Udonis Haslem rants on the lack of accountability in postgame conferences
Udonis Haslem transitioned to media extremely well
His pod with Mike Miller is a pretty good watch
I might need to check that out. I love this whole Amazon crew tbh
Ngl I tune in for Rooks, and I couldn’t really tell if I loved the show cuz of her or because it’s really good.
But dang I love this crew. UD is great. They all have solid banter and there’s a lot more decent analysis going on than the other shows imo
Lmao first watched cause you a freak boy.
It’s a top notch show
Nah it’s the whole thing, including her. It’s top notch and as you said really good analysis
Why would you lie?
NGL I watch because of Rook, but pleasantly surprised by the cast.
She’s so smart and beautiful, I think I chase a crush. The whole crew is amazing tho, very down to earth
UD and Uncle Mike are great together. They have some funny af episodes talking about the 2006 team and about their days at UF.
She’s married, chill out
The one(s) with Jason Williams were great. So many incredible stories.
Is it a good listen though? I don’t watch my podcasts I use them when I’m running or exercising or cooking.
It’s mainly conversations with ex or current players, so I’d say give it a shot even if you’re doing just audio.
My issue with the pod was their sound it was awful, hopefully they’ve gotten that taken care of
Udonis was a real pro a represented an ideal NBA player very well. There’s a reason why the culture in Miami was always highly regarded while he was there.
Obviously Riley sets the standard but you have to have your Vets that enforce those rules as well and he did an amazing job at it 7 trips to the finals and multi time champion
Absolutely. Jungle needs to correct itself.
…Jungle is crazy what
It’s a common phrase. Look it up.
He hold ppl accountable and build em up without that hater ass energy.. True OG
He’s just a well spoken guy that knows ball, he’s been fantastic. Now I know why the Heat had him as a extra coach/culture guy for so many years.
He’s been the best thing Prime has going for it as far as hosting League Pass. Great analysis
I think he would be a great coach in some capacity if he ever wants to do that. I love how he breaks down things on Prime
When Spo goes to the front office I would love for UD to become coach
Hes our VP of development. Not a coach in the traditional sense, but still an important part of the Heat
Ah. Well still a front office guy. Bit sad it isnt as a coach, there is a step removed as VP on interacting with the players
the more i see of him on TV the more I understand why the heat kept him for so long.
So has Dirk
This was an amazing rant because I know that shit burned him deep down seeing how nonchalant Cleveland was acting about everything. Undrafted dude who had to fight to stay in the league for a team that fights all the time, that’s just not how he’s wired.
Had a similar rant earlier in the night about Ant dapping up everybody with 8 minutes to go. Said two reasons it got on his nerves:
Those bench guys who were cheering for you all night are now out there playing and you owe it to them to give them your full attention like they did for you
He’d need that 8 minutes to calm down because he’s still ready to hit the roof about getting smacked like that
Dude makes me want to go to war for him every post-game lmao.
Yeah it’s clear why Heat kept him in the locker room so long even when he stopped being a rotation-level guy
Also, one of the actual tough guys with a thousand yard stare in NBA. I wouldn’t want to tell the man that his favorite flavor of coffee was out, let alone that he was fired.
Lol yeah for now on I’m choosing to believe that he retired at 43 because the Heat front office was just too afraid to tell him it’s time to go
Just imagine telling him he can’t have his cookies.
During his career it was widely understood that he is a great locker room guy, but this is a fantastic worked example of what that means. Shows how a voice like this can be the difference between closing out a series or elimination.
Yeah, you can just tell that he genuinely cares about the lack of effort, if he was your teammate you’d be hard pressed not to respond
People also overlook that he has always had elite level hot sauce IQ. Crystal is the shit. It’s not that spicy but the vinnegar will wake you up. Exquisite taste profile and cling. Rarely gives up second taste chances.
I think you could even make an argument it gets an all-first sauce nod if you consider the minimum meals used rule and aren’t wrapped up in media narrative.
Excellent for fired chicken.
Big facts
Crystal is my #1 go to. I can’t stand that Tabasco shit and I think it’s the most overrated hot sauce on the planet… but it’s the one that *every goddamn restaurant* has. I always get stoked if a restaurant has Crystal. A minimum 3x chance I’ll be a repeat customer if they’re carrying Crystal.
Big facts, Tabasco is weirdly sweet (though good on chicken salad)
Crystal should start in every pantry in the country.
El Yucateco or bust. Those vinegar tonics don’t have enough flavor.
