$50 bucks, I’ll caveat this was years ago— gaming was different, it felt like actual community in some of those Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne chat channels and clans. This was pre-DotA 2 and it was a lot of the same guys playing in the DotA custom games, particularly the higher level ones… so there was some peer pressure to pay because others joined to watch the 1v1. It wasnt nearly as anonymous as gaming today, and you could always tell when guys started creating alts too because the community was small enough chathh style, play style, hero picks, etc. would be giveaways

Based on my experience Rocket League is pretty much the same 1v1 as 3v3, I suck either way.

Nah I hate playing the ultra defensive way you have to play 1v1. It’s not the same game. Rotation and pressing are huge parts of the game and pretty non existent there. And I don’t play 2s, I play 3s and snow day (D2 in snow so firmly mediocre)
Totally fair, I enjoy 2’s and 3’s when I’m playing with friends who I can communicate with. With randoms in my rank most of them don’t rotate and they get titled easily if you miss a shot or don’t just sit at goal blocking shots all game.
I like 1’s because it places more emphasis on ball control and knowing when to be aggressive/defensives. Mistakes are punished really harshly so I feel like the mode has improved my dribbling and game instincts. Totally agree it’s like a different game though. it’s kind of a good analogy for how a 1v1 basketball game is very different from the team version.

They average similar points per game, but Rivers was able to be the primary ball handler and create a shot when needed, and in his two highest scoring years his assisted shot percentage was below his career numbers.
Draymond is obviously the far superior NBA player, like it’s not even a conversation, but Rivers is easily the superior scorer, Draymond doesn’t have the ability to create for himself which is ok because he’s good at getting to the spots he needs to be and creating for others along with screening
Dray is legitimately a better player than Austin Rivers. That being said. We wouldn’t even know who Draymond is if he got drafted to the hornets. They wouldn’t have let him run the offense with a more traditional PG. He has no scoring package. He’s an all time defensive player but I think he flames out in a few years in another system. His specific skill set is excellent for a team with a 1 and 2 that can play off ball and are primarily looking to shoot. For anyone who doesn’t know (I’m assuming most of you), this is stemming from Austin Rivers going back and forth with the youtube 1 v 1 community, namely Nasir Core from Off the Dribble/ Ballislife.
Basically, some random fans were spitballing potential match ups for the #1 ranked player (Nasir Core) and one of them said they think he would beat Austin Rivers. Rivers saw the video and commented basically calling Nas trash and saying he doesn’t have the resume to play him, then the entire community responded negatively obviously and Draymond is trolling Rivers about it.
The 1 v 1 community has been growing a lot, a lot of NBA players watch and comment and former NBA guys have been coming, talking trash and losing to these youtube guys. So people aren’t taking Austin Rivers seriously when he’s talking trash and won’t go play. I think they offered him 50k to play the game and he said that isn’t enough.
I think it started when rivers was on the Dan Patrick pod and he said draymond shouldn’t be saying the things about Kerr holding him back

We’ve seen Austin Rivers play that EXACT same Trail Blazers team and average 10/2/2 with a usage rate of 22%. You were never on his level Austin. Don’t ever make me defend Draymond again.
I’m an unapologetic Draymond defender, but he’s never come close to regaining his offensive production and shooting touch that he hit in 2016.
That said I’d still take him over Austin today in a 1:1 and I don’t think it’d be close. He’d be able to back him down easily and also rebound all his misses around the rim. He still guards elite point guards on switches so I don’t see an out-of-the-league Austin blowing past him. Add in the fact that he’s 50 pounds heavier with a way longer reach and I think it’s a wrap. It’d probably be an ugly sight to see though.
