[Hoop Collective] Mavericks HC Jason Kidd tried to become team president, according to Tim MacMahon but has known for months he wasn’t getting the job.
Masai is banishing him to the shadow realm after one season. He’s not scared to fire people
Kidd has done a pretty good job imo i don’t see why they would can him
Plenty of reasons.
Voices get stale, could be some bitterness (getting passed up for the guy that’s your boss now) that impacts their relatuonship, has his own guys and vision for the team/staff, might want to clear all the Luka trade stink out of the building, etc.
Also he’s a wife beater who can go to hell
Agreed but this is the nba we’re talking about.
Beating your wife is an allowable offence.
I think the general concern with Kidd is that he’s always angling for more power within the organization.
Also, Dallas fans can correct me, but I believe most have been pretty annoyed by his coaching the past few years (I thought he was legitimately great back in 2024’s playoffs).
he doesn’t have an offense outside of Luka, save us.
This has always been the biggest issue with him as a coach.
This year, we needed spacing desperately for Cooper and instead, we were 27th in 3pa
Kidd is a snake, he was trying to get control of the Bucks even while the coach of the Nets and the Bucks still were coached by Larry Drew. I wouldn’t doubt if he’s already making phone calls to get another job.
Masai Uareoutofhere
I hope he fires him immediately. I dont want that clown to claim that he made flagg a good player like he tries to do with giannis.
Are you sure about that? He hung onto Casey for like 2-3 years longer than he should have.
just interested to know where frank vogel will end up.
Interested in a reunion?
Yeah. I want him back as a Pacers assistant. Along with a couple other key assistants who are employed by the Pacers, we’d have a nice succession plan if/when Rick retires.
Realistically, I think he probably finds a head coaching gig within 2 years. The player empowerment era is practically over w/ the new CBA, which is big for Vogel in particular: dude has been forced out by stars & then replaced by scrubs over and over.
Bird was the one who forced him out not pg 😂😂
Bird & PG were in cahoots, feeding off each others’ delusions.
Bird his whole coaching and executive career has felt a head coach can only last so long. That’s why he quit as Pacers HC, he felt 3 years was enough.
No they wasnt 😂
Yeah they were. Go back through the transcripts.
Bird & PG were both pushing the narrative that the Pacers needed switch from a defense-first team to an offense-first team centered around PG. They started pushing this right as PG came back from breaking his leg in half.
Bird doesn’t resign Vogel; he trades George Hill for Jeff Teague (huge L); and he made a bunch of other roster downgrades in his attempt to build an offense-first team. Even with PG back at full health the next season, the Pacers massively under-performed. Not even close to being a contender.
In light of this failure, Bird & PG tried to convince ownership to go deep into the tax. Their argument was that the Pacers were 1 piece away from contention, but the team clearly needed much more than another star to contend. It was a far cry from the 2012-2014 team.
The Simons rightfully refused to go into the tax to that “1 piece”. That off-season, Larry Bird stepped down and Paul George forced his way out.
Naw yall just tryin to scapegoat pg like usual 😂
lol, the history is all there. it was all well documented in real time.
It’s mostly on Larry Bird for corrupting the youth. Dude started to go off his rocker as a GM in 2013. But PG was totally on board w/ Bird’s fuckery.
Just sit in the chair and pretend you were hired Jason
J Kidd for just kidding
He gone
For president? Really? In what world, Jason?
Oh god, thank lord they prevented that
This is so funny didn’t he try pulling this with the nets? I know he tried with the bucks
