JB would usually wait until 5-6 games into a series before thinking of any changes to his initial rotation when he was our coach. wouldn’t surprise me if reed gets big minutes next game regardless of how well it goes for him.
He’s an energy guy, they don’t want him playing reserved basketball. They want him to go point A to point B like a bulldozer for 5-6 minute stretches and morally destroy the Cavs.
It’s just that they haven’t been getting anything from Duren and before today, not much from Stewart either.

I actually don’t mind the strategy from Bickerstaff with him to save him until the end of the game. He’s an energy guy so obviously he’s not going to stick to those numbers over a full game if you play him that. Throwing him out there well rested against a bunch of people totally winded has some merit.
He should be splitting time with Stewart though, not Duren.

This may have been one of the worst coached games ever in terms of roster / rotation management.
Beef Stew had the best +/- on the team (+12) and didn’t see the court after the 5:00 mark of the third quarter.
Pistons had a 2 point lead when Duren (-16) subbed in for him. Fast forward 5 minutes to the end of the quarter - Cavs are up 4.
Paul Reed (Even +/-) sees the court for the first time to start the 4th. He plays really well - FOR THE ENTIRE 17 MINUTES OF THE 4TH QUARTER AND OT.
Why do you not get Reed in the game earlier???? And how does Stewart not get back on the court for any of the final 22 minutes????

This, people need to not act like he would turn around this series if he started, he wasn’t great the longer he was out.
I mean to be fair, he played the entire 4th and all of OT. Not many bigs play 17 minutes straight, let alone a backup. I think most Pistons fans have been asking for Reed to get around 20 minutes, nobody is saying give them all at once lol.
The problem is people act like he’s a miracle player.

In the playoffs your gonna be playing big minutes, Paul Reed has his limitations he is a young player who will learn but his issues (pretty foul prone, not great around the rim, etc) and it showed up here and why the Pistons have played him more as an energy player
I think that’s a huge exaggeration. It’s a frustration with Duren and us appreciating Reed’s actual effort compared to Duren. Reed’s scored 36 points in 42 minutes. JD has scored 47 points in 149 minutes. Reed’s also out rebounded Duren in the 3 games he’s played this series. So it’s not us thinking he’s a miracle player, it’s simply something that clearly isn’t working vs something that is working.
