Oklahoma City skyline showing love for Shai’s 2nd straight MVP
Alright, everyone get your skyline jokes in. The post teed it up for you, knock it out of the park.
They’re about as creative as Oklahoma is educated.
NBA fanbase has the least funny people out of all the sports
Is this true? I only follow the nba but I actually used to think r/nba was pretty hilarious before I started seeing the same Shai funny faces and Oklahoma education joke in every thread.
r/nba is occasionally funny, then once a joke actually lands they beat it into the ground over and over and over
i don’t even find joy in the oklahoma education joke anymore. it stopped being funny
Not even just this sub, the entirety of Reddit
Its just the nature of humanity. I’m told Im funny but Im also told I’m corny because I run bits into the ground.
A improv guy I watch got a trophy for doing the same bit x number of times and he joked this a trophy you dont want.
The nature of being human is playing the hits. 🤣
It never was. It’s just a sad state on education funding levels and priorities.
Listen here asshole, as an Oklahoma resident, you’re right
It’s a national thing not just Oklahoma. Education has been suffering for years across the US
I completely agree, but I do think it’s exacerbated here.
Also double OT let’s go
There was some great comedy going around here back in the 2010s.
After Covid, just like everything else, this place also turned to shit when it comes to jokes. Or that’s how I always felt like, idk.
I think a lot of normies got hooked on the Internet and reddit in particular during COVID and the WSB mania in 2021. It kinda ruined the vibe in a lot of subreddits.
It was 2016. Now every joke on this sub needs a political disclaimer about where you align
LeBron returning to Cleveland and Curry catching fire was such an electric time.
KD joining the Warriors the discourse started feeling inevitable. LeBron vs the Warriors. Warriors crush the Cavs.
Gobert tapping the microphones really felt like this insane hate-everyone-and-everything started appearing in every thread. The bubble wasn’t real basketball, we didn’t get a real off season. No one got actual rest. Nothing counts if my team lost.
This sub used to be pretty funny 5-10 years ago.
Folks who were around back then will remember that there were tons of fantastic shitposts: like “Ish Smith: is a point guard,” “Derrick Rose on all 30 teams,” “Why Lebron will sign with all 30 teams,” “Ben Simmons = Mona Lisa,” and so many more.
Unfortunately, I can’t remember the last time there was a funny shitpost here. The discourse has become much more negative/hateful/cynical here vs back then. And along with that loss of levity has been a loss in the snappy sense of humor and lighthearted vibe. It’s unfortunate.
I mean they are 48⁄50 in education ranking. Not great.
Omg you’re so funny.
Yes we have a shitty state…but that’s why I feel so blessed to have the Thunder…so blessed to have Sam Presti… even before a Championship, just to be able to drive down the street and watch people like KD and Russ play against other NBA greats was an amazing night out…still is 😊
Oh you’ll hear the “ethical” joke regarding spurs 100 times this playoff
Which is in response to the unethical joke about the Thunder. Thunder hate has really brought the fun down.
I don’t think that’s a joke I think peopl legitimately believe that (right or wrong)
Idk if Hockey fans could tell a joke from a proposition tbf
The funniest NBA jokes are from Twitter that get beaten to death here.
During the 2013 to 2017ish era, both places were very funny and Twitter would steal from Reddit as often as Reddit would steal from Twitter.
Now both places are shadows of their former glory.
idk what you mean, NBA Twitter is still GOATed
NBA Twitter can still be hilarious I think lol
We have as many jokes as you have states above you in education /s
Technically a line is the distance between two points, so they nailed it.
Technically a line is defined by two points, but extends beyond them infinitely
Pretty impressive they were able to coordinate both of their skyscrapers to do this.
I wish I could get a joke in, but that’s still more modern than the San Antonio skyline :,)
They don’t have enough buildings to write his full name
damn i really wanted to, as well hahaa.
I’ve seen grain silos create more of a skyline than this.
Where’s Bush when you need him to rearrange a city’s skyline?
TIL OKC has a skyline
Frankly I wasn’t sure if they had electricity
Oklahoma isnt Idaho
Well yeah, Idaho has scenery
And half an applebees powered by churn
Ralph: I am Idaho
Common mistake, you’re thinking of Utah
Utah does not get enough hate here
Utah is quite scenic…
Zion, Arches, Bryce, on and on. Southern Utah is one of the most gorgeous places I’ve driven through and I’m born and raised in Southern California.
Oklahoma has nothing even close to that
I didn’t say it wasn’t I just said it deserves more hate lol
Each state offers something unique. I don’t get why people just want to shit on every place that isn’t NYC, LA, or whatever.
Utah is a nice vacation spot, especially with how remote and uncrowded it can feel compared to other parts of the country
You should move there.
I would match rather be there than anywhere that is the Great Plains. I would die of boredom after 3 days in Oklahoma.
