Like real true international attention a la Bron, Kobe, etc. It’s by all measures profoundly hard to stay grounded when you get that much attention and money and accolades at such a young age. Couple that with he’s instantly recognizable being 10 feet tall, you can’t go anywhere incognito. It’s a really tough ask to stay humble and true for even the most mature well adapted people. Hopefully he has good people in his camp.
Somewhat unpopular opinion but I feel like he will never reach the true stardom as LeBron and Kobe. They are like 2 of the top 3 most famous basketball players ever. Those are people who have never watched a basketball game know. I just don’t think a foreign star in the US will ever reach those heights.
His natural intellectualism is so rare for an elite athlete. The only other basketball player I can think of who carried himself like that was Kareem, and he was famously prickly with the press (not that he didn’t often have good reasons for it).
It’s like if we had footage of wilt. I grew up watching Jordan and LeBron. What wemby does is so different. He doesn’t even need to put up 20 straight years of being healthy. Give us 7+ and it’ll be talked about 50 years from now

I know everyone here hates Shai but I really think it’s going to be a wonderful next 5 or so years seeing those two go at it at the peak of their powers. Both are very easily already on top 10 all time paths. Right when the league was nervous that nobody would take the mantle for the new generation after the trio of Jokic, Giannis, and Embiid took over at the start of the decade.
