Jeremy on the difference of regular and Playoff basketball
I feel like Jeremy Lin isn’t a first name only type of guy
Kinda like James Harden. It’s either Harden, or James Harden. Never just James
It’s like LeBron James. We all know who James is, but if you say “LeBron” there’s too many guys to think about.
The crazy part is there actually two lebrons now… insane
Yeah I keep hearing people say stuff like “LeBron shouldn’t be able to do this at 41” and I never know which one they’re talking about.
Bronny isn’t a nickname for Bronathan?
His government name is Bronathan raymondathy jamiroquai Jr.
And the Jr stands for JeRonamo
You already forgot “blocked by James”?
I saw someone call KD “Kevin” and I thought “who the fuck is Kevin?”
Yeah I wondered why would Sochan review a playoffs series of Lakers/OKC while being j in the playoffs himself
Yeah just say J-Lin so we can all assume the wrong guy.
His last name would be but sadly first name too vague
The only reason I initially thought it would be hin is because he has been doing these breakdowns all season and they have been posted here a few times, but yeah definitely not a first name guy.
My brain read Jeremy Lin automatically for some reason
Yeah but I’d be surprised if it was Jeremy lamb
I bet you think all Jeremy’s look the same!
Not many other Jeremies I thought of off the top of my head, and he’s been providing analysis all playoffs. There might be other Jeremies in the NBA if you take some time to think about it, but he’s the first I thought of right away
Greatly appreciate this breakdown
We just got educated by Harvard

The worst part about Reddit is people only reading the headline or the first 5 seconds of a video before making a comment
lol omg thank you so much Mr expert of all the Reddit couch potato’s. Your service is appreciated. Or it’s just a fun videos with good clips of basic stuff that people are allowed to enjoy. 🤦
Awesome video, some real basketball analysis and it’s probably not gonna get 1/10th of the upvotes that a video of Nick Wright calling Shai a flopper will. Sad state of affairs over here, lol.
“ASIANS” shirt goes pretty hard
It’s his “Asians can ball too” shirt. For people who want to buy it I’ll link right here
between these vids that jeremys putting out, the thinking basketball youtube channel, thinking basketball’s videos on nba’s official youtube channel, there’s a lot of really good content out there
Are these break downs from him on YouTube? I couldn’t find them on his channel. I only see them on Reddit
I think it’s on his instagram
Hoop venue is really good as well
Screw all of those interesting analysis, I only want to watch flopping highlights.
This is not just a playoffs thing but a Lakers thing. Due to our lack of good defenders, we’ve been running these highly unbalanced gimmick defenses all season long. You saw it against KD in G2 last series and you saw it again against SGA in G1.
It’s a credit to Redick and the coaching team that these gimmicky schemes have worked out pretty well across the board. When you run these unbalanced schemes you’re relying on team rotations being on point and G2 against Houston was probably the best rotations I’ve seen from this team in years. But at the end of the day these gimmicky defenses are a fallback and I’m pretty sure JJ would love to run more real defensive schemes if he had better defenders.
Not saying that ball denial is ‘gimmicky’ obviously, I’m more referring to the super blatant double teams and being completely open to playing 3v4 defense in the half court more often than not. At the end of the day in this era of spacing you shouldn’t be getting away with this kind of stuff.
nailed it perfectly
Yep, absolutely guarantee that he would. It’s great to have wackier defensive schemes as a fallback and/or to use in short bursts, but they’re unorthodox for a reason. Once teams get accustomed to playing against them, the vulnerabilities tend to become pretty damn noticeable.
does anyone know what the play 2 Fists actually is?
was hoping Lin would explain it after calling it out. i know Fist from 2k is a pick and roll. is he just saying Shai as the 2 guard is gonna set a screen for Ajay, like what ends up happening?
It’s a play where multiple offensive players get into position near the defense’s best player to attempt to jam their fists up his bum.
I’m sure they shake up signs and hand signals and such all the time so it’s harder for the other team to figure out, so I doubt 2 fists is the same every time.
He should be a talking head. I’d rather have him over Kendrick
This Linanalyst run is some great stuff, he’s not talking about anything complicated but he breaks it all down really well.
i’m glad jeremy is putting these videos out cause the general public/casuals can FINALLY start learning some schemes and the nuances of basketball. The amount of people that don’t even understand the difference between regularr season and playoff basketball is crazy when you talk to the average fan. There’s an insane level of difference and you don’t do what you would normally do in the regular season. Every possession matters so much more. 2nd chance points. Turnovers. Transition points especially if there’s a chance, you NEED to make those baskets, etc etc
Why is this playoff specific? Surely the same principle would work in regular season games as well?
It takes a lot of energy to run this type of defense. You’re exposing your weak side and risk having role players beat you in high leverage situations. Role players don’t have that stress in a regular season game and more likely to pop off
Regular season you can afford best players to do their thing because it’s a very long season. Losing one game doesn’t matter. Losing one playoff game cause a Steph or SGA goes crazy in a bo7 is just demoralizing
Scoring in general drops dramatically in playoffs
it also requires you to tune your game plan to your opponent - there’s only so much film you can watch to prep in an 82 game season playing different teams every night with different dudes in and out of the rotation
way easier to play an organized game plan when you have some idea what’s coming night to night
most defenses in regular season just goes man and let their instincts take over. rarely do you see defense actually adjusts to a player
In the regular season it’s more likely random players have crazy good games or game highs because the planning is more lax and less focused on a team you’re potentially facing 7x in a row.
You need your stars to show up in the playoffs eventually; and momentum is a massive part of that. Maybe the Thunder can win games from just being a better team for awhile, but eventually in those tough games you’re going to need your superstar to go for 30/35pts, and if he’s ice cold the entire series the chance of him going nuclear die off.
Lot less team-specific prep. When you play a team many times in a row you get used to all their specific plays with their various personnel combos, each players subtle tendencies, can know which defensive matchups work, etc.
Also, one thing he doesn’t bring up is that these kinds of schemes often lead you to having to rotate/chase everywhere else. That’s both tiring and very mistake prone, gotta really be locked in to not have a bunch of free looks when you blow a rotation.
#AND LIN KICKS IT OUT TO NOVAK FOR THE UNCONTESTED THREEEEEEE
NBA Champion, Jeremy Lin. Right Carmelo?
This was exactly my point during the Spurs v Blazers series when a lot of people on this sub were claiming that the Spurs were being antisemitic and picking on Avdija.
No, the Spurs targeted him bc he happened to be the Blazers biggest threat.
I won’t be surprised if he becomes a head coach someday
That may be an “easy 2” for Detroit’s offense, but don’t think it was truly easy.
Funny that on the paused screen of four lakers looking at Shai you can see Shai pushing off on Hayes
Every new Jeremy Lin segment is the new greatest
Another great vid from jlin. Better than most on ESPN 😤
Jeremy’s commentary is much better than most of the clowns on television
that brown push off there
God I miss playoff basketball.
Nice, this was a great breakdown

Allegedly
dude coudn’t even handle some trash talk in practice, how he gonna handle a playoff environment of 30k fans calling you ass
Lowkey a jab at Kobe? Since Kobe was known as the black mamba? 👀👀👀
Dude is reading. Thinks he is doing some Mamba Breakdown. LMAO
Why you reading though? Can’t remember what you are gonna say? You have to read from script for a ONE MINUTE video? LMAO
