[Injury] The OKC Thunder bench reacts to Jarred Vanderbilt’s hand injury:
That doesn’t look good.
The way they reacted it seems like it broke skin or his finger is completely out of place
Even the guy who had cancer earlier this year ran away
booiiiiii 😭😭😭😭😭 lsjdlsskalakoalas im dead
lsjdlsskalakoalas
I know he’s Eastern European but I’m pretty sure that’s not how you spell his name
Bro this killed me lol
Then how did you post this comment?
Obviously, we have the Internet in hell
Yeah, that’s an Australian name
💀
(But glad he’s not)
^^^^jesus
This is it. Pic going around of a nasty little compound fracture of his pinky.
The brain tends to completely recoil from bone but on the outside.
A reminder for why I don’t skate anymore.
I thought the same at first but there was no blood dripping so bone breaking through the skin is probably not it.
dislocation?
I’m thinking bad break
I had this exact reaction when I broke multiple bones in my hand (fingers specifically) doing some drunk football throwing with friends. Held it between my legs because I knew there were bad breaks and I needed a second before looking to process how bad it was going to be, and then my friends all recoiled when I held that hand up. I’m not a doctor but he broke some shit in his hand/fingers and he knew it.
Hopefully his isn’t as bad as mine was or he’s done for the season. I needed surgery and had two giant pins put into my hand to keep my bones straight while they healed. I think the pins were finally removed after three or four weeks and then rehab was slow and terrible.
Also not a doctor but probably done for the season regardless right? There’s only like a month left even if they make the finals.
Realistically their seasons over this time next week
yeah game 6 against Houston was the end of our season
Just give him some icy hot he’ll be back for game 3
Are you Doctor Strange?
Wouldn’t be in this much pain if it were just a simple finger dislocation. I’ve dislocated a finger 3-4 times and it’s an injury that’s much more shocking than painful. It looks gross, but doesn’t hurt. You can really just yank it back into place and be fine. However, if this was at the stem or the wrist then it might be a whole different equation.
Not sure about you, but popping it back in place, it swells up like a b1tch and it hurts for a good week.
There is a lot of variability in dislocations. If there is additional damage to ligaments and tendons, it can take a while to heal. If there is no damage, it can basically be fine immediately.
Yeah Kobe put it back in place and he immediately returned to the game.
Yeah, I have done that in a game and there was absolutely no soreness or swelling. It felt completely normal afterwards. It’s a weird feeling. It startled me (finger was sideways) so I just pulled it and it slipped right back in to place.
Felt completely normal to you. Meanwhile, reading your post still managed to give me the shivers.
True have had dislocated fingers take from 3hrs to 3 months to feel normal.
Yeah I knew a dude who played linebacker who would dislocate his shoulder 1⁄2 times a game.
He’d run up to coach after the play looking like a kicked puppy, and coach would sigh, set it, and he’d go right back out there like nothing happened lol
After he was done with football he got anchors put in, but he said he didn’t think it was worth it until he was done with contact sports because he’d just fuck it up again lol
i broke my pinky and shattered my 4th finger metacarpal playing basketball. It definitely hurt but not like his reaction. I’m guessing he messed up some tendons too or maybe it was a compound fracture.
Yup, I remember dislocating one of my finger playing flag football and it wasn’t painful at all. I pretty much popped it back in myself and I was only 13 then. I do have some insane pain tolerance tho
More likely a break with ligament damage. Happened to me on a somewhay similar motion (I was driving with the ball and someone reached in and poked my ring finger essentially straight back). I felt how Vando looked like he felt here
Replay looked rough, hope he has a fast recovery
I missed when they showed it. Came here to see if someone will post it
His pinky was caught on the backboard when trying to block a shot, probably dislocated
I just saw a image of it and I think his bone is sticking out of his skin.
After his hand hit the backboard the pinky was flopping in the wind like my dogs ears out the truck window
That is some fuckin imagery right there. I can hear it but I’m also still imagining it’s a pinky 🤢
He’s an artist, with his words
But all art isn’t necessary
A description so good that I hate it.
I really need to stop eating dinner and scrolling Reddit at the same time
Well I hope you read this reply after dinner because I hope he isn’t a right handed wiper…
i caught a split second of that image on one of the replays. and that was more than enough.
Thank god for comment section I can’t ever watch those things
Can you post it or the link here? Couldnt make out what it was in the replay
De-gloved
Ouchies
I live in fear of the day someone has their finger caught in the net and well yeah it gets yanked clean off. :(
Gerald green would like to say hello
Okay
Yea he basically swatted the backboard with his fingers and immediately went down.
He missed the ball, swiped the backboard and it looked like his pinky snapped back upon impact. Rough.
