SGA clarifies earlier comments on Hartenstein: “I didn’t really hear her. And then once I realized what she said, I gave her the right answer. I heard it wrong what she said”
the most boring “drama” of all time
And it was obvious. SGA is not the kind of guy who is going to disrespect a teammate, even in a loss, let alone a win.
To be fair it was like 40 minutes of fake drama. So not too bad
Hey Wemby how do you feel about sga winning the mvp? How does it feel to have it awarded in front of you? How do you feel about sga winning it 2 times in a row, but in front of you? Did you look when they handed sga the trophy? How do you feel about sga winning the mvp again?
This sub needs as much okc hate as possible they are willing to flop harder than any okc drive to the basket for a reason to hate
OKC breaks people’s brains so much they were making up theories in other threads saying that he accidentally slipped up and admitted to cheating lmaooo
Really? Seemed like most people thought it was sarcasm which had me questioning if I had forgotten what sarcasm was lol
lol for real, like I know he’s deadpan but he did not seem to be joking at all
Yeah but it was mostly stuff like “Shai says the quiet part loud”. A few people took it quite seriously to mean SGA was mad at iHart for mauling Wemby.
Yeah I saw a Thunder fan and Spurs fan arguing over it and they both were wrong and it was quite funny.
The idea that someone would think SGA would chastise his teammate like that is so comical to me.
Yeah I could see him doing it to the team as a whole but not an individual player. I think Shai even said he didn’t think he played that well down the stretch.
Wemby comes across as similar: largely directs blame/responsibility at himself, might say how the team as a whole could do better.
Yeah they are pretty similar in that way. SGA still criticized himself today even in the win. Wemby took most of the blame for the L or used we statements
I thought it was a more “that’s a shitty human thing to do” after trying to rip a dred outta Castle
Were we in the same thread?
Maybe not. I was pretty early to both threads. And didn’t go back except to people replying to me.
It wouldn’t be sarcasm, better said as being just dry humor. But people joke like, I know my friends and I do. Sometimes things are funnier when they aren’t punctuated
Are you Canadian by chance
What do you think is more likely, SGA randomly flames his teammate after he had a good game or he was joking or being sarcastic?
Neither I never thought it was either. And SGA explained it was neither lol.
Goofball vibes
The NBA community is more susceptible to bs than religion.
It’s half the post game thread. Some weird Thunder Derangement Syndrome stuff
Nobody argued this
https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/1tj7uyy/comment/omzla3b/
“Maybe SGA is trying to hint he’s morally opposed to the way Hartenstein was fouling every possession”
Real upvoted comment I read today lmfao
The fucking arrogance to just proclaim something confusing af has just 1 possible explanation and they know exactly what it is lol. It’s okay to not know sometimes jfc
I mean I think those were jokes lol
Eh
I have a hard time deciphering the jokes from the serious ones lol
People are just weird
I mean his explanation still doesn’t make sense esp when you watch the clip again. First time SGA won and lost aura points
“aura points” hope you enjoy your 12th birthday party next month, little guy
… as should have been obvious.
And idea what question he thought he was answering? What wasn’t good in his eyes?
He’s often self deprecating. He probably thought it was a question about his own impact.
That makes more sense to me.
It’s because he’s Canadian
I wouldn’t say self deprecating, just holds himself to the highest standard, like most elite players do.
I think he meant Wembys Impact. Kind of trash talking.
That would also be weird.
I think he thought she asked about Wembys impact and was really not sure what to say, and “not good” is just kinda what came out cause hes exhausted and confused
What? How do people make up negative head cannon, every, single, time?
Why would it be trash talking?
It’s not negative imo, I am a Shai Fan. It’s just what I thought he wanted to say.
Honestly surprised misunderstandings in those on court interviews don’t happen more often. The noise, the adrenaline, the player is probably still thinking about the game.
I don’t know man everytime I see these on court interviews with the players or coaches they seem to never understand what the reporter is saying. They should honestly just get rid of it tbh
How many clicks were generated because of this stupid “drama?” That’s exactly why they’ll keep doing it
Yes it seems to happen pretty often for the NFL too.
