The Magic need shooters and they can run Suggs Black Dick lineup

This is the most unshocking thing I’ve read in a while.

Of course Dick is open to a trade, his career is dying fast and it’s far more likely to be resurrected somewhere else.

He needs to be on a team that can give him playing time so he can fix his broken shot.

He’ll get traded and start hitting 40% from three.

But seriously he’s completely fallen out of rotation. He showed flashes last year in particular but this year he was just bad. Would suck to give up on him but probably best for him to be moved.

A change of scenery is probably what’s needed because he wasn’t doing crap in Toronto 

I’m not surprised, he has a unique skillset for the roster with movement shooting but if he’s not hitting shots it’s useless because he doesn’t bring enough else to the table. He popped off a couple times scoring in high usage because he’s a big and pretty athletic guard and he’d get to the line attacking closeouts but that doesn’t do enough when he needs to be a low usage and either hyper efficient guy or at least be hitting like 36% from 3 on a diet of mostly tough shots and like 40% on open catch and shoot for him to be worth getting rotation minutes. He was lapped in the rotation this year after getting ample opportunity to cement himself as the 6th man/ first wing off the bench but Ja’Kobe surpassed him as a shooter who may be less dynamic but is more reliable and a much better defender, being an incredibly sticky guard. Jamison Battle also came in and is stronger to line up at SF while he’s been better at coming in and nailing his shots in a limited role and is also a better defender. Even AJ Lawson got run in the playoffs for his defence when they needed more wing minutes when BI went down and hit a couple crucial 3s in game 6 as another guy who Gradey would be competing with for minutes on the wing

Dick is hoping to be on an NBA team next season is more like it.

Someone will get their hands on Dick before next season.

Gradey Dick is a great example of what happens when a player confidence is shot, and how mental the game really is… dude was sniper from three in college, and the best three point shooter in the draft in 2023, had a pretty good rookie season, a very solid sophomore season in which it looked like he was ready to take that next step, and then looked horrible this season… he went through a bad strech of shooting and you could see he started getting in his head. His body language changed and he looked like had no confidence by the end of the season.

It’s not that Raptors fault, they did everything to help the kid succeed, but there’s clearly a mental block there, and hopefully another team, and a fresh start can get him going again.

I still think he’s got high upside if someone can develop him, but he need to go the the right team.

I just watched Jalen Suggs go 1 for 11 and I still wouldn’t trade him for Gradey Dick…

Gradey Dick is a poor man’s Kevin Huerter. Miscast as a shooter (possibly just through stereotyping) but not good enough at anything else to be all that useful.

Except Gradey Dick has never been nearly as good as Huerter was for the 2-3 years he was a useful player.

i think he’ll be better on another team. probably not 40% from 3 better, but he’ll be more functionable. he’s 6’7, athletic and has a good motor. its primarily a confidence thing

No team is going to be more patient with him than the Raps were his first three seasons.

His value is almost non-existent at this point. I could see him being added as filler in a bigger trade but that is it, no team is going out of their way to get him specifically.

He went from a pretty good shooter in college to just not being able to handle the speed and processing in the nba. He would be an extremely talented Euroleague player though, and could rival Mike James over there honestly

Shot mechanics were not great to begin with. He shoots a set shot that takes a really long time to get set. He also might have the slowest first step of any guard/forward in the league
