Eh. Depends on if the Knicks make the finals and keep doing pretty well in the playoffs but if Brunson is THE guy for a Knicks team that makes multiple ECF + Finals runs for 5-7 years that’s probably more significant to me than the 5th best player on those championship teams.

I think King’s second season when he finished 2nd in MVP and hard carried the team to a 5 seed, beat Detroit in the playoffs, and got to game 7 against Boston is one of the single best seasons by a player in Knicks history. But he was only really on the team for 3 years, Brunson has definitely surpassed him.
Hard to judge DeBusschere and Monroe since I never saw them play. They’ve both got a lot of accolades, especially DeBusschere, but they ultimately feel like super role players and not really Mt Rushmore type players like Reed, Frazier, Ewing, and Brunson either is or is going to be. They’re definitely top 10 Knicks though.

I loved Patrick Ewing. Watching the Knicks between 2000 and 2020, the idea that they made the playoffs FOURTEEN CONSECUTIVE SEASONS feels impossible. Its incredibly difficult to quantify what he meant to this fanbase
But a ring and a Finals MVP on Brunson? He’d move past Ewing. Something that to 10 year old me felt legitimately impossible.

Hawks could guard Brunson but couldn’t deal with KAT while 76ers can make KAT ineffective by attacking him via making him commit dumb fouls and PG13 is lowkey one of the best defenders on KAT but they have no one who can stop Brunson.
