The Minnesota Timberwolves are the only remaining playoff team with no championship title
The Phoenix Suns and the Orlando Magic were the other teams, but they were already eliminated in the first round. Can the Timberwolves defy the odds?
Wolves in 6, Wolves in 7, Wolves in 4, in that order
it’s that simple folks
It’s just basic Mathematics.
Bucka, bucka, bucka, bucka, bucka, bucka
Wolvematics
Wolves in 7 to beat the Lakers seems like too much to me. Prob Wolves in 5-6 for that series.
Honestly surprised this sub can’t understand this fact
Rudy Gobert finals MVP is the only salvation for Jokic’s legacy
RIP shaq 1972-2026
It is foretold.
Ayo finals MVP loading
Lol whoever wins the east is getting swept aren’t they?
I have a theory the west winner is going through such a gauntlet that they’ll be half dead by the time they play the East team
All the east teams have been going to 7 games. East team wont exactly have fresh legs
Why do you think we are saving Ron Holland minutes?
Goodnight wakka pakka
Not against the spurs sadly
Preach!
lol y’all are getting swept
Edit: y’all simply do not have the depth to compete here. Our center is better than yours by a very wide margin (Wemby completely outclasses Gobet on offense, is multiple standard deviations better on defense than Gobert with those margins increasing exponentially the further from the basket you go, and frankly you won’t play him off the floor like Gobert has been in the past and I’m not even mentioning World Champion Luke Kornet coming off the bench) at least 2 maybe 3 of our guards are better than yours until Ant comes back (if he does, he simply wont be as athletic as he is when he is fully healthy and will be inefficient like everyone coming back from an injury), and we have the size on the wings to match up favorably against anyone on the Minnesota roster. San Antonio also has home court advantage and 2 extra days of rest and one less game played meaning our guys are fresher.
I would love to face the wolves in the WCF and have it go to seven, honestly, great organization, other than your coach being a whiny bitch.
Interesting take, like calling the kettle sga
The best player in the world vs the whiniest bitch coach? I’ll take those odds.
They already beat “the best player in the world” and now the have to play the other bpitw. And then maybe they will get to play against sga.
At least finch doesn’t flop on every play :)
You’re right, Timberwolves should extend Finch’s contract!
I think the point is that yes SGA is so good he doesn’t need to be a whiny bitch and same with Luka. Really annoying how these guys are already so good but make it shit to watch when they do that. Love or hate Finch, he’s our coach so gota back him
Technically they can I just don’t see it happening getting past San Antonio and then OKC is just unfathomable
Beating Jokic, Wemby, Lebron, and Embiid all in one post season would be crazy
LeBron? Do you mean SGA? 0 chance the lakers make the WCF.
Let me enjoy my fan fiction
Beating the Thunder would probably earn them more respect but a win against a healthy LeBron/Luka lakers would be pretty close.
It’s 50⁄50. They either make the WCF or not.
It’s 50⁄50 when I DM Syndey Sweeney if she’s DTF
You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take
If Lebron beats OKC with out Luka he the GOAT
literally less than zero chance lol. okc gonna absolutely cook em and i’m here for it
Gobert getting a 2011 Dirk run? Inject it right into my veins.
They can beat San Antonio. We need big bad Randle to bully Wemby, The physicality will wear him down and then the Wolves can take the series.
If Ant was 100%, then yes, I’d take Minnesota in 6. Assuming Ant is out until Game 3, it’s gonna be close but I think SA in 6 or 7.
Hope Ant comes back.
I’m not betting against the Wolves unless it’s the thunder. Their depth is great. I don’t think they need Ant and I expect Randle to have a big series.
Who has a better shot to win, The TWolves or the Lakers?
Wolves for sure, they are the WCF gatekeepers at this point.
