[Krawczynski] Mike Conley says he does plan to play another season. Says the way he played in the playoffs proved to him he can still do it.
Veteran team looking for a back up pg might give him a shot
Timberwolves probably bring him back. He’s a huge part of their locker room.
If they can extend Ayo, then Conley wouldn’t actually have to consistently play in the regular season. They could let him rest for a long period leading up to the playoffs.
I don’t think they’d be able to rest him that much. They don’t have a starting PG and they’re already down one guard going into the regular season next year
He’s gonna rest it’s not hard doing it in the regular season bones Shannon Ayo all can take the minutes
Ayo would be the starting pg
He’s not a PG
DiVincenzo wasn’t a PG either. Ayo’ll get the starting PG spot.
More of a pg than devo
See it’s not just the owners of the bulls can’t see potential even their fans are the same Lmaoaoa
Ayo is a good player but he isn’t the type of PG Minnesota needs. Literally young Mike Conley is the pass first, offense settling pg they need.
Or maybe I watched him for years and know better than your dumbass.
They barely use a PG lol. It’s like having floor general PGs when you got Bron or Joker. It ends up being a wasted spot on the roster.
Rondo showed that giving LeBron a floor general is not a bad thing if he is a role player. It’s only when the floor general is a star that needs touches that he gets diminished by the amount of touches LeBron uses.
But they don’t have anybody like LeBron or Jokic. They have no facilitator. Ant is a superstar but he can’t be your PG
The Wolves don’t have LeBron or Jokic though. Their lack of a true PG almost certainly has held them back.
Maybe… they should? They might be unnecessarily limiting the teams potential.
Who exactly is the LeBron or Jokic in this analogy? Cause I wouldn’t exactly say Ant or Randle or McDaniels have those kind of floor general chops. They need someone to run their offense and while Ant has improved in that regard, he still definitely seems like a shooting guard to me.
We could bring him back too. Bringing back Hornets legend Mike Conley to be a mentor to Melo and our other young guards and let Coby White play more at the 2 would be great
There’s a reason the Spurs signed Chris Paul.
He’s going to stay in Minny. We released him this season when we got him again because his family has roots there now.
Wait, what? We never got Mike back.
Wonder if that person is a Wolves-Grizzlies fan. “We” probably meant as the Wolves
He can mentor a young team the way CP3 mentored Wemby and the Spurs last season.
Wizards perhaps 🤔
So the Wolves try to keep him then
Sacramento kings are open for business
Why not? He still has something left in the tank. Would make a good backup PG.
He was awful outside of the playoffs this year. The tank is about empty at this point.
He’s a 38 year old vet, it’s insane to expect him to be amazing all season without breaks like he’s LeBron. The fact that he wasn’t awful IN the playoffs is exactly what would be wanted out of him and shows he still has a role. He shouldn’t be someone for regular season rotation but he’s a vet pg that we can rely on being able to slot in when it’s playoffs time
He wasn’t even like “ok” all year, he was legit awful. Just Finch loves to keep him in the games.
He will be 39.
We just saw the future of the league run circles around us in the smaller players the Spurs have.
The answer is a 39 yr old guard? Please.
An A+ locker room guy who can give spot minutes as a third string PG isn’t “the answer” to anything but it’s something a lot of teams would love to have.
If you don’t want him I hope my team takes him.
Does that happen often? Where an underplayed healthy player suddenly gets minutes ahead of guys who played the whole season?
If the players ahead of him shit the bed, why wouldn’t they? Imagine having Horford backing up Randle - they might’ve stolen one more game.
Honestly, Rondo did that for the Lakers in the bubble.
He was okay for the regular season, missed about half the season, but really flipped a switch in the playoffs.
Was he THAT good to warrant playoff minutes next year? I mean he averaged 50% on 3 shots this postseason. If Conley gets the same amount of playing minutes next year then I don’t think we did a good enough job filling our weaknesses over the offseason.
You don’t expand your rotation in the playoffs
We did the same with Iggy his last couple of years
So he was great when it mattered most?
Yea doing it for a whole season vs just showing up in the playoffs is way different. He’s basically gonna half ass all season for the playoffs lol which maybe will work if yall get a competent starting pg
He was ass this playoff aside from 2 games
It’s pretty crazy, when they were drafted, Greg Oden was seen as the generational talent but was out after a few years. Mike Conley was the project player but has been in the league for almost 20 years as a 6-foot point guard
I’m not sure he does have anything left. He was really bad during the regular season and while he turned back the clock on offense during the playoffs, he was still a major target on the defensive end. That said, vet minimum where he doesn’t take minutes from developing players (like he did this year) is fine with me. If he is good with 5-10 minutes a game like he played in the playoffs, then he’s probably worth the minimum.
Finch loved to play him 15-20 minutes no matter what this year and I think it hurt the development of guys like TSJ and Clark. I get they needed a ball handler but he really didn’t do much of that this year, was more or less a spot up shooter on the offensive end and not good at that (33% from 3).
We said this about CP too
He was great for the Spurs.
