honestly rui efficiency numbers tell the real story here. 56/55/86 on nearly 40 MPG is elite shot creation and spacing. the stats dont lie, he was locked in this series even if the sweep overshadows it

Rui grew on me. He’s still one dimensional as fuck, but that one dimension has become conistent and clutch (4 point play)

Maybe he’ll get better at Rebounding and rotational defense and stocks and assists if they keep him.

The problem is where to play him tho. Since that requires roster construction.

One of the issues I want the Lakers to address is to have the offense feature more balance. This would require the lakers to get/fix roster to match what OKC can do.

I have to give JJ credit for simplifying the offense for Rui, but that’s a handicap in itself. It would be nice if the Lakers had one big that can pass. Sadly, JJ has an idea for it (Ie, AD as the Hub, but AD can’t pass either)

Cause it’s quite lethal seeing the OKC have Hartenstein and Chet be able to effectively run plays off them. Like can you really trust Rui or Ayton to do a DHO with a wing?

OR pass out of the post double team like big to big style.

From a thunder fan perspective Rui is a championship caliber piece, so is smart bron and Luka. I think you have to move on from reaves unless he could be a 6th man for you. However you still need like 3 other solid players on top of that, everyone else on your roster is a waste of salary cap. Also you all need a real inside presence, Bam or Giannis would do you wonders

My biggest takeaways from 1st and 2nd round are how much I would like Dillon Brooks if he was on my team and that Rui is underrated.

You shoot ²⁄₅ on threes and that’s already a good game at 40% but Rui refuses to even do that, dude shot 50+% on threes for SIXTEEN straight games and never shot below 50% in any playoff game in this postseason. If he wants 30 million then give him that, you don’t often see consistent sharpshooters with that kind of physique. Just let it fly more often and average at least 6 rebounds per game and Rui would already be a perfect player.
