i think the biggest name here that you’re missing is he’s an immediate upgrade from Isiah Joe, which if jdub comes back WCF like he’s supposed to will be the minutes that McCain sucks up

I know a lot of my fellow thunder fans absolutely love Joe, and I respect him and gotta give him credit for being a solid regular season player, but he’s way too much of a 1-trick pony that if his shot isn’t falling, he’s not providing anything else. It played him out of the rotation in the last playoffs where they really coulda used his 3pt shooting.

i was so pumped when they traded for him. I live in Philly and the cope of “well we have Maxey and VJ” was very funny to me because who couldn’t use a dude like McCain… especially come playoff time when having confident 3pt shooters is a must have

Yeah, after the double, OKC makes 2 passes and it’s generally an open shooter taking the 3, they live and die by that and if SGA attacks the rim, Chet usually gets a good chance at an offensive rebound.

Even from a basketball standpoint, I agree that it was crazy how much stock people were putting into his struggles this season. He was coming back from a tough injury + not getting consistent playing time bc he got pushed out of the guard rotation. It’s gonna be really hard for anyone to establish a rhythm in those circumstances.

The real McCain was obviously the guy who was playing at ROY level.