Had he just re-signed for the vet min, CP3 could’ve gotten a free WCF appearance
Hell, there’s a good chance he could win a ring had he stayed on the Spurs
Mike Conley is notoriously a great locker room guy, while Chris Paul destroyed the Clippers chemistry the first time around
Maybe clippers were the problem he left a good impression on the spurs and okc.
CP’s track record as a locker room guy is better than Mike Conley, even if you put the Clippers fully on him (which I don’t think is accurate).
What he did with OKC, the Spurs and the Suns is greater than what Conley has done for the Wolves.
He was ok with the Spurs and he did a good job mentoring Wemby and the other young players.
They’re also saying this about LeBron (but curiously not KD)
being unemployed is boring
Unemployed and rich sounds a lot more fun
No it’s not. When I was unemployed I was working out everyday, swimming, painting, smoking, playing games lol it was glorious
Downside was burning through my savings lmao
Its like the meme that says, “how unemployment looks when you clock into your new job” and its like rainbows, a utopia, etc. lol

Tell her Con still doin it
I remember when Wolves traded Dlo for Conley I thought that it’s good win-now move but it does not fit the team’s current timeline since Dlo is way younger than Conley and would play more years. 3.5 years after the trade, D’Angelo is almost out of the league, while Mike is planning to play one more season. Sensational
isn’t he 45
A year older than Steph and KD
he played on the same college team as GREG ODEN
yeah he’s a vet lol
I respect it. He was great in our series and he’s still a great guy to have in the locker room.
I wouldn’t mind Mountain Mike returning to mentor Peterson
Honestly yeah I’d be down. Peterson aside (if we get him), Key, and Collier could probably learn a lot from Mike.
I bet hes back in MN or with a contender to ring chase
I was at the state championship game his senior year when him and Greg Oden’s highschool defeated Muncie Central. That starting five consisted of two NBA players and three D1 players.
Remember the Westbrook trade when the Lakers could have had Conley and NAW instead of D’Lo and Beasley, who are both now effectively out of the league
Good times
Beasley is out of the league for non-basketball reasons though. He’s arguably a more productive/useful player than Conley.
I’m still a bit annoyed about that deal. We basically strengthened the Wolves, whose picks we had control of. If we hadn’t done that deal (or just dealt with LA straight up) they would have still been stuck with DLo’s toxic ass and the picks we got from them would’ve been a bit better.
Also could have had the last good year of Bojan Bogdonovic
Is what it is tho.
Grizzlies
He will stay in Minny. We had him briefly this season and released him because his family has roots in Minnesota now.
Cant imagine he wants to spend his last year on a tanking team
Play the sport you love for as long as you can
Never forget his legendary block on LeBron last year. Come to Butthead Bite Bite
What is it with those late 2000s draft classes that got them more old man juice than the early 2010s classes?
The David goggins of the nba
MIKE COME HOME!!!
Against the nuggets he had some very key plays. Especially with such a mix of team injuries Id give it one more.
My GOAT
Please go to a franchise I can actually cheer for
He is my favorite player of all time and I hated seeing him in a wolves uniform
What could you have against the wolves? All we did is lose to you a few years ago
We’re gonna see Conley on a random team like Parker went to Charlotte
So..I believe Anthony Edwards is technically eligible for a contract extension. Next team for KD if the Rockets want to dump him?
Could they try to unload Randle + Donte and add Kevin Durant’s $45M?
Not as a starter tho
Any team getting a top PG this draft could use his wisdom
I mean he’s basically a 12 minute man now, but I’m sure lots of teams could use a guy like him. Hell, raps could use him for one more year
I still want him to get at least one technical before he hangs it up.
Conley is known for his great locker room morale and leadership so he easily gets signed by a team with young players if the wolves don’t want him
I think he proved he can play. But I also think most players who retired can play another 20-30 high pressure games the problem is going into another season usually means the expectation is 50-70 games
It’s not like he gets minutes when we are healthy.
Yeah boxing out Carter Bryant went so well. He’s still got it for sure. 😂😂😂
LeBron balling out got all the old guys gassed up. Now everyone thinks they can be a 40 year old NBA player. And they wonder why close games turn into blowouts once the 4th quarter starts
just typing just to type
LeBron was the best player in the league during that OKC series (if you stop watching games after the third quarter)
Good locker room leader but 38 years old and hasn’t been an All-Star in 5 years. Sounds like a future Sixer following in the footsteps of P.J. Tucker and Kyle Lowry.
It’s more like Minnesota is too fucking cheap to pay for a free agent.
He’d be on a minimum deal, presumably. And would probably be worth it for the vibes and mentorship alone.
tell us you don’t understand the salary cap lol
mike would be on a minimum like he is now
Are you signing a #2 for Ant in the next 2-3 years? No you are not because your ownership group has no money.
Your window closed with two WCF. SA and OKC are way better than your team. Ant is the new Devin Booker. All-NBA going nowhere.
You dont understand the salary cap. The wolves already have a top 5 salary roster. Id also love to hear the list of #2 caliber free agents that have been sitting in free agency.
Your team is done. You are cooked for the next 10 years. You can either watch Ant age out with no help or blow up the team. That was your window. Win this year or never.
Buddy, you don’t understand the salary cap.
Conley is on a minimum. He has literally no effect on whether or not we can bring in other guys
