There’s no such thing as a superstar rim running center anymore. You have to have either a great dribble for your size (Giannis), a great shot (KAT, Embiid), or great passing (Sabonis) you are not worth a Max at the center position. The only exception is 4xDPOY Gobert

Because he’s barely 22 and can still grow as a player. He’s the first player to be born after LeBron’s debut. The Pistons absolutely are not trying to win a championship this season that’s a crazy take. They’re so young. Tobias Harris is a good vet for them at 33 and Duncan at 31 but legit everyone else is 24 or younger.
He isnt soft, he just doesnt use his toughness at the right moments, during the Orlando series there were too many times the dude would just barrel through people only to get called on a foul cuz he just tackled someone.

I think a big part of it is he just seems so much better. So I don’t miss Cavs JB but Pistons JB seems like a pretty damn good coach. But when he was with the Cavs he did have an absolute atrocious playoff run that last year which soured Cavs fans opinions a lot
I dont think the Cavs miss JB so much as they miss having more youth and athleticism.
That being said JB has actively improved as a coach since his time in Cleveland.
Im in network for Detroit games, so I’ve watched alot of Pistons games the last few years.
He’s doing a good job with adjustments in both series. He did a good job against the Knicks last year too. He utilizes Ausar in the offense quite well and gets the maximum out of the team without 3 pt shooters on offense. Enough of dumb pistons fans are still bitching about him sometimes though which is quite funny.
He’s also towards the top in ATO points this season if I’m not mistaken

Coach of the year is usually a curse though and an indicator that you will lose your job pretty soon historically. Honestly would be good juju for him not to win.
