He had good reason to with the Raptors since they had zero depth. He made good use of deep rotations in 2019 and 2020, the last few years he didn’t really have an option but to run them into the ground.

This isn’t the OKC team from last season. Non-Shai offense is MUCH improved.
Lakers entire defensive philosophy was get the ball out of SGA’s hands no matter what yet they for whatever reason never doubled Mitchell who became the engine when SGA wasn’t there. If they continue doing that this is an easy sweep which it probably is regardless. They need to understand Mitchell’s salary and his impact are not congruent.
Yeah the Lakers game plan would have been very effective a year ago.
Still, it’s probably the best strategy, they’ve kept the games much closer than in the regular season. Shai’s so efficient normally and so low turnover that playing 4v3 vs the thunder role players may still be the lakers best chance of success.

The way hes shooting off the dribble is not an easy skill. He’s going to be a really good player.
If the sixers were going to trade him why to OKC? So many other teams would’ve happily paid the price.
I really don’t think Morey messed up trading him. Based on the team construction, we already have 3 guards (1 UFA this offseason, but still), and the pick can be used in trades to offload bad contracts in a way McCain’s salary cannot.
That being said, I do think it’s noteworthy that OKC loves taking fliers on Sixers players. They’ve clearly identified that the Sixers draft well and their development can improve those players.
I also don’t think it’s worth re-litigating after every game.