Bet that arena is loud
Mitch Johnson was talking about how it’s so loud you kinda have to rely on the players communicating with each other since they can’t hear the coach
OKC always been that loud. since the 2012 days. Reminds me of roaracle
That’s what worries me about the new stadium we’re getting… when the Warriors moved their elite home court turned into just a good home court
Yeah, larger arena with less seats doesn’t sound very great
We haven’t got the different demographics issue that the Bay Area has where the arena move and upgrade significantly affects which fans can go to games. And I don’t think the capacity is changing much either.
Hopefully it’s more like the new Clippers arena in terms of fan environment and less like Chase arena. It will be cool to have a state of the art venue tho. I love the current arena, but it’s pretty plain and fairly dated in a lot of ways
Yeah lol the new Arena is unironically across the street from the Paycom center, like legitimately 50 feet away 😂 and this state fuckin adores the thunder so if they engineered it with the loudness in mind shit should be incredible
And the footprint is going to be 1⁄3 bigger
I’m pretty sure I read they did engineer it with the loudness in mind and have designed it in ways to reflect noise and make it louder.
EDIT: The article in The Oklahoman is behind their paywall, but here’s the headline:
“Architect says new OKC arena design will amplify Thunder’s home-court roar: ‘Turn it up to 11’”
That’s fair… in general I just worry about stadium moves (regardless of how far) like the Chiefs potentially moving to Kansas is a bad idea I think bc they have one of, if not the best post season atmospheres at arrowhead
I think the biggest thing with moving arenas and stadiums is a risk of changing who can attend games due to physical relocation or getting priced out, which I don’t think will happen in OKC’s move
The architecture can have an impact but there’s nothing special about the Paycom’s architecture and allegedly the new arena was designed with acoustics in mind so that shouldn’t be an issue either. But having been to Climate Pledge in Seattle, I’m really excited to have a venue of that caliber in OKC
Also raised ticket and concession prices… thankful I was able to get to my first game this year to experience it before they move
I like how you said “before they move” even if it’s right across the street haha
The warriors play in San Francisco where to even live there you have to be making 6 figures. OKC is still selling tickets to the same exact regular joe ass people they always have been and it’ll still be electric
Mitch has been yelling in this series in a way I’ve never seen before, makes sense
That’s where Bryant playing ball in the deaf community becomes our secret weapon
No shit Sherlock. Stadiums are loud, imagine being down there.
why are you this way?
Bulls fan
Thanks for Caruso.
Is this supposed to be a gotcha lol.
It’s a thank you.
lol I was roughly quoting what the opposing teams coach who has played at every arena in the nba said specifically about our arena at half time today
We pride ourselves on being known as loud city, we love our team
Thunderous crowd one might say
On Monday’s game up in the 300s my Apple Watch was pulling readings between 95-118db the entire game. Noah’s ark can’t even contain these animals
Loud City
Thunderous
And people were saying he was being sarcastic? Man ppl are dumb sometimes
Because people were trying to make sense out of a nonsensical answer
Yeah I feel like people are overblowing everyone’s reactions which mostly boiled down to “that was weird…” and then guessing why it was weird. Im sure there were some dumb comments but most people just brushed it off as a joke or were just openly confused because it would’ve been out of character. Not a serious situation and I don’t think most people were taking it overly seriously either they were just interested.
I thought it was an inside joke or him making fun of IHart being called “unplayable” against SA and Wemby
I mean, it’s not that crazy to think he could’ve been sarcastic if he said “Im not sure it was good”, like that sounds like he’s fun of all the people that said Hartenstein would be unplayable this series.
It’s more the way he said it idk man
It’s called a dry humor and it’s not uncommon?
It isn’t but if even he says he wasn’t joking then it isn’t crazy that most people indeed thought he was not joking
It’s crazy when the people who thought he wasn’t joking were trying to say he out of nowhere just threw shade at a teammate. The people saying it sounded like dry humor at least knew something was up
A lot of socially inept people are deeply insecure and constantly searching for an opportunity to project that onto others.
Claiming to hear nonexistent sarcasm is a perfect example of how they’ll try to make it look like they understood something others didnt.
The people saying it was dry humor were trying to make sense of something completely uncharacteristic amongst all the speculation. It’s odd to try them make them into the antagonists here, not the people insisting it was an intentional slight
The majority of people I saw who said it was sarcasm also went out of their way to insult the people who correctly said it wasn’t.
Every person I saw saying it wasn’t was implying it was an intentional slight, which is more wrong than those who understood it was uncharacteristic and not something to start drama over
That’s bullshit. There are quite obviously multiple people in every thread wondering if he misheard the question, myself included.
