“Dead air” is a cardinal sin in broadcasting, and sometimes productions treat silence- even fully intentional silence- as dead air.

I used to work with someone who named their first child “ESPN” (pronounced “es-pin”) and I just assumed from then on that company had a stranglehold on people no matter what. Crazy

Is this really an ESPN issue? Because the same thing happened yesterday on NBC. ESPN also covers the Stanley cup playoffs and they have never cut into commercials during team intros and national anthems. Starting to think this is more indicative of Silver’s league itself than anything
