I’d argue that UNRWA and other branches feeding starving people in Palestine or Sudan need more support.

UNRWA is likely the most effective aid organization working with Palestinians, which is why Israel and the US have targeted it.

But I don’t know the specifics of Turner’s donation. I just don’t think it’s so simple to dismiss the UN as a whole.

You may be right, although Ted Turner made some pretty supportive comments about Palestine, considering he was a rich American. And he famously (and correctly) accused Israel of state terrorism.

Sounds like his donation went toward “fighting deadly but preventable diseases, promoting women’s health, protecting the environment, and encouraging conflict prevention.”

Of course aid can sometimes be a part of imperialism and is not necessarily ideologically neutral. But it sounds like some of these programs are genuinely important.
