ers fan isn’t complaining about someone else flopping.
W flopper
He is but not nearly as much as this sub likes to claim. He does it like once or twice each game yet people act like its every possession. He had this and then the foul bait the next offensive possession but hasnt done anything sketchy since then
It should take somebody 10 seconds in a review center to look at that and assess the flop tech
Yep put him in the penalty box 5 mins
Can’t enter the offensive half of the court for some duration or number of possessions
And they have to use that time to write a 150 word essay on the dangers of flopping, to be assessed by a local English teacher upon re-entering the game.
Yeah, I understand not wanting more refs or calls to interrupt game time. But having a a 4th booth ref or to allow the replay center to review during game and assess a flop tech after next stopped ball… I fail to see the problem. It’s absolutely obvious when you can see it in slow motion. The physics just don’t add up.
they literally already have the tech and infrastructure to do so INSTANTANEOUSLY but they don’t want to make the refs look bad (or something)
They won’t be able to protect superstars if they implement that kind of tech.
It shouldn’t be one person doing it. It should be 3 and 2of3 must agree.
I’ll do it for free
sigh
You see the shit they allow on Wembanyama, then you see this shit…
Has Wemby tried shrinking 2 feet and expanding his head 2x?
The Human Bobblehead
To be fair, similar shit was called on Harrison Barnes when he attempted murder.
If I speak I am in big trouble
I’d advise sitting this one out.
See you guys at the draft
Insert Lebron talking to Sengun GIF
talk your shit
Yeah don’t, but happy cake day
Most of the best players in the league flop hard. Luka, Brown, Wemby, SGA, Brunson, jokic. No one in here can say they don’t have a flopper on their team, it’s engrained into the league now and rewarded. You guys are just the best team and have a few big floppers and then play super physical defence and complain (as does every player in the NBA) which make you easy to hate for the masses.
You know what? I don’t think the Wolves have a flopper (maybe to our detriment idk)
Yeh you are right or at least certainly not to the degree we are talking about. Ant just does what every young kid does these days when there is a drop of contact “ayyeeeeayyeeeeeeee” but he certainly isn’t alone there.
Ajaylen Bruntchell
“King Von once said: End gun violence”
happy cake day
If the finals end up being Thunder Knicks we are going to have an all-time flop-off on our hands between Shai and Brunson.
Nah not you, you the only person out here that ain’t allowed to say that
That’s an Oscar-worthy flop.
And the Oscar goes to…. *SGA and Harden begin stand up*
“Jalen Brunson!”
Worst thing I’ve seen all playoffs, I can’t even defend a single part of it LOL
Yeah we should be celebrating his wwe quality sell job.
Not everyone can strike the needed critical nuanced performance required.
It’s because his head is so huge dude. Just look at that thing when he throws it back. It’s crazy
Snipers in da roof
Gotta defend the Garden
Flops hard on defense and on offense. Truly plays both sides
2 way flopper
So he will always come out on top. Genius
*come out on flop
Can’t wait for OKC Knicks finals.. it’ll be a 12 hour telecast with free throws
Jalen shot 2 free throws yesterday. Dude flops and sells contact but not egregious like some in the league. He’ll even LeBron did Hella flopping in his career and hes the goat.
Pathetic man. Ruining the game with this shit
This is where I miss Jeff Van Gundy as a broadcaster. He would call this what it is instead of talking around it
To be fair even Reggie called him out on it.
Reggie Miller is calling the WCFs. Richard Jefferson is calling the ECFs.
They sound very different - not really sure how you got them confused lol
They both sound bald
And also Richard Jefferson isn’t a fucking awful colour commentator.
And then that horrendous foul bait shot on the other end. Actually embarrassing for him lol
Yeah that was a bad look. Could’ve made the shot even without the antic
I shook my head hard after that ngl
This is the stuff the league was apparently ending with flop techs. Then it turned out that the top players in league all flop so Adam nixed it
That’s not a flop, Strus is just stronger than 10 men
then goes on the other end and tries to foul bait flop into a 3.
pathetic lmao
Shailen Brunson
Flop?
he went flying 10 feet from that
And then tried to foul bait on the very next play lol
Good refs, they didn’t bite then they gave knicks a ticky tack foul
Sadly, they bit on this flop
Yes.
But if that was SGA…
There is no way an NBA player gets thrown 15+ feet by that sort of contact.
