Anthony Edwards: “It’s competition at the highest level. We want to win. Finchy want to win. And Tony Brothers is Tony Brothers. We all love him, so it’s all good there.”
There’s times where Ant sounds like the most reasonable dude on the team which can be hard to believe.
In post-game interviews he’s authentic but always protecting the team and defusing narratives, it’s a good leadership quality
Honestly, he really impresses me on the microphone. He’s super articulate and I agree 100% he’s great at controlling narratives before they become detrimental to the team.
And Gobert is the opposite. That in-game interview with him tonight was rough. In-game interviews are notoriously bad but Gobert took it to a new low.
What did he say?
Missed it, if you have time could you expand?
He was like “you aren’t tricking me into a fine”
Hes consistently been solid for years in interviews. He had a bad rep coming into the league because people didnt get his humour, but hes very level headed when talking to press.
Yeah - the gay jokes on IG stuff unfortunately affected his image (justifiably) — he’s immature out of basketball but he is a great team leader who takes responsibility.
What was his humor?
Basically joking around and acting like getting into the nba isn’t a big deal and that he doesn’t care much about basketball. People hated on him a lot and his attitude, because draft prospects tend to play it safe so they didnt expect him to talk like that, and it comes off bad in written form over video.
He never looks rattled and is always chill in interviews, love getting ant and Wemby stuff at the same time
Anything basketball related and he’s great.
It’s just the outside basketball stuff they can be a bit.. 😬
Outside of the whole baby mama stuff he’s genuinely a professional
People quickly forget the homophobic comments. He apologized for it after he got fined and he hasn’t gotten in trouble for it since. I hope he’s grown from the incident.
he’s a very good leader
“We all love him”🤯
Generational PR training
He’s picking his battles
press x for doubt
I could swear I saw a report that people actually do love the guy, they actually deal with them so I’m not going to question it.
Edit: here’s one article
https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/36275082/how-nba-stars-such-draymond-green-dillon-brooks-take-player-referee-relationships-new-levels
Imagine the comments if anyone from a certain team said this. It would be carnage and people would be claiming it as proof
Never seen a ref initiate and close the distance in an argument until tonight
you should look up shaun livingston vs courtney kirkland
Always a tell when someone says a name twice. “That’s just _____ being _____.” Okay, understood.
It’s the same as God bless his heart.
That’d just Tony being brothers.
I also have never seen the players and ref have a meeting in the mid court after the game until last night. Ref be going crazy this year
One of the games I can’t really be frustrated with the loss. Spurs got hot from 3 in the second half and Wemby played like the best player in NBA history. A lot of guys on the Wolves had an amazing game.
We had 1 point like halfway through the first quarter.
The start was ugly but that’s what you get when you start Conley and Gobert in 2026 against a team that prepared for them
We’re not allowed to complain about it, but the injuries are really huge.
Donte would’ve torched them in this series. Ant legit playing how he’ll play when he’s 40 and has no athleticism anymore. Just don’t have enough juice in the backcourt.
I’ve seen Donte become DiBrickcenzo in playoffs before so I’m not 100% sure. Wolves 5-out units would have created more offense I think, especially with Naz shooting super well in the playoffs.
I think Wolves need to play TSJ more. He has been a very positive player on both ends, even if his shot does not fall, and he is physically ready to play 35-38 minutes. He also looks very good at bringing the ball down the court, half court pressure does not really bother him like it did for DDV.
Pretty much every close nba game still has a streak where a team goes on a 10-1 run, it just sticks out when its to start a game. Wolves finished the first quarter tied, played well in the second, fell behind cause spurs went hot at 3 in the third then got close to catching up but couldn’t. Not the ugliest loss
[deleted]
He scored ultra efficient 39 points, got 15 rebounds, and played a great defense. It’s not a glaze
Played like the best player and is the best player are totally different! Not sure why you are yelling!
It’s not semantics, it’s a completely different statement.
“You ran like your life depended on it.” “Fuck you asshole my life doesn’t depend on running!”
