[Highlight] Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scores the tough And-1 on Jaxson Hayes (with replays).
You can see JJ Redick’s live reaction, saying “NO!”
Are people really thinking JJ’s reaction is thinking it’s not a foul? He clearly seems frustrated with his guys because they practiced to be more disciplined and not send him to the line.
You can see the crowd hasn’t reacted behind him yet, I’m pretty sure he’s reacting to the horrible transition defense from Laravia because they let Shai go right by into the lane when they’ve been doubling him early in possessions most of the night. He could see it developing live
The fact that LaRavia is getting the minutes he does is so sad for the Lakers
people in the game thread will look you in the face and say it isn’t a foul
you mean I can’t just leap and throw my body at a player shooting the basketball?! but I put my hands up!!
Hands up don’t whistle!
Did he even make contact? Like I don’t see anything here. You can jump wherever you want if you don’t make contact to the player.
Also, there’s such a thing as marginal contact, even when you’re not vertical that’s relevant here.
Wemby didn’t have 4 goal tending blocks last night either. I got you dog.
soft
At this point I just sit back and laugh. It’s so funny seeing all the cope
[deleted]
Definitely a foul, but if they called every foul like that every team would be shooting FTs every possession.
This gets called basically every time… You can’t just jump anywhere you want because your hands are up
Look at what theyve been calling for Marcus smart though. Similar shit.
I saw the Smart clip and it was even worse lol
No they wouldn’t.
No, that’s a foul that should be, and is called most times it happens
‘But he has his hands up! He clearly didn’t foul him and even said its not a foul’
Cason Wallace and Dort commit 20 fouls a game LMAO. What do you mean bro.
It wasn’t
This is not a foul.
Here’s the thing though it’s the consistency of this call. 9⁄10 times if ant is in SGA’s place there, it’s a no call. Some guys just have an insane whistle. Minimal contact on SGA is a foul everytime.
It isn’t a foul, it is a travel
It’s two fouls lol. Laravia grabs him on the way through as well.
What the fuck are you even looking at 😂😂😂
Ya. Should have been a 4 point free throw play there.
The game? The fuck are you watching.
You’re not wrong, he literally slaps his shooting arm on the drive
His shoulder is visibly pulled back on the way through, but people don’t want to see that.
I’m convinced people on this sub don’t know how to scrub video to slow it down and look frame by frame
Only when Shai’s contorting his body in a freak way or making faces on the replay.
Are you fucking blind or are you stupid… Maybe you are both.. coz wtf
Gotta love the attempt at vertical arms while jumping sideways and forward
Jaxson Hayes interprets the rulebook like an internet rando, he sticks the arms straight up while delivering a flying bodycheck pretty often
i mean he is a domestic abuser, he’s not known to follow rules
Also mascot abuser.
Pretty good take lol
Forward?
Look at the direction he’s running. He jumps forward from his perspective. That’s not legal guarding position
Was his foot not on the ground before the ball left his hand
yes, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen this called
https://youtu.be/FBm6mX4cUpw?si=-I9Eu-LFX_rS1LJF
I distinctly remember this one not being called
yeah they don’t even call it in college, that’s how rare it is lol
ELITE. FOOTWORK.
Was definitely worth a review but they seemed to just brush passed it
Never once seen a play like this reviewed in my life. I don’t know if it’s even reviewable anyway
really? this happens 5x a game, every game
Why do you guys consistently argue in the favor of bullshit lmao
because it’s legitimately never been called? i wouldn’t comment this about bucket being made in NBA history…
Tough
One of those as a coach you just go “FUCK”
That highly contested middy before was nice too
Ridiculous shot
Bro jumped from the middle on the paint to out of bounds and thought that counted as “vertical”. My brother in Christ you went in EVERY direction.
He doesn’t have to be vertical for it to not be a foul. He shadows SGA, doesn’t bump him off his line, doesn’t initiate contact. It’s pretty fn borderline tbh.
Yeah he definitely does bump him AND initiates contact and shadowing is only legal until you’re inhibiting the landing space of the shooter. He flies in from the side and ends up infront of him making contact. That’s not very good shadowing.
He doesn’t fly in from the side lol watch the replay their feet are planted parallel from each other and they are travelling along the same line. This is completely marginal contact. SGA is already stumbling before any contact takes place then flails. Soft call. Plain and simple.
Do people genuinely think this isn’t a foul?
Welcome to the hate parade! It’s mostly random made up nonsense to justify “I don’t like the thunder”.
