The Biggest PPG Drop From regular season to Playoffs in NBA history :
For a minimum of 10 games in single playoffs :
This Duren guy must be pretty good if he’s right behind Wilt for a record, right?
The Bam Adebayo of PPG drop from Regular Season to Playoffs
This was a truly ethical drop, not comparable.
out of respect for Kobe he should’ve played better to stay at third /s
Bam, Jalen, Mozgov
wilt bam kobe
The rare time you can be in a wilt stat and it be a bad thing
But it is still a Wilt stat… fire up those supermaxes Detroit.
fly in those supermodels Detroit
And the bad stat is 35 ppg in the playoffs lmao
He needs to become Dennis Rodman if he’s going to give almost nothing on offense. Go get 10+ rebounds and play actual defense and they win this series. Obviously easier said than done but it’s a path at least
We already got a guy doing that his name Ausar lol. Can’t have 2 zeros on offense in your starting lineup
You already have that, if Duren actually locks in you guys could maybe hold the cavs to 90 to win
The problem with playing to hold the Cavs to 90 might result in holding themselves to 88.
We did it in the late 2010’s all the time.
He doesn’t even have a fucking second chance point from the Kevin O’Connor clip I saw, how, that can’t be true
Such an insane stat i almost refuse to believe it
Now imagine having to watch them vs the Magic 😭
especially since this kind of big typically gives us a ton of trouble
Wilt such a dropper only averaged 35 points /s
While playing 7 of those 12 playoff games against who many consider the greatest defender at his position of all time.
(Though, in fairness, he only averaged 37ppg against Red Kerr and Dolph Scayes the round prior)
Dropping by 15 points and still averaging 35 is just so fucking disgusting man
Whats the math on that im not following
In the 61⁄62 regular season, Wilt averaged 50 ppg. In the playoffs, he only averaged 35.
As for how it happened, that season had a number of his highest scoring games. the 100, as well as 78, 73, 67, 67, 65 and 65. Interestingly, in that season, the Warriors were 3-4 in games where Wilt scored 65 or more. In short, Wilt scoring a ton wasn’t exactly a recipe for winning basketball.
I also wouldn’t be shocked if teams really went all out guarding Wilt after the 100 point game. He scored 100 in game 76 of the 80 game season. He finished the season putting up 58 (against the same Knicks), 30, 44, and 34 before only getting over 50 in the 12 playoff games once.
My bad i was joking, liked your comment though the details are cool
yeah it’s fine. It was kinda fun going down this rabbit hole.
We don’t really see insanely high scoring games on the best teams. The best teams are well rounded and if someone is scoring into the 60s or higher it’s probably because nobody else on their team is getting much scoring done.
50-15=35.
It was fun and games until he reached level 20 and clicked COMPETITIVE (?)
Windhorst: “I have on good authority that Jalen Duren is solo q’ing with no comms. My sources have told me he has said ‘gg no heals’, ‘wtf 1v6’, and ‘can’t carry u bums’ in game chat after going 10⁄7 in various competitive matches”
GG F5
This sounds like something that would actually come out of the next KD burner scandal
Is that bad?
getting compared to wilt so i would say no
how many centers in the nba would legit be better than duren on this Detroit team right now
Almost all of them?
Part of Duren’s problem is that Detroit’s offense has been so dependent upon cleaning up misses off the glass that the obvious adjustment for opposing playoff teams is to key in on Duren in particular.
Dude is under the magnifying glass more than usual.
I wager Wemby would be a bit better
Everyone
may i point you to Quintin Post ?
quintin post would be a godsend for this detroit team. he’d be their best shooter outside of duncan robinson lol
What about DominAyton?
Wilt such a regular season merchant bum only averaging 35 in the playoffs.
Wilt you goddam bum, how could you drop a measly 35 ppg in playoff.
Wilt Chumperlame indeed
Crazy way to make potential future earnings disappear
Someone told me it was Harden though
Hardens playoff drops are pretty much inline with most stars not named jokic, lebron, kawhi, shai, brunson and BUTLER (confirmed coaster).
In my opinion, during has been completely exposed halfway through the season, had me thinking he was one of the best bigs in the league. His bag is about as deep as Ben Wallace. He better get rebounding.
It’s honestly crazy the drop off Duren has had
-15 is crazy from playing against regular milkmen to stronger and taller milkmen in the playoffs
smh that fking bum wilt
Wilt is a scrub
Wilt’s ridiculous man
Dumb stat. You need to use %
This is not a great way of looking at Duren’s playoff performance. There are a couple other factors you should account for.
He’s taking about 4 less shots per game in the playoffs vs the regular season. 11.5 attempts per game in the regular season down to 7.7 in the playoffs. That’s a 33% reduction in shot attempts and ~50% reduction in points scored.
Fewer attempts could be a coaching decision or just that the sample size is too small (12 playoff games vs 70 regular season games).
His shooting percentage in the playoffs is a huge drop off. 65% eFG% during the regular season down to 50% in the playoffs.
I’d say while Duren’s drop off in scoring is not as bad as OP’s title suggests, he is definitely not playing as well in the playoffs as he did in the regular season.
Regular season teams like the pistons shouldn’t have gotten this far. The Cavs and magic are just that bad.
Not every team gets to play against the geriatric/rehab unit in the second round