That’s not true at all, I can’t find a single top comment saying he may have misheard, including any of yours
https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/1tj818h/sga_on_hartensteins_impact_tonight_im_not_sure_it
Lol nobody said they were top comments. If you look at all comments it’s quite obvious. This is silly of you.
So you said it’s bullshit that I saw comments say one thing because you saw some random comments that said something else lmao? As I said, every comment I saw saying it wasn’t sarcasm was implying it was a slight. I can’t find any upvoted comments saying it may have been misheard
It’s bullshit that you’re pretending the comments that prove you wrong don’t exist.
There were a lot of comments in the duplicate threads that were insulting anybody who said it wasn’t sarcasm. In one thread the top comment was straight up calling other people autists for not getting it.
Yeah sarcasm didn’t make sense to me at all because his tone didn’t convey sarcasm at all. Its hard to explain.
But trying to make sense of something that was never gunna make sense had many of us grasping at straws.
Why would that be dumb? In real time it just came off as a joke that didn’t land.
He looked the reporter dead in the eye when he said that lol. Not even a slight look of mischief
Never trust a human bro
It’s a great reminder of what r/nba is comprised of
it looked like he was making a joke. he had a sly look on his face after, and it obv didn’t land
He was, he’s just trying to cover now for the poor delivery, I’m cringe and would do the same.
I hate you mfs 😂
Mfs got a whole story in their heads to go against what is right infront of them. They should write a fan fiction goddamn
Yo, since you so good at mind reading. Riddle me this, Borbs.
What am I thinking of right now?
Was gettin this vibe too. Like, it’s ok man even LeBron has some bloopers
If you watched the whole interview you could tell he couldn’t understand a single thing she said and was just freestyling his answers. That arena is so fucking loud when a game ends, TV does not do it justice.
He heard „Wemby“ and „Impact“ and thought it was about Wemby. Very obvious to me idk.
Curious if you commented in any of the other threads defending OKC’s intentional dirty play
Dude the game is over. Spurs lost. Get over it. Series is 1-1 going back to San Antonio. You people on reddit cry more than the actual people playing the game lmao. You think Wemby is sitting in the locker room right crying about OKC playing “dirty”. No. He is focused on winning the next game. Get the fuck over it
My favorite comment I’ve seen in this sub in a long time. Kudos 🫡
Bro what LMAO
NIGHTMARE NIGHTMARE NIGHTMARE the boogeyman OKC are gonna get you tonight bro!!
Such a weird comment you dropped here
My god
It’s people like this crying in every fucking thread and then when you say some shit back people be like “OKC fans so defensive!!” Get a grip it’s a fucking game.
As someone with selective hearing, I feel that
Fuck, I hate just nodding because I didn’t hear shit
Say that again?
exactly, thag
WHAT?
Mawp
So many people got on their high horse and said “it was obvious sarcasm but neck beards don’t understand sarcasm”
Always a clown show on reddit. Way to show your ass
The answer was still closer to sarcasm than whatever theory the dumbasses who thought he was bad mouthing Hart came up with…
Whatever question he thought he was answering, he was holding back a smirk while he said it.
People trying to make sense of a nonsensical answer… all takes are equally stupid
I disagree. SGA has never called out a teammate. There was 0% chance he was bad mouthing Hartenstein after a big win.
No the people trying to genuinely argue that he accidentally slipped up and admitted to cheating were definitely giving stupider takes than “it’s sarcasm”
Like you can’t even equate the two lmao
Vast majority of the top comments were people clowning Shai for trying to joke and it not landing lol what are you talking about
I was in the thread pretty early and then left so they may be different comments at the top now
They were saying that to make sense of his answer in response to people thinking it was an intentional slight. Weird to think they were the antagonists here
Also not understanding what dry humor is may be a diagnosis
They were calling people saying he misheard the question “autistic neckbeards for not seeing obvious sarcasm”
And now he confirmed he misheard the question but no that’s not antagonizing people at all
All the top comments I see were pretty plainly saying they think it’s dry humor because it’s out of character, not insulting? And they were right that there was more to it
Ok so we’re talking about different comments. This was what was near the top of the thread early on but now it’s not near the top which is a good thing. The comments I’m talking about were calling people stupid for saying anything other than sarcasm
I wasn’t even at the arena and I thought she asked how the overall gameplan was. I didn’t hear Hartensteins name at all
What? So reddituser77593’s theory about how he hates Hart and wants him sent to Azkaban wasn’t true?
