Johnson and Braun are both better than Fox on defense. Denver’s problem is that Murray is terrible on defense and without Gordon and Watson, they have no interior defense.
Also every Spurs player is going to look better on defense because they can get out and know if they get beat they have Wemby to swallow up anything in the painted. They still have some amazing defensive players besides Wemby, but having him inside helps a ton.
Johnson and Braun are wings not guards. No denver guard is better than Fox defensively. Don’t look at blocks or steals. Just watch him stay in front of opponents. He actually guarded edwards really well last game late in game 3 and he missed terribly.
They have both started at shooting guard. Braun almost exclusively plays the 2.

It’s cuz he has insane reach/wingspan and is mobile, so the height feels and is way more impactful than it’d be if he were a traditional 7’4” player. Vic has a standing reach of 9’8”, which is just something no one has ever had anything close to with that mobility.
It is game breaking in a lot of unpredictable ways.
I know it’s not officially measured, but Wemby’s standing reach has to be more than that. Mark Williams’ is 9’9, and he’s an enormous presence, but Wemby is clearly significantly longer.
But your point is accurate. Guys with his reach shouldn’t be able to move like he does. the combo of quickness and length means he’s never actually out of position because he can recover and make up ground so easily. That makes him basically impossible to beat consistently.