Different things for Different things. For me Crystal is for southern food.
Cholua green or tapatio black for most latino food.
Aardvark reaper for when I actually want kick (prb what I use the most now)
I’ve never quite got into El Yucateo but I will have to run it back.
That’s fair, I wouldn’t put El Yucateco on fried chicken or other southern foods. But for eggs, anything Mexican/latin, hell even chili I’m going red, xxxtra hot, or Carribean Yucateco. If you’ve only tried the green its not bad, but red and xtra hot are much better IMO and have no food coloring added.
I like Aardvark too! Yucateco gives me more bang for the buck though and tbh I like it more.
this guy knows ball sauce
Texas Pete gang rise up
completely agree. Crystal clears
Yeah that’s soft coming from Ant. If he’ll not stay on the bench then go to the locker room. Coo!. BUT bro watch your teammates until the end then dap your opponents after.
But props to him though. He played his heart out without healthy knees. They’re team is just not built against OKC and the Spurs. They’re built against Denver that’s for sure. And missing Donte is kinda big ngl.
I knew once Donte went down and Ant was hampered it was over. That was all the momentum gone for them right there
Same, was happy to send Denver home one more time before the wheels fell off though.
Pyrrhic victory
I wonder if his medical team wanted him to get back to the locker room to immediately deal with his knees, so he wanted to make sure he dapped up the Spurs in case the PT took too long.
He did end up on the bench eventually.
Not one lie told. Mitchell played like it was a random Wednesday night in February. No one played perfect, but what he did was beyond just missing shots he usually makes. Watching the clips back he really looked like he didn’t give a damn on defense and played selfishly on offense despite being off all night. Usually Schroder and Harden are in his ear but I didn’t see it at all tonight.
The Mitchell we saw on the Jazz is just not there in Cleveland anymore. He just doesn’t want it the same way.
Mitchell played with fire until this season. Dude has regressed and his game won’t age well unless he turns into more of a playmaker and can stop someone on defense. Otherwise no one is giving a max to a streaky shooter who lost his athleticism. Dude can barely dunk now.
but he’s not a good passer and his vision isn’t great
My point exactly.
those things can be worked on though
it won’t turn Mitchell into Stockton but it doesn’t have to, he’s already a good scorer, simply having the opportunity of the pass as an option makes all the difference, you can hard double him because he won’t think of the pass until the last second and he isn’t even a good passer, if you know he has the technical ability to make a difficult pass out of nowhere you’ll be more hesitant to hard double
When Draymond goes for the drives it usually works because he rarely does it, only once or twice per quarter but he’ll do it to keep defenses honest (same with the 3, that one doesn’t work as well as the drives though)
He’s an undersized SG masquerading as a PG which is the entire reason they brought in Harden who has PG instincts. Eventually teams will realize you need true point guards to win modern basketball, only OKC can play a SG at PG, because they draft and trade for players who are fine just being a bystander in another player’s story. Most teams don’t have the same luxury (or a thousand picks to get some wrong).
I also get the impression that he has no interest in being a supporting star. He wants to be the number one guy, but isn’t a complete enough player to be that guy
You dont always need true PGs.
The big formula can work with a guy like Maxey or Fox or Brunson as your PG. Embid needs to become a lot more about playing the angles to setup his wings for drives. Will save him energy and falls. Mike Brown made a lovely offense with first Sabonis, now Towns is finally settling into thst role.
But if you have two guards/wings who neither are a true PG but trust each other with good off ball movement it can work also (see OKC).
In the modern NBA you need two primary ball handlers and creators. Otherwise they throw a double team at a guy like Cade and the offense might break down. And they cant just play my turn your turn and stand around with low movement.
He had a chance to bring the house down and dunk on Cunningham late in the 4th and just missed it when cade hardly went up for the contest.
Throughout his time in Cleveland he seems to disappear in games. I don’t think that’s age related, idk what it is to be honest. He rarely looked good against the Knicks and we’ve gotten them in the playoffs a few times now
Hard to want it with $500 million in the bank or whatever number he’s accumulated. That’s what it comes down to for a lot of these guys.
Remember when he tied the record for 39 second half points just a few days ago? No you don’t because you don’t watch games
That’s a big part of his problem, he’s extremely streaky offensively paired with being a borderline defensive liability. It’s hard to win with a player who plays like an offensive HoF for 1-2 games per series, a scrub for 2-3 games, and just decent for 2-3 all while playing poor lazy defense (on a max contract nonetheless).
