He should be an unrestricted free agent this year so we will get a better gauge on his value.

RFA only works out for surefire max or near max guys now, because they get extended early anyway. If you’re a 20+ a year guy who’s not quite worth the max, you’re screwed because no team will tie up that much of their cap space to give you an offer and your current team will just lowball you since they know there’s no competition.

I agree yeah, feels like a lot of teams around with a squadron of 6’8” all-defense wings guarding 1-5 and one player who can handle and shoot the basketball.

I’ve watched most of the playoffs and have been lowkey impressed by players like Bones Hyland, obviously Ajay Mitchell and even Schroeder. There’s less offensive sparkplugs around so old school guards are making an impact as a point of difference.

TJ McConnell last year is exhibit A.

Ya, they can be important bench pieces, but are super replaceable and a dime a dozen unless they have some crazy elite skill (eg 3pt shooting)

For example, we got bones off the scrap heap. And he’s definitely a guy that should be in a lot of 10 man rotations, maybe higher depending on the team.

It’s true. We never had a great bench and yet the warriors almost never had to put starters back in after a big 3rd quarter during that stretch. It was a lot of watching guys like Cook and Speights jack up 3s as the other team had mostly given up.
