We struggled against the spurs because Ajay was hurt and Shai was the only ball mover who could create. We signed Mccain because of it.

The matchup definitely isn’t great against the Spurs but the way the teams match up aside, Thunder are definitely a significantly more talented team even without JDub.

If Wemby plays every game like he did in Game 3 against the Wolves then the Spurs wouldn’t lose to anyone. But he’s still a bit inconsistent on the offensive end and I don’t think the Spurs 2nd/3rd best guys (Castle and Harper) will be ready for the intensity and playoff experience of the Thunder.

I think the Wolves still have a slim chance to pull it out if they win Game 4, but if they don’t, I’d probably bet on Thunder in 6 or 7 over the Spurs

I would like to set the record straight on this. The 2011 CBA rules screwed OKC because of the Rose Rule. KD’s contract retroactively jumped from 25% to 30% of the cap, destroying OKC’s flexibility right as they were trying to build around the core.

The league even eventually admitted it was a mess and literally paid the Thunder several million in cash as a reimbursement for the mistake, but the damage to their roster construction was already done.