I don’t disagree but there’s a lot of great players that become streaky in the playoffs. Wemby, Jokic, and SGA have had really bad games this playoffs too. I think Harden is a bad fit, they’re underutilizing Allen, and Mobley is shooting 3s when he could be blowing by guys
wemby and sga both play elite defense, jokic and sga both create for others constantly
mitchell does neither
The thing with Mitchell is that unless he goes bonkers on the offensive end really he isnt doing much else and his bad games tend to be bad versus other stars. Like if SGA goes 7⁄22 he is going to the line to shoot 10⁄12 and will get some steals and lock up his defensive assignments, not get lost on team defense. Donovan will go 6⁄16 which can be worse than not missing more shots and wearing down the defense. Also won’t go to the line
That Cavs team has also regressed since he got there
Well now you have two of these guys. Harden is exactly the same way.
don was like this in the playoffs in utah defensively pretty often.
Lol he ain’t changed
Ausar saps his will to live on offense, and Mitchell’s defensive powers are limited. No excuse for lack of effort though.
And he still continues to try and play hero ball. There’s so many times he’ll get into the lane and the defense knows he’s going to put it up so everybody collapses. So many wide open shooters or drop offs to the bigs that he ignores. The defensive issues are straight up lack of effort most of the time. He is lazy fighting through screens and on rotations.
I mean to be fair, Jarrett Allen had bricks for hands last night
I’ve been watching this series closely to watch Strus and the Duncyard dawg. It is so frustrating watching ya’ll. Like when the Pistons lose, I get it, because they rely soooooo heavily on Cade, but ya’ll have more aggregate talent at basically every other position at least in terms of depth and versatility. This is the first game of the series that Duren made a big impact. I just don’t understand how you all are like a Strus big game in the last one away from having lost the series. Thompson can’t play offense. Toby is Toby. Duren is down (his play). Beef Stew is borderline unplayable. I love Duncan and he’s been huge, but ya know what he’s gonna be doing. Lavert? He’s just not that guy? Jenkins and Sasser are meaningful contributors? Wtf! How are you losing?
I feel like Strus is the only one making a lot of little plays. Where is Mobley?!? He’s so talented and I have not seen that guy able to face up and beat anyone almost at all. Ughhh, your team historically wrecked us last year and every playoff series since has underperformed. We changed our entire offense because of ya’ll lol. You don’t suck.
The Pistons are doing what the Pistons did historically. They are much greater than the sum of their parts.
LOL for a second I just thought you had unusual taste in favorite players. But yeah the Heat connection makes a LOT more sense.
He’s just got a type
Don’t forget the Crystal’s shootout. On the money with that too.
Thanks for posting this, this isn’t the first gem from UD this post-season. Dude’s been crushing it.
His Kriss Dunn interview late season this year really sold me on him, bro is just a pure ball head lol u can tell he still has the same passion he had at the start now
Nash has been pretty on-point with his insights too.
God, Prime’s broadcast and team is such a gift to us all
This is genuinely how sports media should be
Truly. Better than the trash on espn and other networks
It shows that there’s a path to sports commentary that actually focuses on the games and elevates the sport instead of just yelling inflammatory takes for online engagement and shock value
Except for DWade and Candace constantly yapping, it’s been amazing.
[deleted]
? Pistons-Cavs game 6 last night was called by Harlan, Wade, and Parker, and it was a Prime broadcast.
Crazy that other post has a bunch of upvotes for being dead wrong lol
He really is low key the best thing about that unit. Besides Rooks of course. And all four of the guys are great and give different looks but without UD it feels like a Kia commercial.
Yep, great takes and chemistry from all of them, but UD pushes it over the top for exactly the reason you say. Dude doesn’t play it safe and takes us into the locker room.
He’s Charles Barkley who knows the current game better and articulates his points better. And has more rings erneh
I think him and Blake are the essentials to the team. If Rooks, Blake, and UD are on, I don’t really care about the rest of the crew. Dirk and Nash are good, but not essential and I don’t have any strong feelings about their guests.
Blake’s “LAWD WE COME BEFORE YOU” was pure gold
Yeah Blake is probably the purest media talent out of all of them. Deep knowledge and the humble/brag/corny thing is way more polished than him a couple of years ago. Him and UD are hilarious and provide the most interesting insight.
Call those bums out Udonis
This rendition of the Cavs is so embarrassing. Obviously I’m rooting for them, they are my team, but I actually hate this team. Very few of them show any heart at all, it’s miserable to watch as a fan.
