The problem with NBA officiating is the unwritten rules. Touch fouls in the regular season and let them play in the playoffs. Travels, carries, lane violations are inconsistent with the rules. Who is telling the refs to officiate differently, and can they not announce the change to everyone?

Great thoughts. Good nuance here. Interestingly Wemby also got a lot better looks from 3 with hartenstein guarding him. Spurs may go with all shooting and Wemby to combat that lineup or run more pick and roll especially if fox is back.

Spurs struggled on the glass today. I’ll have to rewatch if that was an effort thing or if it was scheme but a lot of those 50:50 balls did not go their way.

The thunder losing jdub is a huge factor. Last year they could absorb below average SGA games because of his scoring and penetration. The spurs losing Harper is also massive. You need as many ball handlers against this thunder pressure. Castle will turn it over more if the ball is always in his hand.

Lastly, the zone defense the spurs played in game 1 was ineffective tonight. Thunder shot it better but also were more aggressive getting into the lane and committing defenders. Will be interesting to see if San Antonio lets them shoot those 15 footers more rather and collapse in.

Great series, hopefully we get more games reffed by Zach Zarba. He seems more willing to control everything and not let the environment impact him compared to Tony Brothers who was very inconsistent tonight.
