He actually had a pretty good defensive game. He just wasn’t effective at all on the offensive end.

As a Nets fan I know all about that but at least Brook Lopez would box out 2-3 players so his PF/SF could feast on rebounds while he did all the dirty work.

He can’t even post up our starting guards.  In consecutive possessions early on he tried to back Cade down and made no progress and had to pass out of it then he tried to back Duncan down and got the ball stolen.  That’s insane for a max contract 7 footer.

Really high hips even for his height. Same problem as Zingus. They can’t get any leverage on smaller players and aren’t strong enough to move them without it. Gobert has high hips too but he’s strong enough to fight through anyway

Cade was the no brainer number one pick at the time so I don’t really blame him for that.

As a Cavs fan there is no doubt the debate is settled and Scotty came out on top. 

I think a big part of it is development. Mobley’s got stunted by the Mitchell acquisition.

People have jerked back and forth on this debate for 5 years. Go back a year and people - including a lot of Raptors fans - were out on Scottie. The year before that he was a superstar in the making, and the year before that he was in a slump.

Call me crazy but this isn’t a closed book. I prefer Scottie way more than Mobley but who fucking knows what this discussion will look like this time next year.

You’re correct. Everyone’s going to clown in him for the 1 rebound, and while he should be better the Pistons were gang targeting him every time the ball went up.

He was usually the only big on the floor for the Cavs so Detroit could focus on stopping his rebounding. The Cavs guards all had slightly above average rebounding totals, so I think he still did a good job occupying Detroit’s rebounders.