I feel the exact same way. I love the cavs, always have. Cannot stand this 2023-2026 squad
It’s so weird how talented they are and yet it’s been strange disappointments in the playoffs for years now. This season was the one where I gave up hope of them actually going further. Ironically, they can still make the ECF but I don’t see them standing a chance against New York if they do.
I feel the same way, though I do think they match up better against New York.
These last few playoffs have been marked by gross inconsistency. When they’re on they look absolutely unstoppable and I can see them winning it all. But they spend most of their games playing without intensity and purpose.
Was cracking up watching this because it was freaking perfect! 🤣🤣 This crew has been fantastic all season and this was a LEGENDARY rant that was completely deserved!
“Because you will be judged.” LMAO 😂
You see the way UD talks about basketball alongside Nash, Dirk, and Blake and it really shows what a joke Inside the NBA is.
Sure its good for laughs here and there, but when your actual job is to cover the NBA, they do a pretty terrible job at it. Shitting on the current state of the league is old and makes you a hater. Doing it from the perspective of UD here actually makes me respect what you say more.
Well ITNBA wasn’t always like it is now. It‘s just been on too long, it’s like the Simpsons. it was once excellent; go back and watch TNT’s Open Court series for example.
Inside the NBA isnt even funny anymore. They use the same childish gags for years with new paint and feels forced now.
I really think they lost their spark with that whole TNT bullshit. The paycheck they were offered was too big to pass up but it’s clear their hearts aren’t in it anymore.
Yeah I think that’s probably right, people are acting like it’s been shit for years but even just a couple years ago it was still great and everyone loved it. ESPN/Disney just sucks the soul out of you
Crew is fantastic and love how their different personalities complement each other.
Nowitzki: Preach!
Didn’t know Dirk had that one liner punch in him man. 😂
Black wife
Aluminum foil lunch, imaginary KG on-court insult, Dirk is light skinned
“HE SAID IT IN GERMAN!”
so fucking funny, KG is a menace man
German efficiency.
This vs Nick Wright saying players shouldnt be allowed to bring their kids to postgame press after a loss
spice up the postgame
I’ve never seen a team with a chance to close out come in with less intent to finish them
Someone’s missed a handful of Celtics playoff games in the last few years.
Doc rivers: “Google me, Udonis!”
Doc is always catching (deserved) strays. 🤣
Game 6 Sixers in 2023. Most disgusting performance I’ve ever seen
Holy hell- I half suspected D-White might’ve been a hired mole during that Sixers series.
UD is 100% right. This isn’t even the first game we’ve played like this. It’s like they’re going through the motions. They aren’t mentally prepped. Also, our stars need to show up…especially on closeout games at home. Here we go again.
Outaide of that one 2nd half, Mitchell has been a disappointment this playoffs.
He’s only been impressive in 1 out of 26 half’s of basketball in these playoffs.
I genuinely love this crew
They have good chemistry and I really like the walkthroughs on court showing basketball strategy
I love udonis haslem, he just seems like he loves basketball the most in every segment he’s in, and anyone who spends 20 years with one team to me is a fucking legend
They also showed a graphic of Udonis Haslem BRING THE HEAT hot sauce (some minutes later)
Yea these looked like game 2s energy wise
Game 2 of preseason maybe
Blake’s “we have gathered here today …” was hilarious.
Blake is a legit comedian. He’s done actually funny standup which is pretty hard.
Valid rant tbh
Shit I’d follow him over the trench
This is confirmation for why the Heat paid Udonis for years to sit on the end of the bench long after he could contribute on the floor. The only thing that makes this better is if the rest of the crew was sprinkling in Amens and yelling “Preach” and he ended it with, “Now, Sister Taylor is going to sing ‘Glory, Glory Hallelujah’ for us.”
Preach.
Honestly he could just be talking about Harden over most of his career.
The stats on how many playoff games he’s had more turnovers than FGs is insane. Just monster stuff.
Why is he doing this, he needs to be encouraging them to play like they just did
Don’t worry bro, they still won’t 🤣
Cavs really are just a group with no edge at all. They’ve been soft in multiple playoff campaigns.
Toughest guy out there is the third string pg who’s also the smallest guy on the roster
Is this a weird Craig Porter Jr appreciation post?
The Captain 🫡
Amazon’s NBA coverage is a million times better than the shell that is Inside on ESPN.
All players now are just a bunch of Charmins.
