[Russo] Stephon Castle now has the most turnovers (19) over any 2-game stretch in NBA postseason history.
Harden never broke this? Shocking tbh
Surprising to me too lol
This is almost 10 turnovers per game bro.
I’m still shocked. Houston Harden was a turnover magnet and the focus of every defense.
He’s tried
He held the previous record of 18.
[deleted]
If this goes more than 5 games hes breaking it
He might do it in 3
THERES STILL TIME
unfortunately theres only one game 7 a series in the playoffs💔
Harden always been pretty good as a handler.
He just been shooting tour dates in the playoffs
Harden has like 40 playoff games with more turnovers than field goals made
As I said, shooting tour dates lmao 4⁄17 type of stat line
That’s more because he’s had so many games with 5 or fewer field goals.
Never gonna forget that Game 6 vs the Spurs where he decided to quiet quit the entire game.
He was concussed. There’s man other bad Harden playoff games but that one was an obvious concussion.
Harden holds the record for most turnovers in a playoff game.
And owns the single season per game record with 5.7 in 2017.
True
Cade Cunningham not having broke it surprises me
Harden is way better than Castle lmao. Recency bias is crazy.
No one is comparing the two lol also Harden has the single playoff game record with 12. Once Harper was out spurs had no choice but to turn to their second year player as the main ball handler
The rookie had to save him from turning the ball over?
I mean Castle doesn’t get hunted like Harden lol.
Hes gonna break it tonight
Mostly unforced too. Crazy.
He is so damn sloppy and nonchalant with a lot of them
He makes a lot of bad decisions
Not typical for him. Averaged 3 turnovers per game coming into the series.
His turnovers always go up when Fox isnt around.
Is typical of him. He is a turnover machine. Early in the season he averaged the most turnovers in the league playing pg.
That’s still quite a lot when you consider Fox and Harper handle the ball… and Wemby can either bring it up or is a massive guy and quite easy to get the ball to.
Yeah, he looks flustered.
I mean he’s not really a point guard and he’s playing against the best defense in the NBA and you guys still almost won
Gotta stop crossing over in front of his body. OKC are eating off of that
He also loves trying to sling chest-high, cross-court passes in the halfcourt. Lol. Shit you’re taught not to do in gradeschool. It’s so upsetting. He’ll learn. Hopefully sooner rather than later.
He is a young off ball guard forced into playing pg in the WCF so you have to expect some mistakes/shakiness but the amount of live ball turnovers are wild. Spurs are gifting 20+ points per game off of these turnovers. OKC won the points off turnovers battle 28-17 in game 1 but it was 27-10 in favor of OKC in game 2. I don’t think OKC gets the same whistle in San Antonio but the live ball turnovers have to be managed especially if Fox/Harper are out or not at 100%. If am OKC, the scariest thought in the world is the spurs holding serve at home and then finally getting a clean game form their pg on the road in a potential elimination game. Wemby going full Area 51 in game 1 and then playing really well in game 2 has partially shielded Castle from the criticism he deserves IMO. When I was younger and played, we tracked live ball turnovers differently just because of the impact they have on the game.
In game 1 there were several not calked fouls. And in game 2 that half court vialotion was wrong also.
That bounce pass out of bounds at the end of the game was damning
Trade his ass for Giannis
Would be as bad as Luka for AD
Not really
his turnovers are so crazy
Literally 3 straight drives in fourth. It’s quite unbelievable. I don’t think the spurs have phoned it in yet… but if you let a player do that three times in a row, you kind of have shown your cards. Back to SA
There’s a difference between phoning it in and your only other healthy guard being a 30 year old who basically captains the scout team
They don’t have anyone else! Losing Harper mid game was pretty catastrophic
I believe one of the causes of his turnovers is fatigue. He has to literally slow down SGA on the defensive end and be hounded by good defensive players on offense. The absence of Fox is heavily felt because he and Harper now has the handle the ball more times on top of the heavy workload on defense.
He isn’t a PG but they have to use him. Not his fault
Uhhh it’s definitely his fault
This is why Spurs need Fox. This happened early in the season as well. It was obvious that Spurs lacked veteran leadership at pg position and as soon as Fox came back everything fit in to place and people started speaking like we don’t need Fox. Now I hope all can see that we need him. It is too early for Castle or Harper to handle OKC ball pressure.
Fox you better be back in G3
He has a high ankle sprain man
I got bad news for you…
He’s not a point guard
I actually think he is, he’s just being asked to do way too much as a second year guard against maybe the best group of back court defenders ever.
Spurs got no one else 😭
This is literally why they have Fox to take care of late game ball handling. Say what you will about Fox but he does not turn it over in tense situations (but he might clank it lol)
okay but that back court violation was some bullshit ngl. he didnt touch the line
The ball went beyond the line. That’s a violation.
And not only that, it happened twice in that possession.
it’s not backcourt if you haven’t dribbled the ball past halfcourt yet. That’s why the first one isn’t a backcourt. You know you can google these things
It’s just for some reason rarely ever called (mainly because it almost never happens)
No it didn’t
He dribbled the ball on the line.
He doesn’t have to the ball can touch the line and it is a violation. Looked like it did to me
Foot didn’t but ball did. That was valid and counts.
The ball did I think
[removed]
Weird how your flair always matches the defending champs 🤔
Ball went beyond the line and wasn’t called then two dribbles later, it hit the line and was called.
Looked close, would have loved to see a zoomed in replay of it.
Someone post that? it looked really close
Nah, Tony Brothers just didn’t call it at first. He was gonna let it slide but Castle was literally dribbling over the line for like 3 seconds
24 draft class is a nightmare bro. Maybe edey or ware will be the savior
Yikes joke lol
we’re down two pgs now man..
