Yup if Boozer had the exact same skillset, measurements and athleticism but simply just looked more like an athlete he’d be ranked number 1 overall easy. This guy is good at everything! Good athlete, great size, very good shooter, amazing feel/passing, amazing interior scoring, good defensive instincts, amazing production even if you don’t factor in him being ridiculously young. He’s the prospect that looks amazing and ends up being a star but isn’t drafted til the mid lottery because he’s 22, except he isn’t 22, HES 18!!!!

Edit: forgot to even mention that he’s an elite rebounder. Prob gonna average 10+ boards as a 4.

Im in the camp that he needs to be paired with the right center but if he can be next to a Chet Holgrem type or someone who can switch onto PFs then a team can hide his weakness. He has the potential to be an absolute monster in the NBA.

I agree with this, but it’s weird that you’re not listing any of the negatives. You’re not worried about what he’s going to be defensively? I don’t think he has the lateral quickness to cover the perimter and I don’t see him being someone who can deter players at the rim.

Offensively I have almost no concerns because he can play inside or out, but defensively he seems like he’s going to need to play next to an elite rim protector. Big guys who can’t defend at the rim require a special team around them and that isn’t always easy to do.

Problem with a lot of talented scoring guards is their physical tools make them obvious targets on the other end of the floor but that is not the case for him at all. He’s has the size to hold up against wings (not saying he definitely will - just that its not for lack of length & strength).

I feel the creatine thing is too weird to not be true. Would just be an enormously strange thing to make up. But also idk why we don’t have similar questions for Dybantsa. He chose to go to BYU where he was basically allowed to do whatever he wanted on both ends of the floor instead of a program where he would’ve had a chance to compete at a higher level. Based on the way he played there I got massive “just here to audition for the NBA vibes”. Never tried hard off ball on either end, would only lock in when he had the ball in his hand or guarding another guy on ball

He had full body cramps that he had to be hospitalized for, it wasn’t a matter of him just not wanting to hoop

The reason for the cramps still isn’t publicly known but he spoke about how he would feel it coming on again and that’s why he sat, he said he legit thought he was dying the time he was taken to the ER. Full body cramps for anyone but especially an athlete is super serious and scary so I don’t blame him for being cautious

He’s incredibly skilled around the rim, has tremendous footwork, and great touch around the rim. He’s a good midrange shooter and shot near 40% from three. There’s nothing he can’t do on offense and combine that with his passing and playmaking skill and it just unlocks him even more. Duke would use him as the ball handler in PnR and he would get good looks driving the the basket, pushing in transition off his own rebounds, hitting cutters and cross court passes to the corner off the dribble, etc

Defensively he’s not a true rim protecting big but that’s why you pair him with one in the league. He’s more than smart enough to play good help defense and knows rotations and where to position himself and being 255 pounds means you’re not just going to put him in the stanchion when trying to score on him

He’s not without flaws, no prospect is but he’s done literally every possible thing a prospect could do and achieve at this point and has good measurables and people still doubt he will be successful

Boozers only problem is explosiveness/twitchy movements. Like if you stop his momentum at any point on his moves to the basket he is pretty ground bound and struggles a bit.

It’s an easy and lazy comparison to make, but to me he is a more focused/better feel, less athletic version of Paolo. Can the former lead to better or the same results even if he’s less athletic? Possibly.

I would argue lane agility, shuttle, and hand width are as irrelevant as vertical, if not more.

But I thought the whole thing with AJ and Peterson was that they were the total package including the athleticism. With their bodies and stuff being less agile than Cam is legit shocking

not op but just chiming in here- i feel like people underrate daryn peterson because of his weird year at kansas but the dude is an elite, polished 3 level scorer. reminds me of a more athletic devin booker. he’s gonna be so nice in the nba, i’d take him 1 overall if it was up to me

Utah are trying to zag a bit. They’re going all in on size, means you will always be good at protecting the rim when your shooting guard can play help. Always having help means you can play tighter on the perimeter because it doesn’t matter if you get blown by. It’s an interesting strategy I kind of get it. Don’t be surprised if they take Boozer.
