The Ringer Made NBA Finals Predictions. None Survived the First Round.
Two weeks ago, on April 16, the Ringer published article about the NBA Playoffs.
The article contains numerous predictions, one prediction that I would like to focus on is NBA Finals predictions. Here are those predictions:
Beck: Nuggets over Celtics
Pina: Nuggets over Celtics in 7
Parker: Thunder over Celtics in 7
Dollinger: Celtics over Thunder
Levy-Rubinett: Nuggets over Pistons
Chau: Nuggets over Celtics
Other three main personalities of the independent news organization, the Ringer, namely Bill Simmons, Zach Lowe and Joe House stated their predictions in podcasts:
Joe House: Nuggets vs. Knicks
Bill Simmons:
(1) Preseason prediction: Denver over Cleveland
He does not have a certain pick during the season.
(2) One clear statement on a recent podcast: “Denver to make the Finals, Denver to play the Celtics, Denver to play the Knicks”
(3) He also mentions Celtics multiple times as a finals candidate in various recent episodes. (not surprisingly)
Zach Lowe:
(1) In October: OKC vs. Knicks
(then he changed his prediction)
(2) Before the playoffs: OKC vs. Celtics
As of today, before the end of the first round of the NBA Playoffs, before the start of second round of the NBA Playoffs, NONE of the predictions has a chance to be correct. The Ringer collectively achieved 0% chance to correctly predict the NBA Finals.
