Exactly. Pistons choked for 8 straight minutes. They have no excuse for not securing the game in regulation or in overtime. They make one more shot in the final 3 minutes of regulation and this call is immaterial to the outcome, and that’s something the team needs to take more seriously than a no call.

But it also doesn’t change the no call, nor does it mean the no call is somehow justified.

This is the best replay I’ve seen of it. Obviously incidental based on this. If anything Thompson tripped Allen. Plus Ausar pushes Allen’s arm away, using his forward momentum to spin him around resulting in their legs getting further tangled. Thompson has no one to blame but himself. But to me it’s a great no call, play on, give both teams a chance in OT. Piston fans and players are just salty, and they should be, they threw that game away.

Can’t believe some people think the foul should have been called there especially in the playoffs. If anything watch closely at Ausar’s left arm. He initiated the first contact by blocking Allen’s arm with his left arm. That’s illegal contact. I’m glad the referees swallowed their whistle on that one and let the guys duke it out.

If we are going to play this game - in the OT when the Cavs challenged the no foul call on Harden’s three, Tobias clearly slaps Harden’s hand/arm right after the shot. The league added a new rule recently where defenders are not allowed to smack the shooters hand right after the shot. This was created because in the playoffs players were smacking Curry’s arm after the shot which absolutely affects shooting. Why was this not called for Harden?

Did you watch the clip you posted? Yes, Thompson got the step first. Then Allen’s leg, and body, made contact with the left side of Thompson’s leg, causing him to fall.

Nobody was asking for a foul to be called on his foot. And even if they were, Thompson stepped first. If two players are stepping for the same spot and one lands first, it’s their spot. It’d be asinine to call it on foot to foot contact (though, if I recall, Harden was awarded a foul for not much more than that against Harris, and Thompson was not awarded a foul earlier when the defender made knee to knee contact, but I digress), but it’s absolutely the correct call to make when Allen continues into his body and causes him to fall

You let a little go, especially when nobody is in position or has control. You don’t let it go when Thompson has established himself in front and gains possession and is tripped by Allen

Thompsons foot comes down first directly where Allen is stepping. Allen manages to keep his balance but is redirected away from the ball while Thompson falls. If Allen falls instead is it tripping on both? Is Allen penalized for not falling over too?
