The real problem is that this award is voted on yearly, but what ACTUALLY makes a good executive is mostly long-term moves. You can’t really know whether most moves were good ones until a couple years later, voters are mostly guessing.

Lawrence Frank won executive of the year for trading SGA+picks to OKC, which is now considered by most to be an all-time fleecing.

Nuggets also received 1 2nd place and 1 3rd place vote. Interestingly, I can’t link it here, but you can see it on NBA website; there were only 28 first place votes, did 2 execs forget to vote, is someone’s vote already taken?

Tbh we all thought Nuggets had an excellent offseason. Turning MPJ, Saric and Westbrook into Cam Johnson, Val, THJ, Bruce Brown is a very solid offseason.

They had an okay regular season despite a lot of injuries, many were still considering them as contenders going into playoffs.

The Kroenkes wouldn’t spend money when they were minority shareholders because they didnt want to increase the price of the team, therefore increasing the amount of money theyd have to pay when they became majority owners.

But since they became majority owners, they’ve been really good about spending money and letting the football guys do their thing. They also stood by the manager through a fairly dry first few years.

And now Arsenal are (1) on the cusp of winning the Premier League for the first time since 2004 and (2) in the final of the Champions League, which they’ve never won and only played in once before.

As an arsenal fan, I think the opinions on kroenke really have very little to do with his actual ownership decisions. We like arteta right now, but if we don’t win either the premier league or the champions league this season there is going to be a very vocal majority of fans that want serious change at the club this summer. Kroenke was also instrumental in the attempt to form the Super League which was a huge failure, a PR nightmare. And I’m not really sure why no one talks about it anymore.

This isn’t all that different than how Kroenke is perceived in regards to the Nuggets. When they won a championship and Jokic was winning MVPs every other season, almost no one had a bad thing to say about Kroenke. Then they get knocked out in the first round and you see a huge shift in the public opinion