Bro looks like a discount Blade.
Obviously. Dont know why some weirdoes on here thought he would randomly throw iHart under the bus lol
i can’t believe he had to clarify this
I honestly didn’t even know what she said either on the tv
Sorry bro the great minds of this sub have decided that he was actually trying to call Hartenstein out for being rough with Wemby (cuz Spurs definitely weren’t mauling SGA all game)
Numerous upvoted comments all over this sub saying he was genuinely trying to call his teammate bad after a post season win loooool I love the next level stupidity this place reaches in the playoffs
OKC plays physical and aggressive defense, but the team they’re playing against can’t play that same defense. It’s the biggest double standard in sports.
They were allowed to game 1
I was wondering about that myself
i guess you could say his first answer was a flop
It’s like when you’re at the club and you already asked them to repeat themselves twice so you just nod your head
He did a good job pulling hair and holding Wemby all game while Jedi mind tricking the refs into seeing none of it. TBH that’s the only way he stays on the floor this series
It wasn’t sarcasm and he did hear her. Hilarious you take someone backtracking as proof he didn’t mean to say something
I anticipate First Take talking about Thunder locker room drama tomorrow
Then they are going to say they are trading everyone for Giannis to team up with SGA lmao
Israel Hartenstein is getting put in the basket next game
It wasn’t sarcasm
He did hear it though
Me when I lie
“i played 51 minutes last game and in a moment of exhaustion i accidentally commited a Kinsley gaff”
I really try hard to like this man because he’s so fucking talented but fuck this team of hoes
You’re a warriors fan bro lol. Stop talking
Likely story
Literally only saving this cause his joke didn’t land lol
They aren’t going to care about this lol
Lies. He just can’t admit he was trying to make a joke that fell flat… wow even his jokes flop. Oof.
Nice dude you repeated the top comment of another thread, epic joke
Oh well, didn’t see that though so this was my original thought anyway
Sure thing bub
Nah
Shai bitchass Alexander walking back his comments. He knew damn well what she said and he knows that Hartenstiens play was gonna be in the news until their next game and all the hate they’ve already been getting for being flopping bitches. Such a pussy ass bitch
Lol your anger is really funny
Get it? I’m calling you a fuckin idiot
Education statistics in Oklahoma is really funny
You must be exhausted defending these floppers. Must suck to finally have a good team but not really be appreciated because of their antics.
What a stupid theory. Anyone who has a half-decent ability to pick up on verbal cues and general body language knows there was some miscommunication going on. The “it was obviously sarcasm, you’re an idiot!” take was ‘obviously’ a stretch as well despite how monotonous SGA can be sometimes.
But yeah, keep pushing your stupid narrative that he wants to talk shit about his teammate in the playoffs right after winning a game for doing the job (dirty work guy) they all knew he was out there to do before the game started. He was probably tired as fuck, the stadium is loud as fuck, and it’s easy to mishear/misunderstand and start babbling.
I watched it live, I can read people however I choose and that’s how it came off to me. He heard her loud and fuckin clear imo
“What impact did Isaiah have?”
“I’m not sure if it was good.”
“Explain that.”
“No, it was good.”
He heard it and then backtracked. Y’all are falling for the back track lol. She didn’t repeat the question.
You figured it out bro, your third eye is open bro and everyone else here is falling for it bro, epic bro
You’re mocking it without disputing it. How did he answer the second time without the question being asked again?
Ya cause never in your life has someone said something to you and you didn’t quite catch it a first, maybe even responded quick but then a few seconds later you processed what was actually said.
Are you trying to tell me someone might’ve misheard part of a question asked immediately after a win in a place nicknamed Loud City?!
Whatever you say, buddy.
I think l choose to believe the more logical choice of he actually didn’t hear it at first over actively shitting on his teammate after winning a playoff game.
And we all know Shai hates on his teammates /s
I’m not mocking bro I’m aspiring to your level real eyes realize real lies bro
What he meant was, “I’m not sure, it was good.”
He said, “I’m not sure if it was good” lol
Lol, I can’t read. Yeah he meant what he was saying then.
I edited my original post cause I didn’t have it exactly right, but yeah.
She did repeat the question though lol. Rewatch it and come back