The spurs depth is just as good as OKC though, Wemby completely outclasses Chet by a wider margin than SGA outclasses Fox, Steph Castle is a top 20 2 way player, Champagnie is a lights out shooter, Vassell is a walking bucket, Luke Kornet is a starter for at least 15 other NBA teams but he comes off our bench, Keldon Johnson is just as impactful as J dub off the bench, Dylan Harper is more impactful than Andrew Wiggins, Harrison Barnes is always liable to get hot from the perimeter, and Carter Bryant is a capable 10th man with size, athleticism, and hustle, yes he makes rookie mistakes, but he’s almost never on the court at the same time as wemby so his silly fouls slows the game clock down meaning Wemby can get more rest during stoppages in play which I believe works to the Spurs advantage. We also put belt to ass on the thunder 4 times this year.
Wemby will show levels. Spurs in 5 or 6. RemindMe! 2 weeks
Spurs probably do win in 5 or 6. They’ve got a hell of a team and they’re around the guy who is gonna rattle off the next 3-4 MVPs in a row, most likely.
Wemby was able to handle joker just fine in games, Randle can’t do much different
Wemny also averaged 30+ against the wolves they didn’t slow him down they slowed the team down and now their best perimeter defender might have to be their best scorer
Wolves can definitely beat the Spurs. I just wish Ant’s playing if and when they do it. Beating the Spurs without Ant and Divincenco will devastate the fandom lmao
Would be 2011 esque
No they cannot
Don’t give me hope.
Your hope is dead you have 4 games left in your season, enjoy the abduction buddy
I’m sad about the sweep sentiment but damn “the abduction” is such a cool way to describe it
good energy
This would be an insane title run if the Wolves won.
We would be the lowest seed to win? Not only that, the consensus would be to take every single opponent in 5 each round probably
Would be tied with the 94-95 Rockets since you guys are the 6-seed.
This would be more insane than ‘95 too imo. Potentially facing 3 60+ win teams + Jokic would be nothing short of historic
Minnesota does have 5 rings from the 1950s but they were stolen by the city of Los Angeles.
Yeah, I don’t understand the whole, some cities get to keep the championships from before the team relocated and some teams get to still claim it after they move.
If the Thunder don’t count the Sonics title, why the hell should the Lakers get to claim the Minnesota titles?
I think it’s more that the thunder owners wanted to treat it more like a new team than tie to its old history, I think that’s their choice, and that the default is to just keep your team history no matter where you move.
The only place that gets weird is Charlotte moving to NO and then getting an expansion team changing back into the old team, and that only changed once Charlotte changed back into the hornets.
As far as I’m aware outside of that, every franchise that relocated kept its history (Jazz, kings, grizzlies, clippers, wizards, rockets, warriors, lakers are what I’m seeing online) except for OKC.
So basically if you move, you keep your history unless you’re OKC and you don’t want to associate with Seattle, or you abandon your team name and then the new team in that city reclaims it (and that’s very unique too)
They’re actually built for it this year. Still a tough road, but they’re not out of place anymore.
The Ant injury really hurts their chances.
People forget about Donte
Yeah that’s tough, Ant is their engine.
They do have the most dawg in them
Still a tough road, but they’re not out of place anymore.
…They’ve made the past two WCFs.
They’re playing with house money at this point, I don’t think anybody expected them to beat Denver with their injuries, personally I think that ups their chances
On the flip side it feels the Wolves were built specifically to take down Denver, ironically by the GM who left Denver.
Even down Ant and Dvo, they just match up really well, now, it was still incredibly embarrassing, and shouldn’t of happened, but the Wolves are absolutely the Nuggets Kryptonite.
I think its going to be clear how their series will go in the first 2 games, if Wolves just look wash, its over quick, if they hang around, this could go 7
Can the Timberwolves defy the odds?
Spurs in 5 I think
OKC in 3
u evr thingk bout
how the west actually had one team perfectly tuned to beat the Thunder
in the same way that yall are tuned to beat the Nuggets
and then that team traded Luka
I feel like that Luka trade might have tipped that team too far into what-if category.
They beat the Thunder from 2 seasons ago. Last year Thunder got better. This year theyre missing jdub a lot but their role players all got better. But people still talking about that mythical Mavs team like theyre the OKC kryptonite.
PJ Washington is 2024 OKC father lol
Whew
I mean the Wolves looked competent and the Lakers nor Rockets have looked like they belong in the playoffs.