Whatever I was hot after the loss
He said he played like the best player in NBA history during the second half. He’s not really wrong. That spacing and defense is an unheard of combination. When a superstar is hot, all you can do is watch.
Probably the best 2-way game I have seen in my life, especially at this level. Kawhi has had elite playoff games but he can’t impact defense like Wemby who makes Wolves take only middies and 3s
Someone missed the hyperbole lesson in elementary school it seems
played like
???
He had 16 in the 4th, what are you talking about?
Can you read? The fuck does that have to do with anything
Oh wait your flair you’re just mad the 1 point in 6 mins wolves lost lol
Hahaha look at you big guy talking about my team losing… at least they are still playing. Trash ass team in a garbage ass state/city
Yea I knew it lol enjoy the gentleman’s sweep. Gonna end up in the same place as Miami, at home while the real contenders are still going
Go away poor
You replied to someone specifically talking about his performance this game and especially the 2nd half, how the fuck is it NOT relevant????
Nice reading comprehension. He said the Spurs as a team got hot from 3 in the second half. Not Wemby you poor
Kind of a general comment not directed at Ant:
I don’t like how players and coaches have weaponized the fans’ hatred of refs in order to scapegoat their own failings in games.
That’s political party level shit and I don’t like that it’s becoming commonplace in the league.
They really have to a degree not seen before. Every postgame thread has the same comments about “both teams can agree the refs were terrible” as a uniting sentiment. Plus coaches have been egging it on. Finch was straight screaming at Brothers multiple times in the game and probably should have been tossed. Should have saved his ire for that iso offense he was orchestrating in the 4th.
Like two things are true about Finch at once: he’s a great coach and he’s an absolute jackass who routinely hides behind officiating when his team loses
He does that when his team wins too
Consistency is key after all
Agree. He’s my favorite coach to listen to because he’s aggressively anti-refs/league in general, particularly when it’s convenient after a big game lol
He doesn’t hide behind officiating - people just don’t listen to the whole interview, just the 5-10 second clip posted to r/nba. He calls out players and says we got punked when he lose badly. He also brings up things about the refs to stand up for our guys (they complain less when they know their coach will say something after) and do coach gamemanship. He’s trying to make a point to influence reffing in the series, it’s part of a coach’s job
A guy made a highly upvoted post on r/nba last night basically encouraging doxxing the head reffing of the league. Calling him an OKC fan when he’s on record being a Laker fan too. It’s wild it was allowed to stay up.
Shit is out of control.
Unless I missed something, digging up old tweets isn’t doxxing.
it’s the victim mentality lol
Like Finch bitching after every Thunder game? Or like the team with the highest FT differential crowding the referees after losing?
What victim mentality?
Digging up a specific old tweet, leaving out the fact he’s an admitted laker fan on purpose, linking his pages, linking to his job page.
Wtf do you think the objective was?
That’s not doxxing dude.
That’s all publically available information.
Maybe you could call it cherry-picking or biased framing or whatever, but that’s not doxxing.
I didn’t say it was doxxing I said it was encouraging doxxing. Pay attention slow mo.
God, I feel so lucky to have this guy on my team. Hell of a game tonight.
Ant doing what he’s doing on two bad legs is wild. The dude is a problem.
As expected, that one interaction is going to be the only talk of the night in the post talks.
ANT isn’t about to give the NBA $50,000 lol
I didn’t see Ant’s blink on the first watch so I thought the clip froze at the beginning
Ant Man is so loveable and endearing its tough to hate this man.
For 2026 standards, refs were solid today. You can expect a missed call here and there, it has happened since basketball was invented it’s just today with so many replays and physical play they are more obvious… but today they were very good imo. It helps when you have two team playing ethically and not trying to flop every possession
Every single nba game ends up with discussions about the refs. Something has to change
Respect the Ant, but the wolf benifits from the refs this game.
It’s not too late to delete this bro.
I just did. Read the headline alone which missed the most important context. Thanks
Do y’all want to win? Can we quit starting every game like it’s a random regular season game y’all don’t wanna be at.
