He was good tonight, made timely threes in the fourth, but that’s not the norm for him.
They provide a very valuable release valve on defense to enable him to stay on an easier man. He’s already getting doubled and tripled. If he has to pick up Bron or Rui on switches with little flexibility he’s going to be exhausted by half time.
Tbh the Caruso & Wallace lineups should have the same problem but they look way better cause they’re better passers and cutters, can put the ball on the floor a little and punish a strong closeout too. Defensively feel like they force more turnovers too, the Dort minutes just stink
I agree with everything you said but to be fair to Dort, defensively this series he’s been tasked with the Bron matchup because of JDub’s injury, usually he’d be on Luka or Reaves. He’s definitely less versatile than Wallace and Caruso but he usually does a great job 1on1 against guards and keeping their volume down. I think Wallace on Reaves was what allowed Reaves to have a better showing, not to discredit Reaves because he was great offensively, but if Dub was out there I think Dort would be the primary Reaves matchup with Wallace being the backup.

He showed up BIG TIME when Embiid and Podcast P went down. He got crazy high usage because of this then gets injured while taking on more than he should have had to. He’s slow to recover after being out for ages and suddenly the narrative says he regressed.