I’m fine with calling it an offensive foul but I think Brunson should 100% be assessed a tech for this
I don’t care about flopping, the NBA has a rule in place to punish flops, yet they decide not to enforce it.
idk which is worse this one or isaiah joe’s lmaoo this gotta stop.
joe walked into barnes and then flopped like he touched an electric fence
Adam Silver’s league ya’ll…gotta love it…
Embarassing
Nah, propaganda by the announcer. Garbage sport
Brunson lowkey a big time flopper but because he’s viewed as an “underdog” it’s not talked about enough.
Max really gets one of the worst whistles in the league. Every 50⁄50 or plays that should be non calls go against him 100% of the time.
Yall exaggerating so hard on this one
anything but a knicks thunder finals please…
So obviously a flop, but Strus extends his arm into Brunson with a very clear ref sight line. I don’t like the call, but I don’t even think it registers on the bad call scale
Thunder are bad amiright guys?!?
Pathetic. That’s WAY beyond exaggeration of contact on a charge (which is fine). That’s just a straight BS soccer flop
No knicks fans in this thread
I wonder why
But they cry about Harden flopping or they will about Sga
Crazy because Harden hasn’t even done his usual foul baiting this game.
OKC vs NY in the contest for most pathetic style of play
NBA fans from 28 teams are going to be pissed when this is the finals matchup.
The entire remainder of the NBA playoffs is just one big flop-off.
Somewhere Adam Silver is furiously masturbating.
It wasn’t a charge.
It was a offensive foul because of a push off.
And yes, it was sold.
Everyone’s going to cry about Brunson flopping but ignore the insane free throw disparity Cleveland has. And that’s with Hack-a-Mitch
How could SGA do such a thing
Yeah ok that might have been a flop
clear flop but chicken swing on drives happens on like every play. as a knicks fan the harden pushoff earlier was far more blatant and went uncalled
I hate this league and it’s total rewrite of the rules.
His entire body lost contact with earth on minimal contact 💀
+1, He was moving
+2, They made a rule for cutting off drives
Yeah man, WTF is this NBA
This was clearly a flop but moving doesn’t make it a blocking foul, and cutting off drives doesn’t, either. You just have to beat them to the spot, and you can’t cut them off if they change direction to drive around you.
very ethical Adam Silver.
Tell me yall have pussy ass refs without telling me
NBA is in shambles. Adam Silver is the worst
I can’t root for the knicks
Attempted murder
He’s auditioning for Broadway.
Whenever commentators offer praise as these clips play it makes me lose my fucking mind 😭😭😭
Jalen Brunson knows this move so well he felt it on defense
OKC about to offer every pick they have for Brunson
Cmon jb
Everyone flops better than Brunson until it’s time to flop better than Brunson
I hate watching NBA now.
We’re told to shut the fuck up because Heartenstein’s defense was softer than a kiss, yet shit like this gets called all the time.
The problem isnt that brunson flops, he only does it because the refs reward this behavior. Every team needs to do it to be competitive.
Flop that’s not drawing a charge what are these announcers on
Fooled the refs good lmao. Edit: i will say i dont think offensive fouls get called nearly enough in the nba.
This league is so cooked. Soccer ass sport.
This sub is obsessed with showing highlights of questionable calls. Then people who don’t watch games say that the NBA is unwatchable. Do y’all just prefer getting mad at clips than actual basketball?
That was a hard ass flop 🤣 But if the FT disparity is as bad as it was, I would sell every contact too
Oh so this was the one bad call every bum in the game thread was crying about lmfao
It’s like catcher framing. All it’s going to take is some dork to formalize flopping into a quantifiable stat and in five years you’ll all be creaming over these guys.
Replay is a bad angle and slow mo doesn’t capture the impact.
The live view showed he dribbled right into brunson and knocked him down. Brunson definitely sold it.
I agree refs are inconsistent with this call though.

As a soccer fan, I’ll accept your “all they do is flop” apologies
That, my dears, was a flop.
they need to start suspending players for flopping. Fines don’t make a difference when the highest possible fine is 150,000 and they make half a million per game.
5 flops = 1 game suspension
Flopping to take a charge is almost necessary and way more acceptable and understandable to me compared to the SGA style of flopping on offense where you just run into a defender to fall down
Idk what your talking about 🙈
He didn’t flop, and there was no contact. He just made eye contact with Strus.
