I’d say those are the expectations when you’re being hyped up as the future GOAT before you step foot on an NBA court. There hasn’t been another prospect talked about like Wemby ever since Lebron.

In my opinion, the only prospects ever with clearly more hype than Wemby were Kareem and Lebron. When that’s some of your company as a prospect, the expectations are sky high.

tbh I wish the Spurs kept him involved offensively more the rest of the game. Or at least Mitch has to figure out a way to have the offense flow smoother if they’re gonna keep Wemby mostly out of it. You can see after Wemby sits how much the game slowed down and the Spurs almost got in trouble midway before picking it up again at the end.

Knicks killed them on the boards. Spurs’ soft spot is they don’t have anyone to match up with physical guys in the 6’9”-6’10” range. Other than Ant going thermonuclear, the Twolves best chance to win the series is Julius Randle playing a lot better.

Knicks have a good matchup against Spurs because their offense can be tuned to be as close to Wemby proof as you can be. Defensively they have wings to tackle the all the non-Wemby players as well. So in the end Brunson has to outscore Wemby while being guarded by Castle, which he has the ability to. I don’t know if they can in 4 games in a Bo7, but hopefully we get to find out.

The Knicks are a very very good match-up against the Knicks. They’re a very good sharpshooting team which the Spurs struggle against since Wemby always guards the paint so its 4v5 in the perimeter. And they have one of the best rebounders in the game that can box out Wemby.

Knicks are a brutal matchup, they are huge and the entire roster sans Robinson can shoot 3s. Wemby obliterates attempts in the paint but the Knicks don’t care about that. Every time we play them they just rain 3s.

Spurs aren’t that big outside of Wemby himself and struggle with rebounding, and if you take away their best defensive aspect they struggle.

They kill us on the boards and have enough shooting to keep Wemby from living near the rim. Brunson and Bridges are also certified Spurs killers.

Isn’t basically every game of his playoffs his biggest game of his career? Other than maybe game 2 of the first round? I struggle seeing anything yet as a “legacy game”

First playoff game. First away playoff games and coming off a surprise loss. First close out. First semifinal and lost the opener. Big win and then doing it on the road again. 2-2 big game. Now the 3-2 to close out or go to his first game 7. Win and its first conference finals against defending champs, and so on.

The parallels are uncanny, but how many people remember Cavs-Pistons Game ⁵⁄₆ in 2003? LeBron’s first playoffs in his third season, semifinal round tied 2-2, seemed big at the time but neither team made the finals (could very well happen here) and it ended up being more of a blip quickly overshadowed by bigger games/moments (namely a game 5 a year later against the same opponent).

If this game is a legacy mark before it even tips off, it either means the spurs go on the win the title or wemby’s career goes horribly off track.
