There’s no way he’s going over the top 4 guys, it’s very unlikely he goes over the next 3 guards (Wagler, Acuff, Flemings), and then Brown, Burries, Lendeborg, Ament, or even Lopez and Philon are higher on some boards than Mara.
And if there’s one team that doesn’t need a true center right now it’s the Mavs lol, so I doubt they specifically would reach on him due to position.
The Hawks and Bucks (assuming a Giannis trade is coming) should also just both be picking BPA imo, so a perceived way that Mara helps them win now shouldn’t matter if they grade someone else more highly.

You’re assuming Butler can come back and give you good minutes off a season-ending injury when he only averages like 55 games a year already, Porzingis will agree to come back as a UFA and can actually play more than a third of the team’s games, Curry doesn’t miss extended time again, and AD can suddenly find health that he’s largely missed for most of his career… and that the bench guys like Santos, Spencer, Post, and Melton all level up. And then you’ve got to have Moses Moody come back in late December/January at close to full strength because the Warriors are gonna need him for sure. Even if every one of those things happen I think the Warriors are maybe like the fourth seed? I get Dunleavy gets paid to do the optimistic thing as long as Kerr and Steph are there, but this team’s outlook is rough.

The two problems Golden State faces if they’re trying to bring in Giannis are that the salary matching math absolutely sucks for them, and the value of the picks they can ship are less valuable now than they appeared before the trade deadline because of the impending 3-2-1 changes restricting repeat top picks and flattening the odds and punishing bottom three teams. Like, those picks each COULD still be great, but there’s so much more variability right now with medium-future picks that you can’t assess them in the same way… and then the fact that the 3-2-1 changes might well be sunset before the back half of those picks convey makes it an even harder task to correctly evaluate them.

Yes we all hate Miles but he’s actually pretty solid when you look at it, and NBA players (especially Dray) apparently love him. He’s solid at his position and is an iron man. Salaries match, GS gets off the Pingus Poison Pill, doesn’t lose that much in draft value.