I feel like this is terrible roster construction. He’s not a natural PG and asking him to run the offense on top of playing stellar defense is just too much. They just need someone to handle the ball and to run the offense. I just find it hard to believe that someone wasn’t out there. Denver signed Tyus Jones off of waivers and he would have been perfect for this.
their starter and backup PG both got injured, you’re overreacting
And now your best perimeter defender has been tasked to guard the best opposing player, provide scoring, and to run the entire offense. It’s no secret why he’s had 20 turnovers. You mean to tell me that they don’t have anyone else that can handle the ball on their bench? If that’s the case, it’s poor roster construction.
Expecting a team to construct their roster on the assumption that their two lead ball handlers will be injured is unreasonable
Ooof this is the inexperience part. They are still very much ahead of schedule with their development but it’s one of the biggest reasons these games are close rn
I remember people saying similar things during OKCs run last year too
It’s his first ever playoffs and only in his 2nd year at age 21 against the best defense missing their starting PG.
They need Fox back
I got bad news for you….
he’s been playing kinda sloppy and really isn’t yet an NBA level PG yet but OKC is also out there pulling his hair and stuff
For the spurs future it’s fine, he’s off guard to Harper’s pg. Rn spurs need more of a nba pg however
He’s a 21 year old SG in the playoffs for the first time. Having him initiate the offense against the best defensive team in the league is a bad idea. Fox needs to come back asap.
who do you think should be initiating instead
Their only other option is Jordan Mclaughin
Fox needs to come back yesterday
I got bad ness for you…
He’s lost others too, they just end up in the hands of a teammate.
Hoo boy, these turnovers are killer.
But that one dunk tho!!!
Not a winning strategy tbh
He’s really gotta do a better job, we’ve kept it close but just too many turnovers.
James Harden will break this tomorrow.
Games not over. He just turned it over again. Make that (20)
We need fox back bad, especially if Harper needs to sit some games now. Castle is him but putting the ball in his hands a ton vs this okc defense is a big ask
Anyone have the replay? I swear he didn’t step over or on it?
He didn’t. The call was that the ball touched the line which is a violation
It doesn’t have to be his foot. It can be if they dribble the ball over the line as well (which it looked like he did)
AH the dribble did it. Guess it was just called late so it looked off! That makes sense.
Deandre Ayton level A S S
yep thats the game there I known the thunder have been dirty but they have played better then us tonight and not having fox sucks as well. but we haven’t been good enough and our inexperience has shown tonight
Can’t be a Castle if he don’t keep the ball safe
Coach needs to coach and put him in line.
Unbelievable haha! That was a winnable game 2. But yeah, Castle doesn’t function under pressure games like these lol
The team needs Fox, thats obvious. But some of these TOs, man. Castle must be better.
Phew…Cade finally gets a break
I think he can fix this with experience. It’s frustrating to watch as a fan, but I think someone as athletic and motivated as Castle finds a way to fix this issue in his game.
It wasnt just that he had turnovers. 1 didnt even count as a turnover that should have and killed 3 runs in the 4th quarter alone. None were forced. All just bad decisions
Didnt think id say this with all the young guard talent but I miss Fox Bring em back being em back
new westbrook
Castle is not their future superstar creator. That is Harper
Brodie merchant
He plays out of control sometimes
Why would the refs do this?
How could the refs and okc floppers do this to us?
Who does he think he is, Cade Cunningham??
Idk why this is crazy. He’s being asked to fill Fox’s shoes and then Dylan Harper goes down, and now he has more work handling the ball.
still more FG than TO tho unlike someone…
Who cares. They loss
No bUT iTS the rEfS!
But the officials
It is his fault guys. This is the worst mark in the history of playoff basketball. He does deserve blame. His job is to score for sure, but more than that it’s to protect the ball down the stretch. He’s a complete liability and they should really play someone else as the starter in game 3. He costs this team too much with his turnovers and this is tragically bad. You cannot win basketball games when 1 guard turns it over 10 times a game
Cade FC we’re free
But what about his hair!?!
How tf HOW? Was that a backcourt violation? Actual insane. I hate that Tony brothers has me defending the spurs but castle was literally not on the line at all??? Am I off dope n dog food??
The ball bounced on the other side of the court
Ohhhkay. Listen I see Tony brothers and okc and i see red.
This might be the time where you delf reflect on that maybe lol
The ball looked like it hit the line
just watch a little more carefully, use the eyes you’ve been given and try to keep them on the ball.
My eyes are too busy watching ur guys fly around the court flopping my b
Dude is the fakest PG in the league. Wonder how many of his assists are just chucking shit up to Wemby.
I still like him more than Harden lol
If they give him a big contract they kill the wemby era. Absolute ass player.
??? redditors r so unbelieavable reactionary. Castle is a baller, he just needs to get more experience and have more ppl to share the ball handling load
Seriously, I’m from Tulsa and would want this dude in a heartbeat. Wild shit.
Dude should’ve had 25 turnovers in two games. He’s just a scorer. Those aren’t rare. Cant handle the ball at all
Hes one of the main reasona Spurs are even making this deep run
He’s only 20. And was by far their best scoring option.
how can the refs do this
I mean, they just called an over and back where there wasn’t one. The other 18…
no but the refs are the reason hartenstein and chet didn’t foul out hours ago
lol ridiculous take.
By letting OKC foul constantly on one side
Shut up
You shut up
lol. How many points have the thunders won just off ref decisions going their way? I’d wager it’s even more than these turnovers
This but unironically stupid asf backcourt call
They literally called an over and back that wasn’t an over and back that gave him this lol
