The thing is if you are physically exerting yourself as hard as you can (which you pretty much need to do to win in the playoffs) it’s going to tire you out it’s just biology. Doesn’t matter how fit you are everybody will get gassed if they’re going 100% for 7 games in a playoff setting.
Problem is, theyre not playing at this intensity at all during the year and then just assuming they can turn it on. Thats not really how that works. We can meme the whole heat culture thing but they did make their players work hard and bust their asses more often than some other teams and that would usually pay dividends in the playoffs. They might not have had the talent to compete but they always had effort and maintained their speed.
Thats really all I mean, I’m not saying teams should go 100% all the time throughout the year but you gotta get reps in eventually.

No doubt I think Jokic is an amazing player, but seeing the way the Wolves attack him vs the impact Wemby has defensively is like night and day

Wolves are one of the more balanced teams in the league. It gets overlooked in the regular season but shines in the playoffs because you need BOTH great defense and great offense to win a chip.

Ya I think this hits the nail on the head for Minny. Once Ant is fully back it’ll be harder. Losing Donte sucks for them because again they are super balanced and deep.

And we don’t see a ton of wolves bench during the regular season, at least not enough to realize their depth
They also have multiple guys who can create their own shot in isolation, but not that many great 3pt shooters.
In the regular season, having many three point shooters is better with the crazy pace and less focused defenses, but in the playoffs having Ant and Randle be able to score at any point in isolation, and McDaniels vs smaller defenders, is a pretty big advantage.
Plus Reid allows them to adjust to both play lock down defense with Gobert, like they did to Jokic, or stretch the floor with Reid, like they did to Wemby.
That “somehow” was Wemby bricking the 8 3pointers he attempted. I know Rudy is a goat defender, but Wemby should have played closer to the basket.
And yet wolves shot better against spurs than they did nuggets in game one lol.
I also think it is mostly a lot of Gobert with Jokic and others in the paint. He’s such an incredible defender on the court.
