You’re right it was a bad game. But I feel like people are just taking the context out of their evaluation in these rough games Cade has had.

This team’s #2 option is Tobias Harris. They have zero guys outside of Cade who can reliably create their own offense. This run reminds me of the Rockets in the 2015 playoffs the year Harden broke the TO record.

It’s just really hard to sustain ball security in a 7 game series when you have next to zero players who can help shoulder the load. Cade can and should be better with the TO’s but a lot of this is just roster deficiencies, super high usage, which makes him being completely gassed imo

Tobias’ worst year of efficiency is better than Cade’s best.

He is a chucker, he needs to stop shooting the ball so much when his TS% is 5 points worse than Westbrook career. Every other person on the team shoots better, but they actually need shots. Tough to get a rhythm when the PG misses 17 of 27 shots and has 8 turnovers.

He’s been top 3 in turnovers/36 his entire career, this isn’t a supporting cast thing.

I don’t care what happened in the first two games, there are zero players on this team who can consistently create their own offense outside of Cade. That impacts your usage, that impacts your ball security, and your efficiency.

Comparing Harris’ efficiency stats to Cade is the most useless comparison ever lol. He hasn’t been a #1 option since he was in LAC. And way more of his shots are catch and shoot. Of course he’s more efficient Harris relies on others to create good opportunities for him.

I’m not absolving Cade of the blame but he has not had a reliable second option who can help run the offense and create for themselves. Genuinely, how can be a fan of this team and not see that?

He has had the EXACT same problem since high School when Nembhart led the team in assists and not him, and in College where he won nothing or here where every year in the league he’s been top 3 in TO/36 and bottom 5 in 20ppg scorers in TS%.

Since you totally watch all the Pistons games and want to call my “Fanhood” into question, why does every player on the team shoot 2-5% better when litterally any other PG is out there (Schroeder last year, Jenkins this year)? He quite litterally makes everyone shoot worse when he’s on the floor. We also had a higher winning %, net rtg, ortg and win margin in the 21 games he missed.

How can YOU not see that he’s a black hole on offense that turns it over so much, nobody can get into any offense?

from my understanding, ausar and ron holland shooting more in the future is the plan, and the team is concerned more with process than efficiency to start (obviously efficiency is the end goal).

the pistons front office is focused on the long-term growth of the players rather than winning now. this season was primarily to see how the core played together and who on the team was going to contribute in the playoffs. the goal was not to win big (though the winning has definitely been a huge plus), and i don’t think we’ll be in position to do so for a couple years at least, i can definitely agree with you that the team has big problems

all that being said, i’m very happy with the place the team is in now and i think the office has the right ideas in mind to ensure long-term success.

Stats look bad, but they don’t tell the full story. Cade is the entire offensive system for the Pistons, and his burden is like no other player in the playoffs. A lot of these turnovers looked like fatigue affecting his decision making.

He also scored 5 straight in the clutch to almost will Detroit to a sixth straight playoff win. His turnovers are probably worth it. They didn’t lose this game because of him.