UD is every Cleveland fan pissed at the lack of intensity. We all have eyes, we can see them not hustling and getting rebounds and throwing stupid passes.
“What inside you is gonna reveal itself in game 7?”
Actual profound basketball punditry right there.
Not called the cavaliers for nothing
Cavs were going up for one handed feeble rebounds like it was game 28 in the season. In a close out.
Best Kenny can do is text this video in the group chat.
UD been the only mf I’ve liked from the Heat. Unc dropping been dropping gems since the Amazon show
As a Cavs fan I just dont believe there is one starter on the team that has the killer instinct. They all treat winning as a second thought and it shows.
Very very talented team, but mentally just never seems to give a fuck in the post season
“I’ve never seen a team come in with a chance to close out with less intent and focus and intensity.”
This man has never seen a Doc Rivers coached team up 3-2 in a series. (Yes he has, UD literally played a playoff series against Doc’s Celtics down 3-2 and had his team demolish the Celtics by 20.)
The Prime crew is the best in the biz.now.
They have great chemistry and analysis. They are a joy to watch.
And I love the energy of the show. They are critical, but not hating. They talk about specific things that happened during the gamea, not just vibes.
The Mayor 🫡🫡
a lot of teams need to hear this tbh. not just closeout games but just playoff games in general. each game matters.
Prime crew is GOATED
love UD
Man… the way James harden started the game.. I was absolutely shocked.
And Haslem is hitting the nail on the head.
This Cavs team has the talent of a contender but are so frustrating.
You unfamiliar with playoff Harden?
I’ve heard of him but I thought he died in HOU.
This was bad. Indefensible.
Thats why Jaylen went to twitch
I would pay for UD to be on the bench just to keep guys accountable, on a championship team of course
Heat almost did that twice in the 2020’s
This is such a great panel. And everyone has gotten more relaxed as the season has worn on.
UD lookin like me in a club in 09 speaking truth.
The Cavs been soft this isn’t new. But you know they were top 3 favorites to come out the east behind Detroit and Boston….
All those guys should be upset and disrespected at how the Cavs played that game. And on behalf of fans, why should we care if you don’t? Have more integrity and passion for the game!
Haslem has that Pat Riley knowledge
MITCHELL AIN’T HIM
The Jazz knew it and the Cavs fell for it. Gobert was the more valuable piece.
I mean Gobert is in Cancun too
Love the Amazon cast. Every single person is great
He’s just the whole league’s vet now
Goddamn, ready to run through a fucking wall with Haslem
This get removed? Doesn’t seem to work
Nvm working now
The Cavs could desperately use a UD in their locker room right about now.
Why do they cut to the long shot for so long of his speech? You don’t need to see all of 5 of them, stay tight on the close up while he’s going off. Terrible production here, then the others kinda joke it off right when he finishes, leaving Udonis to half apologize for his passion. He’s great, this post game show is bad.
The Cavs were wayyyy too casual with the ball and overall in game 6
that’s his business model and he’s working it
I see why the Heat kept him around for so long. I glad he is no longer with ESPN hate and top five train. These guess are the best.
That was a good take. Udonis is good on TV. He also wasn’t overly mean which some media personalities can be.
This man has been coaching from the heat bench for 20 years already yall forget haha
this is why UD was such a good vet
As a cavs fan, this guy needs to get into coaching. Not a lie told.
Where is this broadcast? Like what streamer?
This is the Amazon Prime crew
uuii.p
I’ve heard this story before haven’t I
Damn that was a “I just lost some money on this game” type of rant.
Blake nodding his head like UD spitting bars
Hearing this rant after hearing Myles talk about the Bucks…you see why the teams in the Conference finals are the ones that made it.
They say the country takes on the behavior of a president after awhile. Makes sense as accountability in general has been thrown in the trash
Fuck this team. I can’t stand watching them anymore.
this guy should be a coach man. OG
Maybe they just don’t want to call each other out for accountability through post game conferences? I imagine they can do that when they watch film together with the coach
No one cares what you are doing next if what you are doing now does not matter, because we all know in the future that is what Donovan Mitchell does. That is a key reason why he should never be a Hall of Famer.
With all due respect to UD, the pistons had a part in the way the cvas played. I hate when ppl act like that’s not a factor. “just got out and win” like the other team ain’t trying to do the same thing.
The cavs had more turnovers and less fast break points bc the pistons were playing shut down defense, not bc the cavs WANTED TO TURN THE BALL OVER.
Come on man
