In Australia, how many games an athlete has played is incredibly important. We always refer to our AFL players as 300 game players, 200 game players etc.. Players also celebrate their millstone games. It’s especially topical at the moment as this week the all time games record for AFL is being broken.

As someone hugely unfamiliar with Australia ball, how do players who spent time in the NBA get received compared to guys who stick strictly to the National leagues? Is there often a level of extra fame involved and do they often perform at a noticeably higher level? Honestly, there are more NBA fans in Australia than people that follow the NBL. So NBA players are always the pinnacle for most basketball fans, but the NBL diehards obsess over the local talent that never head overseas. For the most part, when we talk about the National team ahead of the World Cup or Olympics, it’s who do we fit around our NBA players.

If there’s ever a meet and greet or anything like that, it’s nba players people care about

For the NBA slob fans Joe started his professional basketball career playing for the short-lived South Dragons NBL Franchise (Melbourne, Australia) in which he won a championship with before heading to Europe to further develop his basketball career.

So yes he is coming home however as someone who watch him play as a teenager I would say the South East Melbourne Phoenix would be the NBL Franchise would be the replacement for the South Dragons.

Melbourne United used to be known as the Melbourne Tigers the rivals of the South Dragons during that time.