Ahhh fuck ouch Jesus
There’s several views on twitter, looks like a compound fracture of the pinky
Just go to the LeBron James of fingers
Dont think I’ve ever seen players react like that to a basketball injury
Go back and watch the reactions to the Kevin Ware one. That one was really brutal
I would not recommend going back on the high chance you see the actual injury itself
Watching that happen live as a kid scarred me for a while lol
Sadly, that event is how I remember what year I met my wife. Sticks out in history.
Ball is life mentality
“Sticks out”
You are a wordsmith, sir.
2013! Now I remember what year you met your wife. I got your back.
He ended up transferring to Georgia State while I was at school there. Was standing behind him at a wing place on campus and couldn’t stop thinking about how I’d seen the inside of his leg.
My mom and I left the room for like 30s when that happened and we legit thought someone died coming back in after they showed the last replay.
I’ll never forget where and when I watched that. I was 16 and we were in the middle of a long weekend tournament. We were chilling at the motel in between games watching the tournament, and saw the Ware injury live. Fucking traumatic.
Then we had to go and play a game of basketball, I remember it felt like we were playing on pins and needles.
I didn’t even really watch college ball, my dad just had it on tv when I walked in the room and it happened seconds later my goodness
yeah I never wanna see that shit again, watching it live freaked me out enough. I feel like they even showed a replay before they realized what happened
Literally players puking on the sideline.
Ah, don’t worry, top google search image sorted that one out for me
Reminds me of Anderson Silva’s and Chris Weidman’s leg breaks. That shit was nasty.
Yeah watched the weidman fight live, jumped out of my room when that happened
It’s why you need years of conditioning to be able to do that stuff. I remember watching it on ppv at a friend’s place and it was terrible to watch live
Those guys definitely had years of conditioning. A hard kick and a perfect check and a likely already compromised leg can have those types of insane results.
I missed it, but that high definition picture is seared into my brain.
HELL NO.
I can stomach a lot of shit.
But the Kevin Ware injury has me hesitating on jumping and landing wrong.
Gordon Hayward too, and Victor they have the bench praying
Hell even PG’s!
Ya in a nothing warmup game for FIBA cup. Ware got injured in the final four, not thats its better but that game kinda meant something. PGs injury was freakish in a game that literally had no value.
I don’t think it was a Final Four game since it happened on Easter Sunday. I’m pretty sure it was an Elite Eight game.
That game will ever be burned into my mind. I was on overnight desk duty for my battalion watching it on my laptop. I almost threw up.
Odd kind of duty, watching it for your battalion. Thank you for your service
No one should watch that fr
Yeah I don’t want to see bones
Is this when the leg broke in half and it was hanging perhaps bone through skin as well? I cannot watch injuries and I absolutely hate how they replay them right after
Yeah when he was at Louisville vs Duke lol. It was not a good watch
Or Livingston, or PG, or Hayward…
Worse injury I’ve ever seen, the injury itself and the reactions are chilling
I still remember an injury to Allan Ray where his eyelid somehow went behind his eye, and it looked like his eyeball had popped out of the socket. He was ok though.
I was watching that game on a half hour delay because of pausing for family meal. We saw something had happened on FB but didn’t know what exactly and just went back to watching the game. Wish I’d just turned it off and moved on. Even on TV it made me physically ill.
I wish I didn’t see that one.
PG and Gordon Hayward’s reactions are top
I damn near downvoted this just because you chose to mention it. Treat that video like Voldemort or some shit.
That’s where my mind went too. Granted the reaction was MUCH bigger and it was his own bench, but still. Worst sports injury of all time, along with Clint Malarchuck getting his throat slit open by a skate during a hockey game.
Marcus Lattimore still worst injury I’ve ever seen live. Man’s entire leg became jello
That and the Willis McGahee injury are the 2 that stand out in my mind clear as day
got to see that in an airport 😭
I saw Gordon Haywards leg and ankle break live on tv
The ncaa tournament with his leg right? That’s my go to it’s brutal
Paul George 😳
I’ll never get that image out of my head.
God aa a Cardinals fan that year is so cursed. I was hyped watching the team succeed my senior year of high school. Had Gorgui Deng come in to hang out during my reading period and got us all excited. Then the injury hit like a train. Winning the championship was supposed to be the happy ending story to a tumultuous year.
Sadly, “happy endings” courtesy of Pitino took that away…
Just watched it… Holy hell! That is insane and how does that even happen. I’m sure the guy up front fainted.
I remember his name for one reason and this is it. I will not go back and look at that lmfao
Gordon Haywards foot being on sideways was a stomach turner. Guys were immediately grossed out and heart broken.
I’ll always remember Kevin Harlan’s call too. One of the best in the business just completely lost it for that moment and all he could say was “Hayward’s broken his leg” and “Oh my gosh.”
