It’s good to see a Philly fan still loving Tobias, with how bad the narrative with him is and the bad seasons down there. He is such a baller
He certainly had his bad games but I think it gets lost how difficult of a situation he got put into. He was never higher than the third option, usually the fourth and most of the time with very ball dominant players. Tobias is at his best in an offense based around ball movement and we were almost never that. Yes he got overpaid but I also think a part of that is because it was when the salary cap jumped a bit so we weren’t used to seeing those big numbers for salaries. Maybe that’s a a bit of a reach, I won’t deny he got overpaid, but I do believe it.
He also got downplayed too. He averaged 17.6⁄6.6⁄3.1 on .487/.369/.855 those are very solid numbers especially when never involved in the flow of the offense. He wasn’t Jimmy Butler and Jimmy Butler’s blatant lie of “Tobias Harris over me?” when Jimmy already said he wasn’t re-signing with us was always gonna be impossible to overcome.
But also, Tobias won me a fantasy basketball championship in 2013 and had been one of my favorite players since. In 2019 I was telling everybody I could that if we could get Tobias and Boban from the Clippers it would be perfect for us. Then when we actually did, I was never gonna change my mind.
