It was Nike taking over. They’re used to soccer, where the kits changes every year (so the fans can buy new ones), and they tried a mixed model between that and the tradition in US sports where teams maintain their identities for long periods and only change with big rebrandings. The result is this mess with the city editions that are ever changing that sometimes become more popular than the bland main ones and sometimes deviate so much from the team’s identity that they become unrecognizable. You add weird rules about throwbacks and the identity of lots of teams become this mangled thing that no one can make sense of. Are the Cavs colours burgundy and gold or is it navy blue? Because they seem to like the throwbacks more than the main jerseys. Are the Spurs going to fully embrace the Fiesta colours or are they still officially the silver and black?

If we get rid of the fiesta jerseys already I’m gonna be so fuckin mad dude that and black/silver is our identity, that’s all we need for the next decade