When the camera flipped to the baseline angle I nearly puked. Couldn’t really tell what had happened then they were like shooting up the length of his leg shutters
I remember I wasn’t fully paying attention and then heard my dad from the other room yell “OHHHHH SHIT”
Paul George
Whole team was crying
Hayward
Kevin Ware
Taylor Hendricks
Shaun Livingston
Kevin Ware Louisville..
Go watch the high light of Paul George or Gordon Hayward
gordon hayward?
paul george breaking his leg.
You should look up the clip of Paul George breaking his leg.
Oh my sweet gen z child…
Im 30 everyone replying with college or natonal ball lol
Bro you never seen the Gordon Hayward injury 💀
Im from New Zealand and at the time was a huge thunder fan cause of Steven Adams. Completely stopped watching ball until covid cause of KD jumping to warriors. So missed that one but suprised i didnt hear about it until now
Player had an eye pop out in an NBL game a while back
Worst one I’ve ever seen
Don’t think I’ll ever unseen Livingston’s injury
Kyrie crying after Paul George breaking his leg always stuck with me when thinking about how bad injuries can be on people not directly involved
That chick in pink looks extra bugged out
J-Disco never seen anything like that on the dance floor
J-Disco is absolutely beautiful, thank you for this one
J-Disco I’m dead that’s a good one
Turned around like a concerned aunt
Lmaooo
Is that J Dub?
Lmfaooo
That is truly a terrible fit lol id rather see westbrook in a skirt
It’s fantastic. What are you on
Not enough drugs apparently
grow up and grow out ffs
reddit nba fans have the absolute worst opinions on fashion. they crap on any outfits that stray the smallest amount away from a normal outfit
They also showed the slowmo of the injury after this. Gruesome
Topic just noped the fuck outta there.
Yeah there is a brief glimpse before they covered his hand in one shot and it looked swollen already. Pretty sure it’s broken.
Its probably pointing the wrong way…
Dislocated?
Dub that fit is not it bro 😭
Lol my first thought was legit “I thought they didn’t allow the player’s gfs/wives at the bench”
The pants make the man, or is it the other way around
First Shai in the sports bra, now JW in this
Compound fracture
Fuck man, Lakers really can’t catch a break. Used up all our luck in the first series.
That’s not dislocation, it’s a broken finger
What is the injury??
Smacked the shit out of the backboard with his pinky
jammed finger
You would think they all have seen a lot of basketball injuries too so this one might be extra bad.
It looked like his Pinky flailed man
To be fair to the OKC bench, when they saw Vanderbilt approaching they immediately cleared the chairs and even motioned for the staff to sit down. I fucking hate Lu Dort, but these guys are all right.
I watched season 2 of Starting Five which features SGA. I’m a Lakers fan so no love lost for OKC but they all seem like really really nice guys and they are actual friends off the court.
Between that and Ayton going alongside him for as long as he could, shows a lot about sportsmanships and when it’s not just about the game.
Honestly the team and the fans were all class in that moment.
That’s brutal damn
Oh my god I didn’t even notice that reaction lmao
Good lord I hope it’s not broken. Maybe dislocated?
Jdub looks horrified
It’s real bad. I have a screenshot but nowhere to share it.
I wann see em. Dm me
Never works but please dm me.
Bro the thunder should atleast donate us 2 of their ‘worst’ player.
Reminds me of the Cavs bench reacting to Gordon Hayward’s ankle injury.
that was awful, I hope it didn’t break the skin. yeesh.
hope he recovers quick
JWill looking like an auntie
that’s dub
bet a fractured pinky maybe even shattered the bone
I didn’t see the play that caused it but that can’t be good.
“A great deal of discomfort”…. Maybe a little more than that
Lost part of his finger apparently
Source???
Someone sitting right behind Thunder bench
If you’re the first one to report an NBA player losing a finger that would be insane If he lost his pinky wouldn’t it have been laying on the floor and blood everywhere?
Part of*
The info I got was it was stuck in there. Not sure how much, or if it’s just a bit of skin.
I’m not arguing, just relaying what I heard.
LMAO Isaiah Joe just unfazed and unbothered as hell
Made me think his skin was hanging off or something lmao
I watched this in real time, but totally missed OKC’s bench’s reaction. Damn, it must’ve been gruesome.
The tik tok Thunder bench would react that way.
Fuck bro
Damn.
He’s out for sure 😬
That’s something you hate to see happen. I hope he’s going to be ok and not something career ending.
I want to seeeee
Degloved?
The floppers finally get a good look at what an actual injury looks like
Badly Jammed pinky. That can hurt so much. My entire finger was blue for a week and I couldnt move it for 2 weeks without extreme pain
So they’re disgusted by the result, but ok with inflicting these kinds of injuries on their opponents?
He hit his hand on the backboard…
These dudes too soft
