[Highlight] Richard Jefferson and Mike Breen make a prediction the outcome of a challenge
This kind of fuckery is exactly why there should be infinite challenges until you miss. I know everyone already agrees with this, but I can’t help but state it again.
Or have the “eye in the sky” that’s always watching and can quickly buzz in on something obvious like this
All this money and the NBA can’t come up with unbiased computerized officiating that at least take some of the load off the refs, like on goaltends or out of bounds or back court violations.
I’d like a buzzer system for back court violations similar to stepping on the line when bowling.
Smokey, this is not ‘Nam, this is bowling. There are rules.
Doesn’t even need to be computerized to work. TMO in rugby is a great example of a working system with an official in the camera room. The floor official can ask them to help with an unclear call. And they can call down if they see something fishy. Challenge system isn’t even needed because the sirs don’t have egos and just ask for help when they aren’t sure on a call.
Drama and controversy sells
They did implement the rim review
What’s that? Looked it up but didn’t see anything
they review rebounds to see if they are still in the cylinder
Im pretty sure they still don’t use that ngl or rarely use it, cus there’s definitely been times I feel like a ball was still on the rim or coming off but still just barely in the cylinder yet didn’t get called for it
Slippery slope with refs who have a tough union and will always fight against it
Im thinking we have something similar to the Dealer in Deal or No Deal. Someone in a darkly light room where the entire crowd and camera look to and he calls the refs for the challenge result. All done while not needing a commercial break, and actually adds to the suspension of the game.
Aeye?
Until you miss twice… Imagine getting challenges correct then missing one so no more … Or maybe every 4 you challenge correctly you get an extra challenge or something. At a certain point if a crew is so bad you successfully challenge x-amount of plays, you shouldn’t be punished for assuming they’re wrong again.
As a fan I’d much rather more stoppages with the correct calls than to see 3 or 4 plays in a row of badly missed calls followed by a bunch of players whining and flopping followed by 3 or 4 make up calls.
Sidenote, if a call is overturned and it’s found a player embellished, should be a technical foul.
Honestly I agree with everything you just said
Yeah this.
I just wish these refs would get more help because this game is super fast. Like just have a crew there viewing things at different angles, and when the refs need help or a quick challenge is needed, the ref doesn’t actually need to view it for like 5 minutes.
Absolutely. Its stupid to be penalized for bad refs.
The reasoning (as I understand it) is even stupider: more challenges would mean more stoppages. Which… only happens if the refs regularly make wrong calls lol
I only found out yesterday that in the nba you lose challenges whether they are successfully overturned or not. What an idiotic thing.
Make it, take it as it were
I know people will just automatically hate on my flair, but do you all not realize how shitty that would be?
Games would all take three hours. More commercials. Constant timeouts. It would be a horrible viewing experience.
Except they wouldn’t because challenge success rate is like 60% at best
They also make shit up like “incidental contact” “marginal contact” we’ve seen so many obvious fouls not be called and overturned
But your flair always makes sense
OKC is one of the teams that statistically challenges the best in the league. All you are doing by this “your flair always makes sense” shit is piling onto something that ultimately helps OKC, meanwhile what he’s arguing for are rules that make the team take less advantage of that.
brother if every call is getting reversed to the point where games take way longer to finish then there is a bigger issue at hand…
Yeah, honestly you’re right. At a certain point, refs would call some BS after review to stop the chain of challenges.
ive always found it stupid that the same refs who make the calls are the ones who check if its a good call. There is a clear unavoidable bias there.
While I get where you’re coming from, mistakes happen. It’s super fast paced. Obviously a bias exists, but given that challenges are successful 60% of the time, I think refs are willing to call things right after the fact.
Then get the damn call right. What you are suggesting means they got a ton of calls incorrect
Yes. I expect that from a major sports league. Calls are subjective. I dislike refs fucking up, but I also realize that unlimited challenges would get tiresome so fast.
Its unlimited until you get one wrong.
Yes, I understand that. Even three challenges seems too much to me because of stoppages. My example will always be the last two minutes of games pre-challenges
Nothing wrong with your flair, but I disagree because it’s not easy to win a bunch of challenges in a row unless they’re obvious, in which case I would rather have games take longer to ensure fairness. The whole point is to make sure we don’t just move on from really obvious fails.
Do you guys not remember when everything was review able in the last two minutes? That shit was horrible.
I mean it’s not like everything is going to be reviewable. Once again, the coaches can only challenge as long as they continue to win, which incentivizes them to save their challenges for obvious incorrect calls, which we should want to have overturned anyway even if it takes longer to finish the game.
That’s as clean as my BALL—d head
BANG….arang!
Blind ass refs
Pretty obvious
Lol hits himself in the face and sells the contract after
Isn’t it a natural reaction to hold your eye even if you hit yourself???
Is he stupid?
I think something that would work is make challenges tied to timeouts. So yes, teams can challenge 6 times a game but the games aren’t longer because they are using them as timeouts. And maybe throw in a bonus challenge as long as you are correct.
That gives teams plenty of challenges and doesn’t increase the game length. And you don’t have to deal with so many ref errors
I fully agree with this. Sometimes Refs just be making bad calls.
Refs are deep in their bag this playoffs😤
Richard Jefferson is hilarious I love him as a commentator
I just don’t even get how you call that a foul in real time. It’s not even close what are you looking at?
Game respect game.
Richard usually annoys the heck out of me, but that was a funny quip.
I thought RJ was about to say something else
