I feel like in every other sport that has some physicality they let some shit go in the playoffs… Not in the NBA tho. Just so many soft calls both ways
They called 24 personal fouls in the first half. Who wants to see that? Imagine if they keep this pace up and call almost 50 fouls in an NBA playoff game.
I don’t mind calling 50 fouls if they’re obvious and egregious. But these are soft fouls both ways. You have to let them play more in the playoffs.
And then there’s the NHL where it’s “is he alive? nothing”

We shoot 63⁄50, we win by 38. We shoot 54⁄25, we trail by one at the half. Cry about it.

This is our game to lose. But I like what I see so far. Even with Maxey and PG playing inspired basketball, and VJ locking brunson up, we are keeping it close. We keep throwing defenders at them, and it’s gonna be a tough 4th quarter for philly 😎

Of course I want my guys to win, but this has the potential to be the most fun series in this playoffs so far. It’s good for the sport.
Agreed that’s why it’s so disappointing that Philly didn’t sit Embiid game 1 after they knew the schedule. Complaint worthy or not, a game every 2 days starting game 3 of the Boston series through game 6 of the New York series is just rough as hell & frankly impossible for someone like Embiid. Instead of managing it, they had him play tired game 1 and sat out game 2 lol. I personally feel they could’ve conceded the first and then stole this one, but we’ll never know. Hope the rest of the series is as close as tonight’s game, bc the northeast rivalries are fun as hell
I’m not sure it would have made a difference. It’s sorta 50⁄50 whether they play better or worse with Embiid on the floor. He slows their offense down considerably, and his, ahem, frequent foul-shooting tends to take the rest of the team out of rhythm.
If Embiid plays well, the team does well; if he plays poorly, the team does poorly; but if he’s off the floor, it’s more of a team effort, so guys can pick up the slack from each other.
I’m singularly focused on OG right now. Hoping he’s just got a lil booboo, and we can rest him next game. Going up 2-0 is huge for us in light of his injury. Knicks fans are getting 2024 flashbacks lol.
