Exactly. Size of the city has no relevance to how late someone can be. My apartment is not that big yet my wife will be consistently late just getting out the door when we have an appointment

What usually matters more is how much someone cares about being late. If someone doesn’t care, it doesn’t matter the distance from their house to their destination, it could be next door even, they’ll still be late

A lot of liars have no reason to lie, they just used to lying and not getting called out on their lies.

He also has no reason to tell the world about all this stuff while he’s still on the team. It’s by no means common for players on podcast to talk about what’s currently happening on the team and in locker rooms.

As a diehard Pacers fan I defended him for years. Was my favorite player ever since we drafted. I was furious that our front office didn’t try and bring him back. Now I’m ecstatic he’s gone. I’m shocked by him being such a diva this last year. Seemed like such a down to earth chill player.

Are superstars late constantly? Most stories you hear, they are the first guys in and the last one to leave. Shaq is a bad example, he is known for being lazy so him also showing up late doesn’t surprise me. I doubt any superstar that cares about winning is showing up late constantly.

That’s not even true. Embiid being semi-consistently being 10-15 minutes late to video sessions and practices was such a big scandal that Maxey had to confront him about it. And it was a massive story for about a week. The nba is a professionals league now.

We don’t know this is what Giannis was doing, but he would not be the first star player to start ruffling feathers when he wanted out. Considering Giannis reputation for hard work, this seems especially like important context. When a guy wants out and the team still wants him, it can help to start doing stuff like this. I’m not saying that’s for sure what happened, but this is worthy information to consider from Turner. 

Comparing him to Shaq does not make sense to me. You are right that stars receive star treatment. However, what’s notable here is not even the treatment, but Giannis actions themselves being such a departure from his previous style, if that is truly the case, is what’s notable for them here. 

Just want to point out as well that while star players do get treated differently, that doesn’t mean their peers necessarily are fine with or that it’s great for team culture. Russell Westbrook’s relationship with Harden fell apart on the Rockets, at least on Russ’ side, because he hated how Harden was always late. Regardless of what stars can do, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t affect the culture of the team. I’m not saying either side is wrong or right there, but I don’t believe it’s just a nothing burger when we hear this. We hear about it cause it mattered to someone.