This subs basketball knowledge is so fucking bad now. Nobody here would have questioned this foul 10 years ago. Its wild to see how crazy people are about every single call these days.
It’s even crazier because the games used to have even more free throws than today but everyone wants to call it unwatchable. But somehow 50 3PA are okay.
Couldn’t imagine how the internet today would react watching games from the 2000s/2010s where final scores were often 90-100 with 30 free throw attempts for both teams. Or even them watching the KD/Chris Paul rip-thru shooting foul before the league changed it.
Houston James Harden would have broken their brains
Yes they do. It might be a weak playoff call, but it’s a foul.
It’s not even weak though it’s a stupid foul.
It’s weak
People seriously watching this play and hating…
Tough bucket getter
wow
His own coach sees this as a *Jaxson Hayes skill issue, but mfers on Reddit think they know better lol
Tough ass shot
So tuff.
Weak call
Do mrbuckbuck videos not work for anyone else? The never play for me and it’s annoying AF. If anyone else posts on here they work fine.
JJ knows ball.
Phenomenal D from Smart
This league is so soft. Tough finish but this stuff is tough to watch.
Natural shooting motion.
LaRavia shouldn’t have fouled him
This is what I mean when I say SGA famously plays through contact.
That had to be Reaves fault on that play
I’m being overly pedantic here. I don’t ever really see him move forward in the clip, he’s constantly angling more and more back towards his basket (backward). But he cuts off Shai’s angle with his angle, so I think I know what you mean by him going “forward”, I just think it’s relative to Shai’s angle to the basket.
Lowk a soft foul, but that bucket is tuff
You had me in the first half, ngl
Now I dare you to call the same foul on Chet or Hartenstein.
Ok? The lakers shot more FTs 😂
why is he throwing his head back on this play? Pathetic
He got fouled
How many times have u had to say that as an OKC fan? Lmao
Absolutely nobody wants to see that be a foul except OKC fans
Throughout these playoffs there is way worse that goes uncalled. This is minimal contact to me. Still a ridiculous shot
A Dwyane Wade fan complaining that a scoring guard draws too many fouls is fucking comedy
Not a foul, but nice finish
that’s a clear foul wym
How is that not a foul?
The dude is so talented and obviously a very good player, but this kind of shit just makes you want to watch a different sport.
Can’t even blame them because it’s the NBA and you do what gets wins and this gets wins. But I do agree. I’ll watch them late in the playoffs or when they play my team but I just have no desire to watch them any other time.
This entire subreddit is a doctorate level study on confirmation bias. Nothing here is real.
I’m a fan of the game because I enjoy watching it. So if there’s a team that I don’t enjoy watching I’m not gonna watch. I’m not an analyst and this isn’t my job.
You sure love to talk as if you’re one, cause that’s a whole lot of yap for someone who doesn’t watch basketball
Realer than sga shooting motion, pretending ass
He’s getting buckets while pretending to shoot somehow? What the fuck are you saying
[removed]
He literally gets fouled in this clip but somehow it’s justification for him being the all time biggest flopper? I blame myself for even getting in here but I enjoy watching the game with other people. It used to be fun until we got good. Now it’s just all the worst takes in one place.
Don’t engage with these people. They’re clueless.
Just real
Nothing to do with okc’s talent, out of the 2853462 okc haters in this sub, i bet 99% of them can acknowledge talent but be aware shai step like a bitch at the same time. Why cant you? Its goofy? Make no damn sense.
99% of this sub gets all of their info from curated clips. You could laser focus on any top player in the league and come up with clips to justify whatever narrative you want. The internet is a toxic hellhole of angry/sad people.
“Laser focus”
Its every game. Be fucking real.
SGA is not basketball. There ya go, there’s his new slogan.
You’re a cornball. There ya go, put that on a tee
And flair up
Not my MVP! Oh no! Hayes obviously hit SGA’s funny bone with his ribs. RUDE!
If it were anyone else in the league, the first talking point would be about what an amazing shot that was
Because Shai has built up a deserved reputation that precedes anything else.
Um.. yea that’s how reputations work bro.
You cannot breathe on FTA
this is pretty obviously a foul
It’s Hayes bro
Deadass? Lol
Ah wait, Hayes clearly got SGA in the vagina there. Nvm shoot your free throw queen
Hayes is used to hitting people with vaginas bro
If shai actually had a vagina hayes would’ve punched him in the face instead
You cooked with this one bro hahaha XD