I don’t know what the Lakers or Rockets have to do with here. I think the Spurs are a much better team than the Wolves in their current form. Without injuries I’d still pick the Spurs but I’d have said in 7.
spurs in 5 okc in 4
I think Spurs have a legit chance against OKC, they did win the regular season record against them
The regular season record does not matter at all come playoff time. The Celtics swept the Knicks last year, the Suns swept the Timberwolves in 2024, etc.
I’d say it matters lots, especially considering both teams were trying both times
A finals run through the Nuggets, Spurs, and Thunder would be an all time impressive run. You could argue that those were 3 of the 4 best teams coming into the playoffs.
Thunder ran through the prior three years’ champs to make the finals in 2011-2012 season but then lost 4-1 to Miami.
Still one of the most legendary runs especially given their age. Kd was a demon
I don’t even know how the Timberwolves got this far.
Jaden McDaniels 😤
Yeah he was stellar. The whole team stepped up it’s just unexpected given the how the season ended and the injuries.
Gobert won the kaiju battle
they are my underdog team 😤 hope ant gets back asap
crazy how even after 2 conference finals back to back they yet again enter the playoffs as underdogs
Wolves are the type of team to beat the Nuggets, Spurs, and Thunder just to lose in 5 games to the Cavs or some shit.
Subscribed !
Not to be that guy, but this would undeniably be one of the most impressive postseasons runs of all time. Beating out the top 3 seeds of the conference in Denver, San Antonio, and OKC in a row is possibly more impressive than 2011 Dirk facing the Blazers, Pau Kobe Lakers, and young OKC. Only difference is Dirk beat the Heatles in the finals and there’s already no team left in the east near that caliber.
In the unlikely scenario that the Lakers somehow make it past the Thunder miraculously with the power of friendship and shonen anime, you’d have LeBron which is not quite the Heatles but it’s still LeBron.
Lakers and Wolves making the WCF after all the injuries and everyone doubting them would be a hilarious outcome
Please basketball gods, make it somehow happen lol. Both are teams are playing with house money, this would be so chaotic 😂
if the spurs don’t win this year I am really rooting for the timberwolves to get their first Title. they have had some very dark years and their fans are some of the coolest and most passionate fans in the league.
In the strange and beautiful world in which the Wolves somehow beat the Spurs, you’d be a more kind soul than I if you didn’t at least sort of hate the team which eliminated yours.
Oh, but we all hate the Thunder more.
You know what, go wolves!
Yes, the Wolves can.
This is the way. Keep smoking that sweet hopium!
I’m hitting that delirium pack all week
Pretty sure most Knicks and Sixers fans weren’t alive for the last time their teams won a title
yeah I’m not holding this one over the wolves lol
Thats a big Woof.
Some formula I say on TikTok had the wolves winning. If they get health idk
For the next month or so, that is
Oh no
No.
At least it’s only the Wolves for Minnesota. Vikings were able to win it all when the Super Bowl was in Minneapolis.
I dont remember Philly ever getting ring
Moses/dr j era
Considering the league wants a Spurs-OKC west final, wolves are likely to remain without a title.
The League expected a Spurs-Nuggets Round 2 and we see what happened there.
Some people don’t know their history.
Timberwolves, Werewolves, Antman, Batman, Spider-Man,………Spurs in 4!
T Wolves currently at +10000 to win it all, dead last, the next closest team is the 76ers at +4000.
IF they take down all the teams to make it to the finals, because the west is so strong, they would have to become automatic favorites to win.
Honestly, $20 bet at +10000 is tempting
It’s funny because the Wolves are actually a disappointment and not a particularly good team. They just match up INCREDIBLY PERFECTLY WELL with the Denver Nuggets and somehow everyone has just lost sight of all this.
I think people are reading too much into the nuggets series tbh. The wolves didn’t shoot particularly well they just dominated jokic in the paint. They shot amazingly on corner threes like 52% but were almost dead last in any other type of threes, that’s not gonna work against a top 3 defense with the best defender in the world and multiple plus defenders with no weak players to target like jokic
Yet.