I’m good in LA. Or maybe I’d go back to Jerusalem. That’s it though
Probably 75% of the time that the word “Utah” or “Jazz” is in the comments you can count on some variation of this electricity/internet/whatever technology comment
They should bring up Missouri kicking out the Mormons under threat of death more tbh lol I just hate Mormonism so I love to shit on Utah, I hate most of Oklahoma for similar reasons but OKC and Tulsa are hella multicultural, Utah is just white trash with money
The average mormon isnt white trash at all. More like blond twink working in B2B sales and driving a Tesla
Which is funny, because they have a booming tech sector here. It’s also funny because companies move here from cali for the tax favoribility. But I’ve heard secondhand that some of them aren’t happy with the work culture. People here either have huge families, or they’re here for the outdoor recreation. Ain’t nobody working all that free overtime they get from the engineers in silicone valley.
Gotta cook that meth somehow
They’d have a lot more blackouts if not for the fireflies.
Mostly, we just cook meth in our teepees. Electricity is only needed to charge our phones and post on reddit.
Can anyone from OKC confirm if those are the two tallest buildings in the city?
The Devon Tower on the left is the tallest building in the state
Evil ass building. Idk what they do in there but last time I was in OKC, I drove in at night and it was just a big orange triangle, looked like a Bond villain lair.
The Devon tower is, there are like four or five sized like the other. There are rumored plans to build the tallest building in America named the Legends Tower.
(I personally don’t think it’s happening though)
That reminds me of that wild Frank Lloyd Wright skyscraper he wanted to build in Chicago that would have been 1 mile high
The only skyscraper he did build is in Oklahoma: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Price_Tower?wprov=sfla1
Depends if Chets in town or not
Yes, Devon (left) is 844 feet tall and bancfirst is 500 feet tall. The angle perspective is making them look similar heights but they aren’t.
For reference the tallest building in Portland is 546 feet tall.
Yea it’s these two buildings lol
Are you Kidding? Everyone is high in Methlahoma
Spider-Man would not thrive here
I mean, I wouldn’t call that a skyline, but sure lol
Notice how they didnt pan around, just focused on the two buildings
Not really much of a line
OKC has a skyline in the same way that I have a hairline.
^I^am^very^bald
TIL Oklahoma has buildings
Skyline = 2 moderately spaced buildings
A line is two or more points, so I guess a skyline can be two or more buildings
Wemban9/11 is coming to town
Times Square of OKC
Times Square East
Omg that’s gorgeous I gotta put Oklahoma on my bucket list now
r/brandnewsentence
“Skyline”
That’s definitely the skyline of all time
The Tall tower has a dope ass bar at the top. They send their bartenders to France and shit to learn insane techniques.
France you say
I can’t imagine getting to go to France to learn and then having to come back to Oklahoma City.
It’s gotta be like North Korean Olympians where they keep the families hostage to prevent escapes
Oklahoma is actually the Mecca for food. Their exquisite delicacies are world renowned, having the most Michelin star restaurants in the world. If you know food, this is the place to go. /s
Probably just go to Paris Texas but they’re not smart enough not know better
Is the skyline with us?
Skyline lol
very nice, I can see the lettering on both buildings clearly!
They even put the letters in the correct order. All 3!
A normal positive comment? How dare you.
I’m genuinely not trying to sound like a snob but it really is crazy that OKC has the back to back MVP and one of the most dominant teams of all time. If you’re ever been there it truly is a very small market city in the middle of nowhere.
I mean have you seen Green Bay Wisconsin?
Yeah but the Packers have been around since 1919
“One of the most dominant teams of all time” is certainly a take
Posting this with no other buildings in the background was just asking for this response
All these people now believe this is how the entire skyline looks lmao
You say that like a fuller view would vindicate you:
https://wallpapercat.com/w/full/d/2/5/1399660-2560x1708-desktop-hd-oklahoma-city-skyline-background-photo.jpg
Yeah not much of a skyline but that’s a dope shot if I’m being honest
It’s almost as if perspective matters
In this case, a different perspective isn’t doing much to improve your argument my guy
Lmao what exactly is the argument being proposed
That what you consider a proper skyline in fact is what most mid-sized American cities look like in general. Simple as that. The fact that one building is particularly tall doesn’t really change that, it’s just a dick measuring contest that only OKC is participating in
And now can you look back at our comments and find where that argument was proposed?
Also, to play into your fake argument, a particularly large or different shaped building is like, exactly what defines a skyline. Im not saying it looks too different from other cities, but I am saying it has it’s recognizable view
The argument was that “This camera angle makes our city looks bad.” You proposed that it’d look better if taken in from a different angle. My point was “No the fuck it does not, if anything, it undermines OP’s point because now we know there’s angle manipulation.”
Now go back a third time, reread this entire thread, and I mean like the whole thing. Make sure to analyze each word as you read them. It typically helps to sound out each syllable as you read it. If that doesn’t work, ask an adult nearby to read what it says. After they do, make sure to ask them exactly what it means and how they change the sentence. You’ve got to make sure you understand what the word does to convey different meanings. Once that’s done, rewrite the comments in your own words. That will help you understand them better. After everything is done and you feel you truly comprehend what you’re reading, go fuck yourself. If you don’t like the one recognizable building of the city, just say that, instead of having a baby fit. To finally engage with this fake ass argument you’ve been having with yourself: meh, the skyline is okay. I like the colors of the lights at night, or that the whole city is blue and orange during games, but the Devon tower is obviously the peak.
