For someone with zero coaching experience prior to, he is doing great. Nothing legendary yet, but definitely decent enough.

You will cop hate for this but I agree. This sub especially fails to give him any credit, but this team is structured so poorly I think he’s doing an amazing job getting them where they are.

Yeah the Lakers were projected to win 43 games last year and won 50. Then 46 this year and won 53. He should get some COTY votes this year, but probably won’t.

I think his game plan adjustments this season along with just general demeanor has proven he can do this well long term of he decides to for a career.

He’s been great this playoffs. What he is getting with what he has is super impressive.

He’s put together a beautiful game plan against OKC he just doesn’t have the personal to fully execute it. The spurs or the wolves can execute it in the next round.

He’s definitely a good coach especially coming in with zero experience and having to manage all the changes the lakers have gone through the last two years with trades and star players being in n out. Still going to need to win to be considered a great coach but he’ll definitely have a job for a long time.

My issues with JJ is I wish that he would play his stars less minutes, he also can be a bit stubborn with sticking to his game-plan. Other than that tho, love him and hope he’s the head coach for the next decade

If he can get Luke Kennard to play with confidence, he’s doing something right.

Him and JB are my top 2 coaches this season. Mazzula was good don’t get me wrong but the hype around him is a bit too ridiculous

He kind of shat the bed in last year’s playoffs, but it was his first year/first playoffs as HC, so pretty understandable.

This year though, with this shit roster they should have had the 3 seed, if it weren’t for the late injuries to AR and Luka. Remember, they were on like a 10-1 game heater just before they both went down.

Hated him at Duke, too. Seems like a good dude, and he’s doing a great job.

There’s a lot of good young coaches on some good teams in the league right now. It kinda feels like there has been a passing of the guard right the last two three years. Kinda dope to see

He has definitely been coach of the year material, at least in the second half of the season.

After LeBron struggled bad for the majority of the season, he really got going and the team finished the regular season great and upset the heavily favored Rockets in the first round.

The thing he was lauded for in the regular season his first year, when I listened to it, is basically what coaches do for the playoffs, so he gae away a lot of the playoff strategies for different teams in the regular season. Yes, it helped the Lakers do really well in the regular season, particularly against the Wolves who are not so engaged in the regular season, but he was harming the postseason by giving the other team knowledge of how you plan to defend them ahead of time.

Why don’t we wait to see if Reddick is a good playoff coach before anointing him, he may end up being the NBA’s version of Marty Schottenheimer, a coach that does great in the regular season and terrible in the playoffs in large part due to treating the regular season like the playoffs. I do know this is probably a bit harsh, due to Reddick already looking a bit better in year 2, but for gods sake, wait until he does something noteworthy (and beating the rockets in the playoffs when they don’t have a functioning offense for the playoffs when teams are specifically gearing their defense against them is not all that big of an accomplishment). I know he is the coach of the Lakers, but the glazing of him when Vogel won a chip with the Lakers and was never glazed like this is ridiculous.

I personally think Reddick is a top 5 coach in the league, only below Daigneault, Mitch Johnson, Mazzula, and Finch. I thought the reports were stupid saying the Lakers thought they had a “Pat Riley figure in Reddick.” While I definitely wouldn’t go that far, I see what they saw in him: someone who’s passionate about basketball and highly intelligent. Honestly, what more would you want from a coach?

I think the biggest concern with JJ right now is he’s stressed and angry all the time and that isn’t a recipe for NBA head coaching longevity/success.

Funny considering how wrong so many people were about how good he would be when he was hired.

JJ Redick isn’t a great coach?

He’s damn good. I’d argue he’s at least in the top 10 right now.

He’s pretty early in his coaching career to get that kind of praise but I certainly think it’s trending in that direction. If he stays in coaching, he’s got a bright career ahead of him.

He’s not the worst but what makes him low key ass is him not being able to adjust using the bench when needed he can very stubborn. Tonight was a great example of him not subbing enough players at the right time which hurt them later in the game.