There’s like 4 fucking buildings lmao there is no skyline
You’re not the sharpest spoon in the drawer, huh?
That looks quite different than the zoomed in video of 2 building lmao
Yeah, it makes you realize that OP made the second building look taller than it really is so that OKC seems to have a more impressive skyline than it does! If it wasn’t for the tall vanity project building, it’d look like Albany:
https://www.mortgagecalculator.org/images/albany-skyline.jpg
So number of super tall buildings is a direct way to measure how a skyline looks?
Yes, it literally is:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skyline?wprov=sfti1
I guess if youre going off the literal definition lmao🤣 but if you prefer a zoomed in photo of 2 buildings compared to a full view of a skyline then you do you
I’m saying OKC doesn’t have an impressive skyline at all. You’ve got one particularly tall building, then the rest look exactly like what a city of OKC’s size should have. I’d never put it on a shirt and expect people outside the city to recognize what it is from the silhouette, that’s for sure.
Ok? I wouldn’t wear a shirt with your cities skyline either lol
it’s not that much different lmfao
That one tower is like, the focal point of OKC
OKC - where skylines go to die
Actually the sky is murder in tornado alley
That quote sounds familiar. Where is it from
Didn’t realize the twin towers were in OKC
I checked the sub I was in twice. This is hilarious.
yeah, even i had to double check lol
That’s an impressive skyline
Putting chili on spaghetti created a more impressive Skyline than this
Skyline chili is worse than prison food
I appreciate you spelling out my point 🤝
LMAOOOO “skyline”
Tf is that. Culver City got a better skyline than that lol
Its a close up of two buildings
That would’ve been dope if there was lightning and thunder in those clouds.
There will be tornadoes soon
Playoffs do coordinate well with tornado season in Oklahoma
Yeah, I live a few hours east and the weather is super humid here
Pretty grim ngl
Still blows my mind that OKC of all places has an NBA team.
Fr you’d think Seattle would have a team
This success must be so good for OKC. I lived there for a year when they made the finals back in 2012 and everyone loves that team. SGA dresses weird but he seems like a good person. Good for Oklahoma man they’ve got the Thunder, red dirt, and that’s about it
For the people complaining, yeah it is a SKYLINE. What’s the problem? I can see the sky behind those two buildings, therefore it is a skyline
Checks flair….
LINE OF SKY 🌌
Solidarity, brother.
Damn okc skyline about as cool as watching the actual team play
Tbf Denver’s ain’t shit either lol
Mountains are fucking lame
I see we are now adding “skyline“ to terms being used extremely loosely
This is cool in theory but the execution is underwhelming.
OKC is about to build the tallest building in the USA
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legends_Tower
And I have some oceanfront property in Arkansas to sell you.
They’re not actually going to build that. It’s a development strategy.
No the fuck we aint lol, it’s a PR stunt to impress our smooth brained governor to get his backing on the development as a whole.
It looks a little out of place
In This economy?
Who the hell asked for this 😂
There is ZERO need for this
You need at least three buildings. That’s a mf baseline
Losing to two building skyline cities yuck
What is this 1990?
Worse skyline than Cincinnati’s chili
That’s a skyline?
I never really care about skylines anyway 😒
The word Skyline is as deserving in this sentence as shai was of MVP award this year
Everybody is such a salty little crybaby. Who shit in your cereal? Lmao.
Making fun of where people live just cause your basketball team isn’t in the conference Finals.
all your comments in this thread will surely change people’s opinions
By presumably people who had tangible impacts to the cities they live in.
Y’all laugh all you want, but there will be a pixilated Larry O at the top of that building next month. 🖕 for the haters
was SGA in comic sans?
SGA
MVP
2
When SGA and MVP have more letters than the OKC skyline has buildings….
I think the 2 is just to remind everyone how many buildings are in downtown OKC.
I know everybody getting their jokes in but there’s something cool about this video to me. I think it being gloomy to kinda match the team name and the fact that it’s understated and literally only to be seen by the residents of OKC fits the city and the team
Like two horns rising out of the devil 👿
r/skyscrapers 😂🌇👀
OKC is a shithole
This isn’t Israel
Why was there a preacher praying for me before the game
Wheres the rest of it
Two skyscrapers, symbolizing the 2 shots at the line for SGA
Should have been Jokic
Nobody that gets punked by Gobert or Caruso in the playoffs should ever win MVP again
Haven’t watched any ball this season huh?
2 free throws for Shai
Would be more accurate if they had one of the buildings fall over for no reason.
28 should fall, but 3 should stand tall
Maybe think about that cities history before making comments like that.
That champions ship parade was so funny it looked like a farmers market
[removed]
Why even post this
Enjoy timeout
Bro felt so tuff writing this to me
School night. Don’t be mad your Nuggets can’t victimize sub 50 win teams in the playoffs
Lmao bro you are weirdly sensitive crying bout emojis
